I did it! I got through the day! I was doing pretty good, with a careful balance of caffeine intake, until about 4pm and then it all hit me all of a sudden. So now I am going to quickly write this post, and then sleep until I wake up.

Saturday Small Talk: Chat Away While I Have Adventures!
Happy Saturday! I am at the airport waiting for the sun to come up, fun times!
Continue readingFriday Classics: Saagar! The Dimple-Rishi-Kamal Love Triangle You Didn’t Realize You Wanted!
Well, this movie was a kick! Definitely a fun Sippy, an Andaz-Seeta Aur Geeta-Shaan Sippy, not a Sholay-Shakti Sippy. If you have been politely ignoring all my Sippy movie posts because they seem way too deep and serious, you can swing back now and watch this movie because it is fun fun FUN! And a little melodramatic and romantic, but that’s just a different kind of fun.
Continue readingIt’s Albie Dog’s Adoptiversary! I Made So Much Cake!!!!
Happy Adoptiversary to ME!!!! And happy “eating way too much cake and probably going to make himself sick” to Albie Dog!
Continue readingHappy Thappad Release Day! Biggest Question, How Do We Rank Feminist Male Supporting Characters By Hotness?
I haven’t seen Thappad yet, but from the trailers and cast I think it might be one of those feminist movies that doesn’t include the token hot male feminist. Booooo! I want my hot male feminist! It’s the sexy action film bar dancer equivalent for serious woman’s film social dramas.
Continue readingRamesh Sippy Week: Shakti! The Film That Brought Together 3 Generations of Hindi Film in One Story
This is a big beautiful serious film that magically captures in a bubble all these actors from different film places. And yet, it doesn’t have an evil villain’s lair with an alligator pit, so I can’t love it as much as Shaan. I respect it, but I don’t love it.
Continue readingAntakshari Post! Starting With Strawberry Day
I still have to write a Shakti post, and watch and review Saagar, for my very dull Ramesh Sippy series. So in the meantime, I am doing a quick fun post, just a series of songs connected by title.
Continue readingHindi Film 101: Overlooked Siblings Round-Up! What’s Up With Shaheen Bhatt, Rinke Khanna, Sunaina Roshan, Sanjana Kapoor, Namrata and Priya Dutt, and Rhea Kapoor?
Brace yourself for the sympathetic overlooked sibling pain! Or for the triggering of “I’m sorry for being so awesome and making people not notice you!” noticed sibling guilt. Or I suppose for agonizing parental worry as you see this pattern appearing within your own family. Anyway, for me, this is because I am about to visit New York City, which is essentially the glitzy big sibling to Chicago, and all my Chicago feathers are already rumpled. We’re just as good! We just don’t like to talk about ourselves as much!
Continue readingWednesday Watching Post: What Are You Watching and Reading and Thinking and Listening To the Week I Travel to NYC?
Happy Wednesday! It is super super snowy here, and chilly, and I miss the random sunshine we had this weekend. Anyway, I will distract myself by writing this post.
Continue readingAnother Fat Tuesday Post! K Raghavendra Rao Songs, Let’s Enjoy Some Fruit and Some NAVELS!!
I find this kind of weirdly fascinating, you can make an argument that one very successful and influential director permanently altered the sexual desires of a whole ethnic/language group made up of billions of people.
Continue readingFat Tuesday Post: Songs With Sexy Beautiful Ladies of Size, to Balance Our Skinny Men
Happy Fat Tuesday! The celebration of indulgence continues. And my office currently has a total of 28 Poczki’s that we need to eat (I bought a dozen, and then my co-workers mother sent 16 more).
Continue readingTentative Scheduling Post: Bad Girls Movies
No one cared about my Bad Girls Theme Month announcement, but maybe this will give you something more to talk about. What movies should I write about?
Continue readingTGIF: Skinny Boys for Fat Tuesday
A complaint was lodged that, in my focus on the nice cushion-for-the-pushin’ type guys, I missed the “never stop moving, super skinny, fingers brush their knees” kind of guys. This is correct, I have failed you. But I will now try to fix that!
Continue readingRamesh Sippy Week: Shaan! It’s Like Sholay, But Fun Dumb!
Well, I can see why people (some of them members of the DCIB community…) might prefer this film to Sholay. Sholay is brilliant and tragic and makes you think. But this movie has a helicopter and an alligator pit. The choice is clear.
Continue readingUpcoming Series Announcement! Bad Girls Month! For Woman’s History Month, ALL MARCH!!!!!
Remember how I was trying to come up with another fun and loosely defined theme to use to inspire posts? I think I did it! And this seems almost as fun as Sex Week, right? And I can repost my Tawaif discussion, and we can talk about “the men who love bad girls” and how hot that is, and all those things. Also, Rekha. And also lots of other stuff since I am doing a whole month.
Continue readingMonday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me Leap Week?
Happy Monday! I had such a happy sunny weekend, and now I am trying to get back into work mindset.
Continue readingVery Millennial Discussion Question, What Are the Best Throuples in Indian Film?
Well, not “millennial”, Design for Living was almost 100 years ago, and there is the whole complicated Duchess of Devonshire-Lady Elizabeth Foster-Duke of Devonshire thing. But I guess the word “throuple” is new, so that’s something my generation has contributed to relationships.
Continue readingSunday Rerun: Maine Pyar Kiya! For Bhagyashree’s Birthday!
Oops, this isn’t actually a rerun! I thought I had reviewed it, but I had just hosted a tweetalong viewing which isn’t the same thing. So let me quickly right this review.
Continue readingSilly Sunday: The Love Story Missing from Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan
I’m still working through what bothered me about SMZD, even though in general I can acknowledge it was a good movie. And you know what helps with these things? Fanfic! Playing with alternate versions.
Continue readingSexy Saturdays: Songs as Sex, What Are Your Favorite Visual Metaphors?
It’s sexy Saturday! The funnest day of the week! Where I put in the random thoughts I have left over from Valentine’s Sex Fest. Today, Sex and Songs!
Continue readingSaturday Small Talk: Chat Away While I Enjoy the Sunshine!
Happy Saturday! It is GORGEOUS here! In a seasonally appropriate way, sunny and upper 40s. Anyway, I’m gonna be optimizing that weather and ignoring the blog.
Continue readingShubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan Review (SPOILERS): A World Where Everyone is Just a Little Disappointed in Their Life
This movie has a lot of really delightful twists, so try not to spoil yourself if you can. I wrote another review with no spoilers that you can read to hear all the reasons you should see this movie and not spoil yourself!
Continue readingShubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan Review (No Spoilers): A Movie I Didn’t Like But You Will
This is the review to read before you watch it! And you should watch it because (based on the taste of the people who tend to read my reviews), you will very much enjoy it.
Continue readingSholay Post: Pick Your Happy Ending! If We Were to Be Shallow and Insist on a Happy Ending
Sholay! Brilliant movie, SAD! Could be a much worse film, but also HAPPY! Let me spread out before you an array of choices for last minute happiness after all.
Continue readingRamesh Sippy Week, Important Sholay Question! Jai, Veeru, Thakur, Marry, Sex, Punch?
Is it possible that I have found a new question to post on Sholay? Probably not, this exact debate has no doubt been held before by others. But it’s new to us!
