I did a post earlier this week about kisses onscreen, now let us use our imagination and figure out which of these faces most and best deserves a kiss, onscreen or off.Continue reading
Such a good movie! I keep waiting for it to become a cult classic, for more people to discover it, but so far it seems to still be forgotten by the world. But I will try to help by making it my Mother’s Day pick!Continue reading
I think I may have finally figured out what I like about Gautham Menon films. It took a while, because they seem like the kind of film I shouldn’t like, perfect heroes and opaque heroines. But with this film, I think I have cracked it. Oh, and also, Ajith looks goooo-ooooood with grey hair! Which is neither here nor there, but I felt it should be acknowledged.Continue reading
Like I said with Part 1, Mirchi was the first true Telugu film I watched, and I was super excited and wrote a very very long email to moviemavengal/Pardesi about it. And then a few years ago I took that email and turned it into a very very long review. Part 1 went up a bit ago, here is Part 2.Continue reading
The origin of this post is a very very VERY long email that I sent moviemavengal/Pardesi after I first watched this movie. So be aware that it is my reaction to my first regular real Telugu film ever, and I was very excitedContinue reading
I posted this late Wednesday night, but it got very very few views. I am hoping that is because people just didn’t see the post, not because they hate it. I have TV again thanks to youtube, which means I am seeing Overboard on a constant repeat, the way TV tends to play it. And I am thinking, once again, how easy it would be to fix this and make it the totally perfect plot. And so long as I am doing that, why not set it in India?Continue reading

You know what is good for SAD? An excuse to look at puppies! That, along with the slight glimpse of sun today, is going to cheer me right up!Continue reading
I’ve already done saris and Anarkalis, this year I am thinking small. And also something we can all have opinions on, no need to be experts. Right? I’m assuming most of us wear/own/have bought earrings.Continue reading
Happy Sunday! I have to go lead a meeting at church in a bit, but first I get to be totally frivolous and ridiculous with the Silly Sunday stories. Hopefully I don’t mix this up with my meeting agenda and accidentally start reading it aloud.
Happy Tuesday! The box office figures for this week released early, so I already wrote about them, which gives me an opening in the schedule to do a news round-up. What fun!
It came up in discussion that Hrithik has one tragic gap in his filmography: not enough straight sexiness!!!! And, as his impending inevitable sexy horizon comes ever closer (have you see Rakesh? Not a good sign for middle-aged Duggu!), it is increasingly important that he grabs these chances while he has them. Also from discussion, why is there no movie about a movie star falling in love with an average girl? It seems like such an obvious fantasy!
Well, it’s the B2 anniversary today. And I truly have NOTHING left to say about it. I’ll be reposting my index of full coverage in case you want a trip through memory lane, but in terms of thematic analysis and so on, I am empty. However, I can always write fanfic!!!! So the best I can do for new content is remix the plot and set it in different eras.
I can’t decide if there were too many twists or just the right amount of twists in this movie. Either way, it is way more enjoyable to watch the film without knowing the twists in advance, so DON’T READ THE SPOILERS.
Happy Friday! My goodness this has been a frustrating day. The second I get in to anything at work the phone rings and I have to stop. Whether it is blogging or sending an email or doing accounting stuff for work-work, I just don’t have long enough to be able to focus on it. I am writing this right now at about 2pm, we’ll see if I am able to finish and publish this thing before midnight. Anyway, Red! For AIDs and Christmas!!!
Happy Sunday! Much later than usual. Because I am visiting my sister and I was busy learning how to crochet and stuff. Which brings me to this post! In honor of my sister industriously knitting away next to me, and our conversation on the TGIF post of the lack of nice handmade sweaters in the world, a knitting themed fanfic post!!!!
(did you think I didn’t remember I skipped last Tuesday? I did! I felt terrible! So this is to make up) I think I may have finally figured out what I like about Gautham Menon films. It took a while, because they seem like the kind of film I shouldn’t like, perfect heroes and opaque heroines. But with this film, I think I have cracked it. Oh, and also, Ajith looks goooo-ooooood with grey hair! Which is neither here nor there, but I felt it should be acknowledged.
Hmm. After the full flush of creativity last week, I don’t really have much this week. I need ideas! Give me help in the comments! Your favorite movie, book, actor couple anything to start me off. For instance, this week I am starting off from a casual comment DilDeewana made about how she loves Emma for the you’ve-been-standing-in-front-of-me-all-along-and-I-just-realized-I-love-you! trope (also, DilDeewana, make sure to watch Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na if you haven’t already). So, let’s work with that!
Happy Jab Harry Met Sejal Week! I always get a scattering of complaints when I do theme weeks like this. Which might be my fault, because I don’t make it clear why I am doing this and what it really is (not just fangirling over a new big release). And I know I have a lot of new readers now, so I am going to quickly explain why there is this thusness before moving on in the post.
Mad at me, but still willing to help, having sensed that my blog views were way way down over the past few days, he provided me with content. See, even when we are in a fight, he still cares.
Yaaaay, another cute trailer! Which basically gives away the entire plot! But it’s a good plot, so I’m fine with that. Really, most of the time I think if you don’t want to see a movie once you know the plot, then it’s a baaaaaaad movie. We should enjoy films for more than just the plot, there are the characters and the dialogue and everything else. And this film is definitely going to be about the characters. (oh, and it was posted with subtitles right from the start, so I think this is a clear sign that Shahrukh is reading my blog and loves me)
I am almost done with the official Bahubali novel, and I have to say, my fanfic matches my feeling for the films much better than the novels. I’m not saying it is better objectively, just that the things I liked from the films (strong characters, moral quandaries, a magical world, romantic love) are what I am playing around with in my fanfic, while the “real” novels are playing around with some whole other thing (it’s like the movies, but with sex! Lots and lots of graphic boring sex! And child killings) (full index of Bahubali posts, including the rest of the fanfic, here)
Well, apparently the promotion train is moving at an express pace, and I will need to put up one of these posts every day for the next month and a half (last one here). I guess I am okay with that. Anyway, New Teaser! More importantly, Subtitles!!! Most importantly, Shahrukh loves me and wants me to be happy and is showing it through subtitles on his trailers! I should take this as a sign of his undying devotion to me and go be a Gaurav outside Mannat, right?
