No particular reason for this thinky post, or at least no more than usual. There’s always stuff about female artists, actresses and writers and everything, that frames them as “intuitive” and “feeling” instead of thinking. And conversely, a man can’t make an emotional decision EVER, we always have to search for the “logic” behind it.Continue reading
Yes! We are all going to THINK! Even though it is December, and FilmiKudhi is having a baby, and Eva and I are in mourning, and just in general life is insane (Genevieve, I’m I remembering right that you are in the midst of a sweep of birthdays?), we are still going to DISCUSS and THINK and STUFF.Continue reading
Oh boy! I get to join in on this general popular culture conversation! I don’t think I have anything new to say, but I am excited to start out the discussion on DCIB because I think this topic is bang on our area of interest.Continue reading
Another thinky post! I’m spoiling y’all! Someday I may actually review a movie again and it will be too much joy to handle.Continue reading
Oh boy! A post just for Genevieve! Who is obsessed with Allu Arjun!!!! Well, not “obsessed”, it’s not like she has a life size cut out of him in her living room (I have a life size cut out).Continue reading
I’ve been having a lazy weekend, scrolling through streaming options, and there’s a pattern I keep noticing in the things I start and then stop. At the same time, I watched Bang Bang and Duplicate, and there was a pattern with those that I liked and kept me going. Anyway, made me think about female characters and stuff.Continue reading
I woke up yesterday and went “hey! What’s that strange brightness out my window? Could it be SUNLIGHT??? For the first time in two weeks?” And then here’s the real miracle, the same thing happened today!!!!!! So I took it as a sign that I should shoot as many videos as possible while I have light. “As many as possible” meaning, one ten minute video in the morning before I leave for the day, only to return when it is already dark.
Time to talk about gender! I love how Bahubali 1 and 2 deal with gender. I do not like how Bahubali 1, in isolation, deals with it. But that’s just because it was only half the story. The two films have to be viewed together for the concepts of the male and female and how they are handling them to become fully clear. (my last theme post is here, and my full Bahubali list of posts is here)
