Forget all the other things we have been discussing, streaming versus theaters and nepotism prejudices and online discourse, this is the MOST IMPORTANT DISCUSSION POST EVER. Grandpa’s 99th, what do I get him?

Happy Birthday Rajkummar, and 2 Year Anniversary of Stree!
So excited to share this review and discussion with those of you who just were able to watch the movie because of Netflix!
Continue readingMonday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me on Rajkummar Rao’s Birthday?
Happy Monday! Bumpy morning here, we have a friend coming up for the day (social distancing, only sitting on the porch, wearing masks, etc.) and my Dad went to senior hours at the grocery store to get supplies, only to discover the power was out at the store! Also, the president is coming tomorrow (not to our house, just the county), which is of course depressing. And on Wednesday I have to go back into the city for a foot appointment, Thursday I stay in the city through the work day and miss another friend who is coming up, and then Sunday we have my two young friends coming for the day who we will hopefully sucker into helping us take the boats out for the winter. PHEW! Big week!
Continue readingRajkummar Rao Birthday Discussion Post: Which is Your Favorite of His Films?
It’s Rajkummar Rao’s birthday! Well, in India. It’s still the day before his birthday in the US, but I figure, close enough.
Continue readingVacation Report! Our Vacation House is Surrounded By Rioting and So We Can’t Go Anywhere, Which is a Great Relief
Greetings from the new hotspot for Civil Unrest in America. So strange, this sleepy little place my family has been going to for generations is suddenly in the national news. Life is funny.
Continue readingSadak 2 Review (SPOILERS): Trust No Authority
Well, this is a movie that is very angry at authority figures! I can get behind that. The specifics of the message are maybe a little out of date, the GodMan is no longer as powerful in India as GodMob, but the general idea that blind trust in what you are told is bad, that’s a timeless message.
Continue readingSadak 2 Review (NO SPOILERS): Alia and Sanjay and Mahesh, Magic Together
Well, this was simultaneously better and worse than I expected! Mahesh’s directing and Sanjay and Alia’s chemistry together was far better than I hoped. And the anti-establishment message was a delight (I totally hit the nail on the head with my OSHO guess, by the way. Go me!). But the script as a whole just wasn’t quite good enough.
Continue readingSaturday Small Talk: Chat Away While I Watch Sadak 2 and Read Books
Happy Saturday! I am up at the Lake House again for a long stretch to end out the year. Of course I still have my stupid foot, so I can’t go swimming or on boats. But I can sit on the porch and read a book, so I’ll be doing a lot of that instead of responding to blog comments. Oh, and finishing/reviewing Sadak 2, I’m watching it on my phone

I’ve decided! It was almost a tie, so I went with the movie I most want to see again. Also the movie I most want to sell other people on watching because it is sooooooooooooooo good and no one seems to see it.

A vital timely question! And now that we are all about 6 months in, I think we have a good sense of the importance of this question and what factors needed to be weighed and considered.
Continue readingDog Day Counterprogramming Post: Famous Characters Played by Kittens
Obviously dogs are better than cats, that is just an accepted fact. But I am an ornery individualist, and if everyone is telling me to celebrate “national dog day”, I am of course going to do the opposite. Also, this is a really cute post that I wanted an excuse to repost.

Not Anil himself being sexy, that is almost impossible unless he is a Silver Fox, but sexiness happening surrounding him. Anil is very good at bringing the sexy out in others.

Happy Monday! I am grumpy and discombobulated today, so I am treating myself to delivery coffee, oooo! Which took like an hour to figure out how to do, apparently none of the coffee places near me are open on Mondays. Why???? Surely Monday, of all days, is the most Coffee-y!

Well, the movie was fine, low budget and quick moving and all that. But the overall arc of the story was really interesting in a way that makes me want to read the book it is based on, because it doesn’t go quite the way you think it will.
