I love me some 1970s Jayaji! She was soooooooooooooooooo good. I mean, she’s still very very good, but she doesn’t get as good roles as she used to back then.

Continue readingDCIB Zoom Discussion: Anamika! In 2 Weeks! Who’s Around??
I am almost at the end of my crazy busy summer schedule zone (sister and nephews visited, now I am visiting them, and in the 2 weeks in between I was covering for all my coworkers who had their only family summer stuff! And then a week from today, I am done and will have NOTHING. And will think “boy I wish I had a DCIB Zoom Discussion scheduled!” So that’s what I’m doing.
Continue readingIn Honor of Bhanu Athaiya, Her Most Iconic Designs Through the Decades
I am a bit late to this, Bhanu Athiaya died a couple days ago. But it took me some time to figure out how I wanted to write about her. As a craftswoman, behind the scenes, it didn’t feel right to talk about her personal life. But I decided I could focus on her designs instead and that would be appropriate.

Happy 3 days after Jaya’s birthday! This is another review of a movie I have seen often enough that I can write the review without prep. But also a movie I think is legitimately worth talking about. It is just so delightful! And at the same time, breaks so many taboos! Oh, and Jaya is so amazing, it’s a great film to watch if you are wondering if/why she was a really big star. Or at least, skip to the end of this post and watch the video.
Winter Solstice! Some Wintery Songs
This is a post I did last year, and I just pulled it from the archives to repost it and was looking up the first day of winter this year. Do you know it’s the same day EVERY YEAR???? Somehow this blows my mind. I don’t know why. Maybe I need a refresher on how calendars work.
Happy Birthday Jayaji! 15 Reasons I Love You!
Happy Birthday Jaya!!!! I’m not doing a full 69 reasons I love you, because I am lazy, but I can’t just leave it at a dozen. So let’s say 15, for the age you were at your first big film role.
Happy First day of Winter! Some Seasonal Songs
It’s been a little bit since I did one of these song posts (although I have put songs up in my birthday messages). I like doing them, because I hope they fill the gap that I filled with songs DVDs. Back in the early 2000s, I bought and rented a bunch, and I would see random songs and think “Hey! That’s cool! I should check out this movie/actor/actress/choreographer.” Or at least I would think “Hey! Now I can picture that actor/song sequence/actress the next time he/it/she is mentioned.” Hopefully this collection of loosely connected song sequences can have a similar effect for some of you!
