Most Powerful Songs of 2009, of Any Genre, Ranked
I already did kind of a lead up post to this, the general emotional songs that don’t fit any standard genre (sad song, love song, etc.). Now I am going to just go ahead and throw everything in a big heap, everything that is emotional whether it is love song, sad song, religious song, what have you. It was a really really good year. Also, save this post for the next time you have a sinus infection, it’s great for clearing your tear ducts right out.
Continue reading2009 Week, Billu! Shahrukh’s Only 2009 Release
Huh, look at that, an empty year just like we had in 2019. Only in 2009, we all knew it was because he was filming that thing for Karan that would turn out to be My Name is Khan.
Continue readingJoin Me For a Post-Thanksgiving Tweetalong! A Wonderful Communal Experience of Making Fun of Hrithik’s Overacting
Tweetalong alert! I haven’t done one of these in a while, but I’ve got this Friday off, and I love tweetalongs (so long as people show up to them), so why not?
Continue readingMost Emotional Song Sequences of 2009, Ranked
You know what’s weird about 2009? A surprisingly large number of those songs that are slow and deeply emotional but aren’t exactly love songs. Weird!
Continue reading2009 Week: Dev.D, Any Other Year This Would Have Been the Most Important Film
Devdas adaptations are always important, kind of a barometer for where India is right now and what issues surround the country. Plus, this was the film that announced Anurag Kashyap as a real true talent to watch. But on the other hand, 2009 was such an amazing year, I don’t know if it really can be limited to just Dev.D even as amazing and important as Dev.D is.
Continue readingMonday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me Thanksgiving Week?
Happy Monday! I had a very busy happy weekend, Albie Dog was miserable (lots of time locked in the kitchen), and now we are both back at work.
Continue readingAnyone Up for a Post-Thanksgiving Tweetalong?
Hey, quick question, anyone interested in a tweetalong next weekend? Angie just told me Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is on Prime, and there are loads of other good options too, and I’ve got 4 days off with nothing to do besides a three hour dinner, so why not?

Continue reading2010 Week: Dabangg!!!! 2010 Goes Out With a Surprisingly Progressive BANG!
This movie really really holds up. It’s a silly action film and it isn’t ashamed of that, but it also talks about caste, Polio, political use of religion, and other serious things that most films don’t discuss.
Continue readingPagalpanti Review (SPOILERS): A Series of Comic Set Pieces of Varying Quality
Well, this was a silly silly movie! I feel kind of silly putting up a “spoiler” review, because it is hardly worth spoiling. But what the heck, might as well.
Continue readingSaturday Small Talk: Chat Away While I Do Stuff
Happy Saturday! I have a busy day planned, possibly but not probably including seeing Maarjavaana. Anyway, you all can talk.
Continue readingPagalpanti Review (No Spoilers): No Sense for a Nonsense World
Boy was that a fun movie going experience! Sold out theater, everyone laughing, and complete utter entertaining stupidity.
Continue reading2010 Week: Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, My Favorite Film of 2010
Such a good movie! And such an interesting movie, a challenging movie, because it deals with the birth of a monster and how society was culpable in his birth, without also forgiving him for what he did or pretending he is less than what he was.
Continue readingDiscussion Post: What Jodi Do We Want to See as Siblings? Alternatively, What Jodi Do We NOT Want to See as Siblings?
Thank you Filmikudhi!!!! Great discussion question, I appreciate it and am using it and am curious what others will answer.
Continue readingTGIF: 2010 Week! Who Looked Best in 2010?
Forgive me if I am a few months off, I’m gonna try to find photos from the correct year based on film promotions and awards dates and stuff, but it could still be wrong (for instance, a MNIK event that was actually at the end of 2009 or something).
Continue readingTrailers! If My Other Options are Panipat, Tanhaji, and Sarileru Neekevvaru, Suddenly Dabangg 3 Looks Great
I just can’t do it. I CAN’T! I refuse to watch any more violent patriotic films. Go somewhere else for a review of Panipat and Tanhaji and probably Sarileru, or else just pretend they don’t exist like I will. I’m going to spend December and January staying home and watching movies from the early 2000s. Join me! Oh, and also Dabangg 3 which has suddenly become the only movie coming to theaters I actually want to watch.
