Oh boy, the second classic Tawaif film in two days! I say “second”, but really it is all of them. Pakeezah and Umrao Jaan cannot be compared to other Tawaif films, they are on their own level.

I have such cute plot ideas based on cute American movies, but I don’t know how to end them. I’ve caught the Karan Johar bad ending disease. Help! I’m tempted to just give all the heroine’s cancer or bring in Salman to give a looooong speech and call it a day.
Continue readingWicked witches, evil uncles, twins, love potions, Madhuri Dixit, horses, fairy tale kingdoms, Danny Denzongpa, bungee cord fight scenes, geese, have I said anything bad so far? No! There is nothing bad in this movie! It’s all goodness, goodness so rich that maybe it was hard for people to stomach, and thus its massive flop at the box office on release. And, I was surprised to learn from the comments on my sexy songs post, not something that the readers here might even be aware of.
