Shahrukh Week Continues! In Honor of the Royal Visit, a Discussion of His Royal Performances!

Happy Shahrukh Week Day 2!  Only 5 days left for Fan!  Of course, he is taking a break from Fan promos (although supposedly there was a discussion of having the royal couple do a “Jabra Fan” dubsmash) to greet the royal couple.  I’ll also take a break from Fan, to think about Shahrukh and his royal roles.

DDLJ Part 8: In Honor of Fan Week, I’m Going to Pick It Back Up Again for a Bit! Also, Let’s Rent a Room in a House in Switzerland!

DDLJ!  4 months ago, I started trying to work through every SRKajol movie, I finished Baazigar and Karan-Arjun, and then hit DDLJ and suddenly I turned into that picky eater kid who takes 4 hours to finish a bowl of cereal.  I’m just savoring every single bite!  And moving forward at a rate of 2,000 words per every 5 minutes.

(part 1 here, part 2 here, part 3 here, part 4 here, part 5 here, part 6 here, part 7 here, part 8 here, part 9 here, part 10 here, part 11 here, part 12 here, part 13 here, part 14 here, part 15 here, part 16 here)

Law Point: I Had a Really Really Hard Time Getting Past the First Five Minutes

Law Point!  My third Malayalam film of the week!  I have to get them all out now, because Fan-Fever starts next week and I will be dedicating my life to that for the foreseeable future.  Anyway, I really liked the plot and the actors and the characters and all sorts of other things in this film.  But the introduction of our hero was so evil, it kind of distracted me the entire time.

Seiches and Fan’s Rapidly Approaching Release Date

I don’t have anything to watch this weekend!  Maybe I will actually be desperate enough to try out a Telugu release in theaters (Sardaar Gabbar Singh is supposed to be a sequel to a remake of Dabangg, and I feel like I have seen Dabangg enough that I could probably figure out what is happening).  But after weeks of having something new and exciting every Friday, the Hindi prospects this week are just dismal.

Lucia/Enakkul Oruvan Review

I am so embarrassed! I got confused and accidentally watched the Tamil remake of Lucia first!  And now I can’t go back, my primary reference is always going to be the second version not the original!  The best I can do to make up for it is to review them both together.

(Luckily, moviemavengal did not make the same mistake, and was able to watch the original unspoiled!  Check out her review here)

Ki & Ka Full Summary: It Felt Like A Series of Sitcom Episodes (SPOILERS!)

I already posted a spoiler-y review and a non-spoiler review, but just in case you left before it ended, or arrived late, or went to the bathroom in the middle and think you missed a scene, here is the whole thing described as best I can remember.  Or, you know, you can skip watching it entirely and just read this.  But frankly, the movie was disappointing enough I would recommend neither reading nor watching, if you can manage it.

Kali Review: My First Malayalam Movie in Theaters! Also, It Was Really Good! (SPOILERS)

I saw a Malayalam movie in theaters!  Because my friend convinced me I should be brave and risk no subtitles.  It was really really good!  And subtitled, thank goodness.

(if you want to see a different review, moviemavengal has posted hers here)

Ki & Ka Review: So Many Roads Left Untraveled! (SPOILERS!)

I already posted a spoiler-free review, now here’s the one with lots of spoilers!  Not because I want you to know every detail of the film (that’s what my full summary is for, going up sometime soon), but because I want to talk about parts of the film that are directly plot related and how they affect my analysis.

Watching Khoobsurat after Neerja

I watched Khoobsurat for the 4th time last night (I missed it in theaters, but have seen it 4 times on DVD after a friend told me I HAD to watch it).  It’s just as good as it ever was, but it’s also a whole different experience watching it having just seen Neerja.  In all sorts of ways.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo: 3 and 1/2th Watch! Still Good!

I saw Prem Ratan Dhan Payo in theaters twice and bought it on DVD the day it came out, but I’ve only watched it 1 and a half times since it left theaters (the half is because my sister already watched the first half while I was at work, and then we watched the end together).  But you know, I think I may like it even more on DVD than I did on the big screen.
