Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me as I Enjoy a Day Off?

Happy Monday! I love 3 day weekends. I never seem to have enough time to do everything I want to do on 2 day weekends. Of course, that’s because my to-do list is always a 3rd again too long. If I had 3 day weekends all the time, I would get used to it and then my to-do list would expand and I would be right back in the same place. Anyway, I’m over half done making fence panels and I invited friends over to help me install them, I’m gonna hang my curtain rod today, I killed all the Hastas in the front yard (DEATH TO HASTAS!!!), and I finished reading Anne of the Island and did the watchalong with y’all.

DCIB Book Club: Anne of the Island! My Favorite Anne Book

I am SO EXCITED to talk about this one. I remembered it has Ruby Gillis, but I forgot it also has the John Douglas-Janet Sweet romance. Either of these sections on their own would make it one of the most thought provoking Anne books, but the two together, plus Anne’s own maturing idea of romance, plus Phillipa Gordon’s romance and character, make it just a feast for discussion.

Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me the Monday After a Busy Weekend?

Happy Monday!!! I did so much this weekend! I finished my thousand piece jigsaw puzzle, most importantly. And I also dropped off a birthday present, got a massage, got a pedicure, made dinner for my parents, did two loads of recycling, organized the massive number of fence posts I need to assemble, and read the instructions for a lavender-in-a-jar planting project. And now I am at work, being all unproductive.

British Brackets Winner: Alan Rickman!!!!! Let Us Celebrate Alan by Sharing Our Favorite Alan Performances

Happy Friday! It’s been kind of a slow week, I suspect Genevieve has either been hit by COVID part 2 like I was, or hit by “my kids are suddenly healthy and driving me crazy”. Shelomit is doing her sad stuff, Filmikudhi is dressing her baby up in a series of increasingly elaborate outfits (thank you for photos!), it’s just Saira and me sitting here and talking about Anne. I’m considering not even doing a Sunday WatchAlong this week, taking a week off instead and mowing my lawn. Anyway, perfect time to have a pleasant Alan Rickman conversation!

Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me the Day After Madhuri’s Birthday?

Happy Monday! I’m up at the lake house again. This week it is slightly too cold instead of too hot. On the one hand, that means I am absolutely not going into the lake itself or doing any lake-adjacent things (like kayaking and then following out and freezing). But on the other hand, it is so comfy and cozy to sit inside by the fireplace and look out at the lake.

DCIB Book Club: Anne of Green Gables! The First Book in the Series, the First Sunday of Our Series!

Don’t worry, the discussion questions are going to be very general, so even if the last time you read the book straight through was years ago, you can still contribute. Personally, I was just going to sort of skim, and then I ended up sitting down and reading and crying for 2 hours straight yesterday and forgot to eat lunch. Basically the same as the first time I read it

Sunday WatchAlong: 11am Chicago Time Sunday! Tezaab!!!!

Yes! Tezaab! For Madhuri’s BIRTHDAY!!!! It’s fun, it’s silly, it has truly GREAT songs, Anil’s hair is high and poofy, and young Madhuri is breathtaking. Also, Chunky Panday, no joke, steals the movie. He is truly phenomenal in this role, and it makes me respect him more for having this much talent, and being willing to just sit back and work hard and take whatever job he is offered to support his family.

Thinky Post: “India Syndrome” Podcast, How Do You Decide What To Believe About Another Culture When it Interacts With Yours?

I listened to a really interesting podcast! One of those that circles around and around and doesn’t really answer any questions, but brings up some interesting thoughts. It’s called “Astray” and focuses on a few sample cases among many of young non-Indian men who went missing in Rishikesh, never to be seen again.
