Silly Sunday Speculative Post: Shakespeare Continued! How Can We Fix and Indianize Shakespeare’s Most Difficult Comedy?

The Taming of the Shrew, obviously.  It’s a super fun play with great characters and plot and some really nice speeches.  But also a big bad misogyny section right in the middle that it is very hard to deal with without losing that “comic” touch.  But I think we can do it!  With careful casting and some gently massaging of the plot.

Omkara: Man! That Was Depressing!

I knew it would be!  I remember getting all depressed when I read the play back in college, and it was even worse watching it being acted out by a bunch of actors I really liked.  No wonder it has taken me years and years and years to get around to finally watching it.  But then moviemavengal posted on it and pointed out that Ajay is SMOKING HOT, and that was enough to finally get me to check it out!

Censor Board Spat and Shakespeare

The censor board doesn’t have a problem with Shakespeare, they just both happen to be in the news at the same time.  Although I bet the censor board would have a problem with Shakespeare, if they were working in England in the 1500s!  All that sexual humor, barely veiled political content, and bad language would NOT fly!

Shakespeare died exactly 400 years ago today, which I just learned from a google doodle.  I’m not really a person who celebrates death anniversaries, except for Shakespeare and Lincoln, my two favorite dead people.  And for his 400th death anniversary, I thought I really should do something special.
