I already put up the No Spoilers review, but I’m not even sure if those rules apply to this kind of movie. It’s based on a true story, and there aren’t really many surprises along the way. So you can read that review if you really hate spoilers, but otherwise you might as well read this review too. Although, fair warning, I also didn’t like this movie very much, so I may spoil it for you in a different way by making it no longer seem good.

Tuesday Telugu: Mahanati Review (No Spoilers), A Huge Talent Cut Down to Fit in a Love Story
Well, I saw it! And I did NOT like it. And then I went home to discover that Dog Hazel had gotten lonely and into the trash and eaten a bunch of stuff she shouldn’t. So all around, a failure of an evening.
Thursday Telugu: Bharat Ane Nenu (SPOILERS), Has No One Involved Read the Indian Constitution?
You can feel free to read this SPOILERS review, there’s nothing super unexpected in the film that you couldn’t guess from the trailer and the cast list. But DON’T READ THIS IF YOU LIKED THE MOVIE!!! Or do, I don’t know your preferences for film reviews. Just be aware that I kind of hated it.
Tuesday Telugu: Bharat Ane Nanu (No Spoilers), How Egotistical Do You Have To Be To Take This Part?
I finally saw it! On Sunday, which is why my Sunday fanfics were so late this week. And also why my dog had a mini-freak out over being left alone so long and got into the trash and gave herself a stomach ache. But it was more or less worth it.
Tuesday Tamil: 10 Endrathukulla, My First Vikram Movie!
I finally saw a Vikram movie! And my goodness, he is good! From what I can see, this isn’t a very good movie of his. But he is far far more entertaining even in this than the other actors I have seen.
Thursday Telugu: Bhaagamathie, What Does a Woman Have to Do to Get Our Attention?
I can’t decide if there were too many twists or just the right amount of twists in this movie. Either way, it is way more enjoyable to watch the film without knowing the twists in advance, so DON’T READ THE SPOILERS.
Tuesday Telugu: Godavari! A Boat Ride Full of Happiness
Aaaaah. Like sinking into a warm bath after a long tiring walk, that’s what it was like following Jo and the Boy with this movie. A movie where the filmmaker had a strong idea of what he wanted and executed it and I could just relax and enjoy.
Tuesday Telugu: Ashta Chamma, a Telugu Twist on One of My Favorite Plays
What a fun recommendation! Thank you Moimeme! An unassuming movie that is great on many levels.
Tuesday Telugu: Middle-Class Abbayi (MCA), Bhoomika Gets to Be the Hero!
Did you know HeroTalkies merged with YuppTV? In some very vague way that I can’t fully understand and makes both websites impossible to navigate? This is why I ended up watching MCA. It was the only movie I was successfully able to find and play. Well, and also Nani. And also Sai.
Saturday Telugu: Anand, Which Should be Titled Rupa
What an interesting movie! Now I can see why everyone was excited about, but not surprised by, Fidaa. Clearly this director knows how to build complicated imperfect female characters and reward them with a perfect love story.
Thursday Telugu: Little Soldiers, a Family That Contracts and Then Expands
After everyone talking about it on Children’s Day, I just had to watch it! And it is awfully cute. And, most impressive, it made me actually like Brahmanandam instead of wanting to fast forward as soon as he appears.
Tuesday Telugu: Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, Nani Does Ghajini
That isn’t really a fair title, it isn’t exactly Ghajini. It is a lot more than that, taking all of the “serious” versions of memory disorder films and making them into a joke.
Tuesday Telugu: Manmadhudu, Harmless Misogyny
Happy Tuesday! And a return to Telugu, after a brief visit to Tamil over the past few weeks. A totally silly soothing film that I could have on in the background while blogging/quilting/cooking. A film that, I think, is ultimately harmless although it sure sounds harmful in description!
Tuesday Telugu: Arjun Reddy (SPOILERS), Is Paro Feeling Devdas’ Pain, or Is it the Other Way Around?
This is is a movie that rewards viewing whether or not you know what happens, so feel free to read this, if it is the kind of film you would enjoy, knowing what happens in advance won’t change much. And as I said in my last No SPOILERS review, the true brilliance of the film is in the story structure, so you can’t fully understand why it is remarkable without knowing that.
Tuesday Telugu: Arjun Reddy (no spoilers) Let’s Applaud it for What it Is, Not What it Isn’t
My real review, which discusses all the ways this film is remarkable, is going to be the next one, the SPOILERS one. Because without getting into specific plot spoilers, there really isn’t all that remarkable about it. The content of this film has been more or less done before. It is the release (mainstream in the Telugu market) that is unusual. (spoilers review here)
Bahubali 2 Full Detailed Summary Part 3: Enter Anushka!
Happy Wednesday! By the way, this is your Tuesday Telugu post (one day late) as well. It was going to be Enthiran/Robot which suddenly popped up on Netflix streaming. But Bahubali 2 is taking up all my time, so you are going to have to wait another week before I write that up. (part 1 here, part 2 here)
Tuesday Telugu/Tamil Special Edition: BAAHUBALI!!!! Second Half, Second Post! (SPOILERS)
Baahubali!!!!! Instead of my regular Malayalam post yesterday, I put up the first half of this Baahubali review, because it was dubbed in Malayalam and a big hit there too. And now the second half is today’s Telugu/Tamil post, because obviously it was also a big hit in Telugu and Tamil versions. And also, I am putting so much work into going through the film scene by scene, I don’t have time to do any additional post yesterday or today.
Special Monday Malayalam Post: BAAHUBALI!!!! (Part 1) Let’s Talk About 1, Before 2 Comes Out!
BAAHUBALI!!!!! I saw it 7 times in 10 days in the theater (Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday again, and another Tuesday), and then pre-ordered the DVD and watched it 4 more times with the few friends who had missed it in theaters. But that was a couple months before I started the blog, so I’ve never actually written a review of it. But now that Baahubali 2 is about to come out (FINALLY!), it’s time. And since this is a looooooooooooooong one, I am splitting it in two days, Monday and Tuesday. Hey, it was released in both Malayalam and Telugu/Tamil, right?
Tuesday Telugu: Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha, When the Village Feud Movie Meets the Police Film and a Coward is Caught in the Middle
What a fun movie! Just a fun light movie. And kind of more clever than I would expect from a Telugu movie. I may need to track down the other film by this director. Oh, and also Nani was very fun. I thought I just liked him in Eega because Eega is the greatest film of all time, but now I think he is kind of great even in non-Greatest Film of All Time films.
Tuesday Tamil: Padayappa, Bahubaali’s Queen is EEEEEEVIL!!!! Also, Rajnikanth
This was before Indra, right? So the similarities aren’t a coincidence? Or else they are both picking up on an older traditional I don’t know about. There are some Mahabharata touches to it, but the jealous overlooked woman and the vengeance in the second generation, that is oddly specific.
