I was all set with a name on the weekend, even got tags made up. One of the names from the posts I had put up for you all, it wasn’t the top name but it got a fair number of votes, plus a lot of people in real life liked it. And then I brought Dog in to work on Monday and they all hated it and refused to use it. So I was back to square one. But now we finally have a solution!

Wednesday Watching Post: What Are You Reading and Watching and Thinking and Listening To the First Day of Lent
Happy (?) Ash Wednesday! Or as I thought of it as a child “that day all my friends got a thing on their forehead and I felt left out” (I grew up in a very Catholic neighborhood).
Continue readingNetflix Review: Bhasmasur, A Film I Wouldn’t Normally Watch
The director of this movie reached out to me directly, which is cool, and I was so impressed with his hard work in tracking down a little bitty blog like mine, that I felt like I had to review it. But I am trying hard not to feel obligated to give it a good review, to still be honest about my reaction to the film. And also be honest about this not being a film I would normally watch, meaning I will not have as much detail and background for it as I do in the genres I am more familiar with.
Continue readingNever Rains But it Pours Life Report
I know, I haven’t had a lot of “real” content in a while. Although I did review Luka Chuppi and write a really long in depth review of an American film yesterday. I was going to review an artsy film that just got added to Netflix today, but instead Life Happened.
Continue readingHappy Fat Tuesday! Songs That Indulge Our Baser Instincts
Happy Fat Tuesday! Last year I waited in line forever for Paczkis, and also wrote this post. This year I am slightly updating this post, and considering whether or not I want to bother with the Paczki line.
Continue readingRandom ReCasting/ReWriting Post! To All The Boys I Loved Before
If you haven’t seen the movie, you should! But I will still summarize it and then re-write it real quick for India, just so you can get a headstart on recasting, if you want.
Continue readingRandom American Review: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, an American Film With Many of the Things We Love From Indian Film
This is very strange, I know, for me to write about an American film. But it is really really good, and good in the same way that we love about Indian films. Ohm Shaanti Oshaana, Fidaa, DDLJ, if you like any or all of these movies, you will like this one.
Continue readingMonday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me The First Week in March?
Happy Monday! I forgot I am hosting tonight and my apartment is kind of a doggy disaster!
Continue readingSunday ReRun: Happy Birthday Shraddha! Let’s Look Back At Your Big Break, Aashiqui 2
Oops, forgot to announce the movie for this week! Worked out anyway, because today is Shraddha’s birthday, so that is a perfect opportunity to talk about that one movie she was in when we liked her.
Continue readingDog Names Final Contenders Post!
I promised I would come into work on Monday with a final name. So this is it! Time to decide!
Continue readingSilly Sunday: Sitcom Ideas Based on Star Stories, Shahid and Mira to Sushmita and Shahrukh
I’ve been on a bit of a sitcom kick, and we were just talking about the possible “Madhuri in Denver” sitcom idea, and now I can’t stop thinking of TV series ideas based on movie star lives.
Continue readingLukka Chuppi Review (SPOILERS): A Live-In Relationship Movie That Treats Live-In Relationships Honestly!
As I said in my “no spoilers” review, there was a political message in this film that already feels dated. So I am going to briefly acknowledge it, but not deal with it in the amount of detail I would if I were watching this movie ten years from now. Oh, and in terms of spoilers, there isn’t anything super surprising in the plot, not really a lot of twists you couldn’t have guessed already, so don’t worry too much about spoiling yourself on this review. But if you want to remain unspoilered, read this review.
Continue readingLuka Chuppi Review (No Spoilers): The Rare Romance Where the Hero and Heroine Never Fight
What a nice little romance! Not totally awesome and stunning, but decent. And with an unfortunately slightly dated political message that I will be ignoring because it doesn’t really work at this exact moment. But the romance part is definitely decent, especially how it handles the whole “live-in” topic.
Continue reading8 Aamir Khan Films You Can Skip
Aamir has made a lot of great movies. And a lot of not great, but still fun, movies. And then there are the others. Just so he doesn’t get too cocky about himself, let me list out some of the ones that you can avoid.
Continue readingHappy Saturday! Let’s Have Some Vitamin D!
This is partly an update on my scientific study of “hey, let’s see what happens if I actually bother to take simple supplements instead of dragging around complaining about life!” And partly just a random songs post of things that start with “D”.
Continue readingSaturday Small Talk: I Got Into My First Fender-Bender, How Is Your Weekend Going?
Happy Saturday! I have a dog, and a busy schedule, and now a dented up car. Blargh!
Continue readingI Guess We Have to Talk About “Sucker”
Congrats, Priyanka! You’ve done it again, you’ve forced me to talk about you and all of us to think about you. And I was so happy just talking about my new dog! Speaking of, “Nick” as a dog name?
Continue readingTGIF: In Honor of Jennifer and Shashi, Adorable Photos of Movie Stars With Their Non-Famous Partners!
No Twinkle and Akshay, or Aish and Abhishek, or even Anushka and Virat or Rajkummar and Patralakha. I want just the couples where one of them is a famous and beloved public figure, and the other is unknown and along for the ride.
Continue readingDog Names Post! Be Ready to Be Brilliant!
Well, I’m stumped. The little guy is still nameless, and I need something to yell at him when he has to come. I need help!
Continue reading9 Shahrukh Khan Films You Can and Should Avoid
This was a suggestion on the Salman Khan post, and it makes so much sense! My little innocent new viewers could easily stumble into terrible terrible films that will turn you off the star forever. This is your “here be dragons” warning against the films that, while perhaps still enjoyable to folks who already know a lot, are really not appealing at first blush.
