Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me as I Travel???

Happy Monday! This post comes to you from the Halifax airport! We take a flight from here to Toronto and then Toronto to Chicago, and then I am finally home with Albie Dog by about 5pm Chicago time. Everything would be working perfectly except that my headphones broke so I have to hold the right ear in place with my hand. This is a bit of a problem because the headphones are both my preferred method of airplane entertainment and (way more important) the best solution for MASSIVE PRESSURE CHANGE EAR PAIN. So, I will just have to hold them on my head really tight with both hands and then it will be fine. Yes, I already checked, the airport stores are sold out.

Koffee With Karan: Shweta and Abhishek

I’m trying to catch up on Koffee. It’s hard, because you know how detailed I like to be in my discussions! And this is probably going to be another detailed one. But then, it was also a really interesting episode. I can always hope the others are dull and then it will be easy to write about them.

Katching Up on Koffee: Diljit and Badshah! Two nice boys from the Punjab!

What an interesting episode!!!!  Exactly what we have been asking for, Karan breaking out of the usual circuit of guests and being open to new topics and new considerations.  Also, yes, a lot about Salman and Shahrukh, but from a different angle than usual.

Katching Up With Koffee: Ajay and Kajol!!! A Marriage That Works for Them

Huh.  Well, the season is really going now, and it looks like this will be season of interesting personal stories and connections.  I am down with that!  After Saif-Sara and Janhvi-Arjun, we have another very private and unusual connection between two people.  Actually, three people.  Because Karan is part of it this time around.

Katching Up With Koffee: Janhvi and Arjun, Get Ready to Want to Give Them Both a Big Hug!

Oh my, that was a tearjerker!  And not in a forced obvious way, but just because it’s so sad, and so happy at the same time.  And I am so glad Karan eased them through it and now the first interview is done and they have it behind them.

News Round-Up: Shahrukh Stuff I Don’t Believe, Kangana Manikarnika Oddness, Yash Raj Promotes Thugs and Sui Dhaaga, Item Songs Are Everywhere

Happy News Round-Up Day!  There is, as is often the case, very little actual news.  But I can still entertain myself by thinking about what is behind the particular kind of fake or empty news stories we are being fed.

Hindi Film 101: Star’s and the Masks They Wear and How to Talk About Them

I just got in trouble again, some more, for discussing and critiquing a star persona which was seen as critiquing the person behind it.  Which made me start to think about how I define for myself the star persona versus the person behind it.

Happy Birthday Emraan! My Favorite of the Imran/Emraans!

(This is an updated and reposted post from last year) If you’d asked me 9 years ago when Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na came out, I never would have said that Emraan would be my favorite Imraan/Emraan.  But today, oh my goodness!  He has beaten his homonym by a mile!  And today he is 38 and still going strong!  Here are 38 separate reasons I love him (yes, most of them are videos).

(Also, that photo up top makes me crack up)

Katching Up With Koffee: Mira and Shahid’s Debut! Sweet or Sickening?

Well, this was FASCINATING!!!  I’m watching them out of order, so I just finished the Jackie and Sid episode, which was a bit tricky because there isn’t much that the audience was interested in learning about them.  In comparison with Shahid and Mira, where we want to know EVERYTHING.

Katching Up With Koffee: Siddharth and Jacqueline, Making Interest Out of Nothing

This was an interesting episode!  Mostly because of the challenge it posed to Karan, how is he going to get the audience interested in these two people that we just don’t really care about that much?  It’s the same problem he had with Parineeti and Aditya Roy Kapoor, but I think he handled it better this time.
