Friday Classics: Saagar! The Dimple-Rishi-Kamal Love Triangle You Didn’t Realize You Wanted!

Well, this movie was a kick! Definitely a fun Sippy, an Andaz-Seeta Aur Geeta-Shaan Sippy, not a Sholay-Shakti Sippy. If you have been politely ignoring all my Sippy movie posts because they seem way too deep and serious, you can swing back now and watch this movie because it is fun fun FUN! And a little melodramatic and romantic, but that’s just a different kind of fun.

Ramesh Sippy Week: Shakti! The Film That Brought Together 3 Generations of Hindi Film in One Story

This is a big beautiful serious film that magically captures in a bubble all these actors from different film places. And yet, it doesn’t have an evil villain’s lair with an alligator pit, so I can’t love it as much as Shaan. I respect it, but I don’t love it.

Ramesh Sippy Week: Seeta Aur Geeta, A Film So Memorable I Didn’t Bother Rewatching It!

This may have been a mistake. I’ve seen this movie 3 times at least, and I did a quick fastforward last night, but I didn’t rewatch it straight through. Usually no one cares/remembers enough to correct me when I make mistakes in this situation, but it’s Seeta Aur Geeta, so I have a sinking feeling that my ignorance will be apparent to many many people. Oh well, forgive me! And correct me! And understand why I am speaking in general terms about the plot instead of saying “the first time so-and-so meets such-and-such, they say…”
