I don’t know why I haven’t reviewed this one before, I love it very very much. Kajal Aggarwal is a delight, Ajay is Peak Ajay, and the police uniforms leave nothing to the imagination (the best kind of uniform). Oh, and it’s on Netflix!

This is a suggestion from BollywoodNewbie/Alisa, which I am going to steal so long as I am still hacking my lungs out and unable to do “real” posts. What are the best songs for moving along a film narrative? Helping us understand the characters and situations better, not just creating a random unrelated moment? Or, to put it another way, what are songs that make you go “I really liked that, and now I want to know what else happens in the film”. And then you watch the film and aren’t disappointed, because the song accurately described what happened during part of the movie.

The final 12 days of Christmas post! Which I could probably skip, except it’s such a fun one I can’t resist.

Ittefaq! Really well-made movie. Not the greatest movie ever, but very very well-done. Worth revisiting.

I’m deep in my sick viewing of soothing BBC period dramas. Pretty clothes, pretty period houses, fruity British accents, and very slow moving plots. But surely India can give us all that and more? Just replace the fruity British accents with classical Urdu influenced ones. And a Silly Sunday post is a nice easy way for me to get back in the swing of writing.

Hello hello! I got 5 hours of sleep last night, went to my acupuncture appointment, and drank oodles of tea, and I think I might, maybe, be coming out the other side. Except now I’ve written that down and it is jinxed and I will be sicker than ever tomorrow.

Were you thinking “boy, Margaret hasn’t posted anything at all for 24 hours she must be really sick?” You were right. I reached the point of asking my parents to come over and help me tonight, do laundry and dishes and bring me more orange juice. And, most humiliating, take Dog Hazel home with them because I am too sick to take care of her. But! I promised a Happy New Year review! Even if it takes me multiple little 5 minute spurts of clear thinking to do it. Oh shoot, wasn’t I supposed to do a TGIF post too? Ugh. I’ll repost something and come back here and keep going.

I can’t believe I have had a cold for over a week. And it keeps getting worse! How is that possible? How far down the rabbit hole of illness can I go? It’s supposed to be just a cold! Those things only last a few days and you don’t even have to take time off work!

I am never going to be healthy again. My sinuses hurt so much I can’t sleep, I was up until 6am last night. Not like tossing and turning up, but like actually sitting upright on the couch watching TV to distract me until 6am. And then napping fitfully until 10am. Anyway, Vitamin C! That will fix me!

Well, I managed to make it 6 and a half hours at work today, sitting upright in clothes like a person, and then I gave up and went home and put on a bathrobe and ordered a ridiculous amount of chicken soup from “One of the Few Jewish Delis in Chicago” (that’s on the big sign in the window). I’m gonna manage the Happy New Year review tomorrow, because I promised you, but today is going to be all silly song posts, sorry. On the other hand, I got about $8,000 in unpaid bills for work in 6 hours of phone calls, so yaaaay! Work-work! Paychecks! Rent money!

Sorry, I missed yesterday’s gift. And all the other days before. But it’s really the last four that lend themselves best to Indian film songs (ladies dancing, lords a leaping, pipers piping, drummers drumming).

I’m hoping to get a new Malayalam review up sometime this week, but what with being sick and this that and the other thing, I can’t promise what movie it will be and when it will go up. However, next week I can promise a rerun!!!! And highly recommend it in hopes it gets new people to watch it. I’ll repost my review in a week, on Wednesday the 9th.

I was just browsing around and saw this was on Netflix and couldn’t resist encouraging you all to watch it. It’s so good! And so surprising and so well made and also, a bit short. Well worth a rerun of the review this Sunday, 1/6.

Why not, right? It is the new year, after all. It’s not a great movie, but it can be a fun movie, and I haven’t reviewed it yet.

Fun times! We all get to try to convince each other which film was the absolute best and which was the absolute worst. And if there is a concensus in the comments, that film will get the great honor of being the DCIB Worst or Best of the year!

Well, this is a depressing way to end the year. Fever of 100 degrees according to my funky thermometer. Or, possibly, 98.6. Or 93. I am not good at taking my temperature. Anyway, distract me and give me something to do as I wait for my body to burn out illness like a self-cleaning oven.

Another life update! It’s weird doing these, but it’s a little better than just putting up an announcement “sorry, no new posts” over and over again. I mean, it essentially is just saying “no new posts”, but with a little bit of entertaining life details.
