Like I said in my first review, I got about 5 minutes into this movie and paused to get a pencil and paper. Because there is SO MUCH. Not like so much depth and soul (although there is that too, that’s what my other two reviews covered), but so much data. I know I probably missed at least half of it, but here is what I got from my 5 pages of notes. (Full Luck By Chance Index here)

Well, I finally watched it! Took me 6 hours because I had to keep pausing to take notes. So, there will be a much bigger review(s) coming over the next few days. But I want to start with just a simple review of it as a film, not as a sociological study.
I am so confused! Worlds colliding! Shahrukh and Jay Z, Alia and Demi Lovato, Coldplay and AR Rahman. WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?!?!?
Kahaani 2 trailer out today! And Rock On 2 trailer out yesterday, but I’m not as interested in that one.
Have you noticed that in Indian film, an overnight success is rare, but an overnight failure is even rarer? It takes the slow accumulation of flop after flop after flop before there are any repercussions. But, finally, Farhan and Katrina are feeling the burn!
Tum Bin 2? Really? Like, the Priyanshu Chatterjee movie? Rock On 2, I can kind of understand, because it’s part of Farhan’s whole play acting self-indulgence thing. But Tum Bin gets a sequel?
At least, that’s what happened for me! Amitabh made me cry, and Farhan made me want to throw something. So, an emotional day for me!
“So far”, because Sultan looks like it could be an even better athlete film. If not just a better film in general. I’m not going to say sports film, because Chak De India is the best at making a movie about a whole team and sport, with no interest in one particular person. But Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is the best at looking at one particular athlete. And the best at showing how the issues of that one athlete relate to bigger issues with the country and the world at large.
So, this isn’t an original thought from me, but someone on the internet has pointed out that since Farhan’s separation announcement yesterday, every single main actor in Zindagi Na Milega Dobara has now had a big public break up.
Is that actually true? I think it is! And if so, is it a coincidence, or is there a reason behind it? I think there is actually a reason for it.
