Happy Wednesday! And Happy Birthday Kajol! To celebrate, I am hosting a virtual movie night where we will not be watching a Kajol movie. Oh well, at least we will probably do a Shahrukh film, which is almost the same.Continue reading
Kishoreda! I don’t have a super good source for his life, so I am sure I am going to miss things, but I want to do a 101 anyway because he is such a memorable figure that those of you who are new to Hindi film should have some sense of him. I kind of covered a lot of this in other posts, but I don’t think I have given Kishore his on post before.Continue reading
Happy Monday! I had a terrible horrible no good migraine most of the day yesterday (thus my poor response rate on comments). I’m still feeling slightly headachey, but better, just in time to go to work. Why do you get sick on weekends? Why is the universe so cruel?Continue reading
Well, this is ridiculous. In the course of one week, the 3 major singers of Hindi film were all born. I guess if we are looking for the next big thing, the key is to check for an end of July/beginning of August birthday.

Madhubala! One of the great actresses of Hindi film history, The Most Beautiful Woman, with the most ridiculously dramatic and tragic life story. Appropriately for someone so full of love and so loved, her birthday is Valentine’s Day. And so I thought it would finally be time to do a Hindi Film 101 of her life.
News round-up! With NO SHAHRUKH STORIES AT ALL. Truly, we are in a new era starting today. (and then I immediately mention him in the first paragraph of an unrelated story. But it was RELEVANT!)
Happy birthday Lataji! I felt so guilty last year for celebrating your sister’s birthday, and skipping yours. But not again!
Unfortunately for poor Ashok Kumar, his brother Kishore died on his birthday. After which Ashok stopped celebrating his birthday. I didn’t stop celebrating it, but I will acknowledge Ashok’s wishes by also putting up a post in honor of Kishore’s death. And also, I am still really sick and a Kishore themed post seems like something I can do without thinking too much.
Why a dozen? I don’t know! I always do a dozen! It seems like a nice round number, and it lets me do half facts and half songs. Although in this case I may swing even more in the songs direction.
