For your enjoyment, I have dug out the bestest Indian film based Bernie Memes! And now our job is to decide which is BEST. (and thank you Patricia Merry for alerting me to the existence of these)Continue reading
Okay, I did the bright side of the delightful surprises of 2019, let’s look at the disappointments! The movies or casting or whatever we were kind of excited about and then it didn’t pan out.Continue reading
Once again, I am running late. But this wasn’t a super interesting episode, so hopefully it won’t take me long to write it up.Continue reading
I’m trying to catch up on Koffee. It’s hard, because you know how detailed I like to be in my discussions! And this is probably going to be another detailed one. But then, it was also a really interesting episode. I can always hope the others are dull and then it will be easy to write about them.Continue reading
Happy Saturday! And (hopefully) the day I finally see Simmba! And also get enough sleep, that would be good too.Continue reading
Finally I am writing this post! It took long enough, I’m sorry. The Koffee posts are some of the most time consuming to write, and what with being super sick, I kept running out of energy to sit upright and be awake.Continue reading
I know, this is late, but it’s Christmas Eve, is anyone really waiting for this post to go up?Continue reading
What an odd combo. Two actors who never co-starred, aren’t known to be friends, and aren’t even related. And yeah, it’s pretty boring. Best part of the episode is the Bahubali episode teaser at the end.Continue reading
What an interesting episode!!!! Exactly what we have been asking for, Karan breaking out of the usual circuit of guests and being open to new topics and new considerations. Also, yes, a lot about Salman and Shahrukh, but from a different angle than usual.
Huh. Well, the season is really going now, and it looks like this will be season of interesting personal stories and connections. I am down with that! After Saif-Sara and Janhvi-Arjun, we have another very private and unusual connection between two people. Actually, three people. Because Karan is part of it this time around.
Oh my, that was a tearjerker! And not in a forced obvious way, but just because it’s so sad, and so happy at the same time. And I am so glad Karan eased them through it and now the first interview is done and they have it behind them.
Huh! One of the best episodes so far, and I would not have expected that! Just the right mood and the right chemistry I guess, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.
Well, that was boring. It’s been a boring season in general, but this one was particularly energyless. Aamir really needs someone with him, I loved him last year with the two actresses, and his Kiran episode is adorable, but this was mostly just bleh.
I love Koffee season. And this was another great episode, I didn’t think Ranveer and Akshay would work well (and there were a few draggy parts), but they turned out to have great chemistry!
I love you us.hotstar.com!!!!!! I think I may have been able to watch this even before the India broadcast? Anyway, get a hotstar subscription, all you people reading this! It’s worth it!
Happy News Round-Up Day! There is, as is often the case, very little actual news. But I can still entertain myself by thinking about what is behind the particular kind of fake or empty news stories we are being fed.
I just got in trouble again, some more, for discussing and critiquing a star persona which was seen as critiquing the person behind it. Which made me start to think about how I define for myself the star persona versus the person behind it.
(This is an updated and reposted post from last year) If you’d asked me 9 years ago when Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na came out, I never would have said that Emraan would be my favorite Imraan/Emraan. But today, oh my goodness! He has beaten his homonym by a mile! And today he is 38 and still going strong! Here are 38 separate reasons I love him (yes, most of them are videos).
(Also, that photo up top makes me crack up)
Well, this was FASCINATING!!! I’m watching them out of order, so I just finished the Jackie and Sid episode, which was a bit tricky because there isn’t much that the audience was interested in learning about them. In comparison with Shahid and Mira, where we want to know EVERYTHING.
This was an interesting episode! Mostly because of the challenge it posed to Karan, how is he going to get the audience interested in these two people that we just don’t really care about that much? It’s the same problem he had with Parineeti and Aditya Roy Kapoor, but I think he handled it better this time.
Koffee With Karan report! I was very curious about this episode, because Aamir doesn’t do many interviews. And the Dangal girls haven’t really given any so far. And it didn’t turn out too badly!
It’s a good thing they are charming, because they aren’t really anything else. Not famous, not controversial, not really anything. But charming! Very enjoyable people to spend 45 minutes with.
I don’t mean he’s getting the famous Kapoor figure (fingers crossed he never has that). Or the onscreen charm (he has always had that), but he is beginning to get just a hint of that terrifying interview quality. From what I’ve seen and read, it sounds like all the Kapoor men (except Shashi) have that a little bit, that slight hint of “Lord of the Manor, Don’t Cross Me or I’ll Have You Killed” in their eyes. On the other hand, Ranveer is still a total sweetheart. (first episode discussed here, and second here, and third here)
