I went from “women fighting” to “women with phallic symbols” to “women with swords” to “well, that’s not fair, I’ll throw in some men too!” And now here we are.
I thought I wouldn’t be able to find many images, and then I ended up finding too many! Actors portraying a whole range of emotion, with the dramatic assistance of a sword.
For instance, we have Hema being “confident and worried about my tummy showing” with sword
Sridevi being “Queen of the Universe and All I Survey” with sword
Hema again, being “cocky and a little amused at your confidence” with sword (thanks to cinemachaat for image)
Kareena being “too focused to worry about dirt on my face” with sword.
Kareena again being “who are these people and why is my picture being taken” with sword
Genelia being “I am defensive with great eye-liner” with sword
Sonakshi being “oh yeah, this is sexy, but I better not get cut” with sword
Anushka Shetty being “you disgust me and I will stab you” with sword
Anushka again being “I am resolute and inspiring” with sword(s)
Anushka being “oh yeah, come at me, I’m ready” with sword
Aishwarya being “ha-ha, I got you and I am a little turned on” with sword. And Hrithik being “oh cute she thinks she has me and I am A LOT turned on” with sword.
Speaking of Hrithik, here he is being “are you looking? You should be looking. I am a fantastic specimen” with sword.
And here he is being “okay, now I know you must be looking so I’m turning my back” with sword.
Shahrukh approaches sword wielding royalty love stories differently. Here he is being “Blue Steel face and traffic conductor hand, oh yeah, I’m royal!” with sword
And here’s Aamir being “I am THROWING myself INTO this VERY IMPORTANT historical role” with sword.
And then Salman, like a breath of fresh air, keeping it simple, “ready for you” with sword.
And now “really really ready for you” with sword.
This is “ready for you and wearing an historically accurate dirty mop hair wig but historically inaccurate nippled armor” with sword.
This is Salman being “okay now I am so ready that I am almost over it!” with sword
And then, back in the day in a movie I love despite appearances, here is Salman being “what is happening and why am I wearing this wig and this is super super phallic” with sword
And then, to cleanse our palate, here he is being “so young and beautiful you should just eat me with chocolate sauce” with sword
And finally, my favorite sword picture that I stumbled across while looking for others, Karan Johar being all “This is Amazing!!! I am so giving it to my twins when they get bigger” with sword and Rajamouli being all “I think he really really likes the present I just gave him! Sweet!” with sword
And now here’s Prabhas being “my beard is itchy” and Rajamouli being “I just want to get back into the editing bay and be done with this promo event” and Karan being “wait, do I give it to the boy twin or the girl twin? What if they fight over it?” and Rana being “Am I smiling enough? I’m so tired!” with sword.
Your caption on the Aamir photo sent me into fits of laughter! I found the last one really funny too.

NIce one. 🙂 Two points: 1. Salman didn’t use a wig in Veer, he had extensions put into his hair (why this matters, I don’t know). 2. That sword the Bahubali team gave KJo is the sword with which Kattappa killed Bahubali. I saw a lot of comments online that Karan doesn’t deserve such a major present, and it should rightfully have been given to Prabhas, or kept for the Bahubali museum that is in the works. I think I agree with them. 🙂
Oh, third point that is really a question. What film is that first picture of Hema from? It looks to me like her character is supposed to be pregnant, so she is really protecting her unborn child while fighting the bad guys. Am I right?

I assume the Hema picture is from Razia Sultan based on the costume, but I don’t know. I still haven’t seen the movie, I know she is a ruler with a secret lover, so if she is pregnant, she would need to hide it.
Or, alternatively, the costume just didn’t fit her right and she is trying to cover up the gap by holding her hand like that (not that I would ever have done such a thing!)

How come you missed out Tamanna from Bahubali 1? She had some sweet moves and fierce expressions.

I couldn’t find a good still! Not with a sword. Just with arrows.

BTW, I meant to say this earlier, but when Jodha Akbar came out, that pic of Hrithik practicing his sword play was captioned at one of the BW discussion boards as “Are you like checking me out?”
(It’s only funny if you’ve already seen Dhoom 2.)
