I kind of am looking forward to staying inside and staying cool this weekend, let’s find a nice movie to watch together! And Saturday is the best time for me, but Sunday and Monday are also on the table.

Prince Edward Island Trip With My Mom! Coming Up in 6 Days! Help Me Plan!
This was a request way back when I first talked about doing a Anne of Green Gables readalong, that I give updates once we get close to the actual trip. So now you all get to join in on this fun planning period!
Continue readingWednesday Watching Post: What Are You Reading and Watching and Thinking and Listening to the First Week of July?
Happy Wednesday! Sorry-not-sorry for the low number of posts, my life is rocketing forward like a race car this month (details below) and too much is too much sometimes! Also, I gave you such nice thinky posts, so you can keep chewing on those.
Continue readingMonday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me the Day We Learn Alia and Ranbir are Pregnant?
Happy Monday! I cut Albie Dog’s quick when I was trimming his nails last night, and now Alia is going to have Ranbir’s baby. It’s all very upsetting.
Continue readingThinky Post: Plural Marriage/Polygamy/Polyamory, a Constant in All Cultures
I just watched the new FLDS documentary, and now I’m listening to a really good in depth podcast on the Short Creek polygamist community in America. Which has got me thinking about polygamy, and how it is present in all cultures to some degree, and yet in the modern world we resist acknowledging it.
Continue readingDCIB Book Club: Rainbow Valley, Book of Terrible Adults and Wonderful Children
The last two Anne books! Which are also the two I was most looking forward to discussing. Please please read just these two, even if you don’t read any of the others. This one is the childhood story of a gang of children, and the next one tells what happens to those children when they grow up. They are very different from anything else Montgomery wrote, and pretty different from anything I have ever read by anyone else either.
Continue readingAbortion/Song Post 2! New Donation Option, and New Song Contest!
The celebration of “abortions have always been part of fictional universes in a casual sideways way” continues! Also, new donation link.
Continue readingAbortion Post, Donation Link and Song Contest!
I just got 28 emails in my inbox all at once, I have GOT to unsubscribe from some of those political campaign lists. Anyway, just like the political campaigns, I had this post written in my head and ready to go for weeks.
Continue readingCultural Appropriation and the Constant Balancing Act of Doing/Saying the Correct Thing
Thank you for asking for this post! It’s a reality I live everyday in many ways, and I am excited to hear your diverse perspectives on this issue. Also, this post took me like 5 drafts to write and got worser with each one. Gah, work-life was INSANE this week and I just wanted to sit down and focus on my nice thinky post! Stupid co-worker medical emergencies and burst sewage lines and blah blah blah.
Continue readingMusic Challenge! American Versus Hindi Versus Telugu, Who Had the Best June 23rd Song?
This was supposed to be a fun easy post for me to write, and then I did WAY more work on it than I expected! I tracked down both a truly awesome American song released on June 23rd, and then every year June 23rd was a Friday, and then a Hindi and Telugu movie released on those Fridays. And now we can have an equitable “June 23rd songs” contest.
Continue readingHappy Solstice! For the Longest Day of the Year, Let’s Talk Longest Movies!
In olden days, it wasn’t just 3 hours that was the norm, it was often 3 hours PLUS MORE for movies. Let’s talk about some super old movies and which ones feel the shortest to you when you watch them!
Continue readingMonday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me as I Prepare for Another Heatwave?
Happy Monday! It’s getting hot here again, but I have a plan for it. That plan being, not going anywhere and sitting in the air-conditioning.
Continue readingDCIB Book Club: Anne of Ingleside! A Bunch of Short Stories of Varying Quality, and Anne Makes Mistakes!
Well, I had to stay up almost to midnight but I finished it! The problem is, I enjoy these books so much that I keep putting them off as a special treat for the weekend. And then I have so much to do on weekends that I finish them late. Anyway, I’m starting Rainbow Valley TOMORROW! It makes me happy, why not read it right away?
Continue readingShashi Sunday, Shashi in Every Color
I cheered myself up with Shahrukh yesterday, now I shall cheer myself up with Shashi. Isn’t that a nice way to spend the weekend?
Continue readingShahrukh Saturday, Just Because
Happy Saturday! I was up late last night watching movies with the Upstairs People, then I woke up early and mowed the lawn and ran errands and discovered there is a 30 ounce drink option at Starbucks, and then I came home and met the drain plumber man, and now I am waiting for him to finish doing the drain and then tell us if he can do a quick fix on the broken bit. Stupid tree roots. Anyway, I think it is a good time to browse Shahrukh photos.
Continue readingNo Sunday WatchAlong! Instead Let’s Brainstorm Happy Calming Weekend Activities
Well, the week started with one of my co-workers going out for surgery meaning we were down a person, continued with a sewage backup in the basement, then on to the electricity flickering, plus general heat related exhaustion and misery. I’ve finally made it to the weekend and I think I need to focus on doing anything that will make me NOT spin out with anxiety. So, no watchalong (since almost no one could join anyway), instead we shall all think of nice things to do for ourselves this weekend.
Continue readingSunday WatchAlong: What Time/Day this Week??? And What Happy Over the Top Cheerful Movie Ridiculous Movie?
Well, the week is still super hot, and we need an electrician along with a plumber now, and our internet is going in and out constantly, and it’s all just very difficult. So, watchalong this week, only if we can think of something as happy and wondrous and wonderful as RRR. But not RRR, because we just watched that.
Continue readingWednesday Watching Post: What Are You Reading and Watching and Thinking and Listening on Father’s Day Week?
Happy Wednesday!!!! It is so hot here. And our basement got a wee bit of sewage backup, and the upstairs people are painting their bathroom, and everything is just topsy turvy.
Continue readingBrahmastra Trailer! I’m Just So Tired
Well, now we have a hint of plot. And it’s not….great. You know what is missing? A sense of humor. You have to have a sense of humor in these kinds of things or it just doesn’t work. You need that classic Marvel acknowledgement meta joke of “this is super weird, right?”
Continue readingMonday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me on a Rumpled Monday?
Happy Monday! Everything is weird. The cleaning people are here, but it’s only one person instead of two like I’ve had before, which means it will take twice as long and also I feel weird not interacting, versus when it was two chipper people talking to each other. My co-worker was supposed to come over for training and canceled at the last minute. And there are supposed to be thunderstorms this afternoon, but right now there isn’t a cloud in the sky. It’s all strange and I don’t like it.
Continue readingDCIB Book Club: Anne’s House of Dreams, a New Trilogy Starts
Woot, another Anne book! Which has absolutely no harem-scarem Anne hijinks at all. In fact, she barely leaves her house, and doesn’t interact with the wider community at all. What’s that about?
Continue readingWatchAlong Today! Noon Chicago Time!!! Bigil!
NOON today, not 11. And since it might be low attendance, if no one is here by 15 after, ill cancel and do yard work instead.
Continue readingWatchAlong Tomorrow! Noon Chicago Time!!! Bigil!
Sorry, forgot I scheduled a massage for 10am so I can’t do 11am. So this is just a quick post to say, NOON tomorrow, not 11.
Continue readingSaturday Small Talk: Chat Away While I Try to Make Myself Do Nothing!
Happy Saturday! Ugh! My back hurts and my knee hurts and one part of me just really really wants to sit on the couch and do nothing. But another part of me really really wants to go buy more mulch and fun things like that.
Continue readingFor Judy’s birthday! Easter Parade Remake, the Perfect SRK-Anushka Movie, and Summer Stock Remake, the Perfect Ranveer-Katrina Movie
Yaaaay, more fanfic! A late birthday present to ME! And also, Judy Garland’s 100th birthday is today and she is a very important person everywhere all the time, so she deserves attention.
