So, a few more details about the party are now available. And they all make me go, “Huh. I probably would have skipped out and gone to Anant Ambani’s do instead too.”
Shahrukh Week Continues! In Honor of the Royal Visit, a Discussion of His Royal Performances!
Happy Shahrukh Week Day 2! Only 5 days left for Fan! Of course, he is taking a break from Fan promos (although supposedly there was a discussion of having the royal couple do a “Jabra Fan” dubsmash) to greet the royal couple. I’ll also take a break from Fan, to think about Shahrukh and his royal roles.
The Royals Met Shahrukh! The High Point of Their Visit, So Far as I am Concerned!
Finally, the only thing I really care about, the Royals went to the Asian Trust charity party and got to meet famous people! So many pictures! (I’ll be posting more as they come up)
The Royals Are Here! And They Get to Meet Shahrukh!
William and Kate landed about 5 hours ago and went straight to the Taj Hotel. Which is just what I did the first time I went to India! It’s like we’re the same people!
(Go here for my post on the full schedule of their visit)
DDLJ Part 8: In Honor of Fan Week, I’m Going to Pick It Back Up Again for a Bit! Also, Let’s Rent a Room in a House in Switzerland!
DDLJ! 4 months ago, I started trying to work through every SRKajol movie, I finished Baazigar and Karan-Arjun, and then hit DDLJ and suddenly I turned into that picky eater kid who takes 4 hours to finish a bowl of cereal. I’m just savoring every single bite! And moving forward at a rate of 2,000 words per every 5 minutes.
(part 1 here, part 2 here, part 3 here, part 4 here, part 5 here, part 6 here, part 7 here, part 8 here, part 9 here, part 10 here, part 11 here, part 12 here, part 13 here, part 14 here, part 15 here, part 16 here)
Happy Shahrukh Week!!! Let’s Talk About Billu and Fan!
Happy Shahrukh Week! It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And this year, it’s happening twice! Woot-woot! So, look for another week of posts before Raees on Eid.
FanVid Post! Because There Were No New Movies and I Stayed Home and Browsed YouTube Instead!
Fanvids! My favorite kind of vid! And there are so many good ones that I haven’t seen before! Or at least, haven’t posted the link to before.
Law Point: I Had a Really Really Hard Time Getting Past the First Five Minutes
Law Point! My third Malayalam film of the week! I have to get them all out now, because Fan-Fever starts next week and I will be dedicating my life to that for the foreseeable future. Anyway, I really liked the plot and the actors and the characters and all sorts of other things in this film. But the introduction of our hero was so evil, it kind of distracted me the entire time.
News Round-Up: Full of Conflict! Sunny vs the Censors, Amitabh vs Panama, The Jungle Book vs Fan, and India vs Suicide
New round-up time! There’s a lot of things I’ve let slip through the cracks over the past few days, let’s see if I can run through them all!
Salt n’ Pepper: Cute cute cute! Just Made Me Smile the Whole Time!
Continuing to work through the whole list of movies people recommended to me, Salt n’ Pepper! Such an adorable movie. Not like a super super great movie, but so lovable! Like a big floppy puppy!
Seiches and Fan’s Rapidly Approaching Release Date
I don’t have anything to watch this weekend! Maybe I will actually be desperate enough to try out a Telugu release in theaters (Sardaar Gabbar Singh is supposed to be a sequel to a remake of Dabangg, and I feel like I have seen Dabangg enough that I could probably figure out what is happening). But after weeks of having something new and exciting every Friday, the Hindi prospects this week are just dismal.
Is Karan Johar’s Long Term Business Plan to Collect Everyone’s Children?
A couple of unrelated casting stories came out yesterday about some films Dharma has in production. Well, unrelated except that they both prove Karan Johar is the choice of stars looking for a safe place to launch their kids.
North 24 Kaatham: I Still Don’t Get Fahadh Faasil, But I Still Liked It!
So, this was an interesting movie! Almost too subtle for me to follow. Or maybe I just wasn’t paying enough attention (I was trying to finish it while getting ready for work).
1st Quarter Box Office: In Stars We Trust
Bollywoodhungama, because they are the best in the world, have posted a summary of the 1st quarter 2016 box office totals. And the picture is pretty clear: Major Male Stars still run the world.
Lucia/Enakkul Oruvan Review
I am so embarrassed! I got confused and accidentally watched the Tamil remake of Lucia first! And now I can’t go back, my primary reference is always going to be the second version not the original! The best I can do to make up for it is to review them both together.
(Luckily, moviemavengal did not make the same mistake, and was able to watch the original unspoiled! Check out her review here)
Ki & Ka Full Summary: It Felt Like A Series of Sitcom Episodes (SPOILERS!)
I already posted a spoiler-y review and a non-spoiler review, but just in case you left before it ended, or arrived late, or went to the bathroom in the middle and think you missed a scene, here is the whole thing described as best I can remember. Or, you know, you can skip watching it entirely and just read this. But frankly, the movie was disappointing enough I would recommend neither reading nor watching, if you can manage it.
Kali Review: My First Malayalam Movie in Theaters! Also, It Was Really Good! (SPOILERS)
I saw a Malayalam movie in theaters! Because my friend convinced me I should be brave and risk no subtitles. It was really really good! And subtitled, thank goodness.
(if you want to see a different review, moviemavengal has posted hers here)
Kali: I Saw It in the Theater! So I am Posting a Spoiler-Free Review In Case You Haven’t Seen It Yet!
I actually went to a theater and watched a Malayalam film! I am so proud of myself. Of course, I cheated a little and picked a movie with a title I can actually pronounce without struggling.
Happy Birthday Remo D’Souza!
Happy Birthday Remo D’Souza! One of my top 5 favorite choreographers!
Ki & Ka Review: So Many Roads Left Untraveled! (SPOILERS!)
I already posted a spoiler-free review, now here’s the one with lots of spoilers! Not because I want you to know every detail of the film (that’s what my full summary is for, going up sometime soon), but because I want to talk about parts of the film that are directly plot related and how they affect my analysis.
Ki & Ka Review: Well, That Was Disappointing! (No Spoilers!)
I saw Ki & Ka! It was not as good as it could be. In many many ways. Many many many ways. But the soundtrack was good, and Kareena looks fabulous, so it wasn’t a total loss!
(moviemavengal reviews it here. She liked it a little better than me.)
Watching Khoobsurat after Neerja
I watched Khoobsurat for the 4th time last night (I missed it in theaters, but have seen it 4 times on DVD after a friend told me I HAD to watch it). It’s just as good as it ever was, but it’s also a whole different experience watching it having just seen Neerja. In all sorts of ways.
In Honor of Calcutta: My Favorite Calcutta Songs
Horrible news out of Calcutta today. I can’t really do anything to make it better, but at least I can put up a post in honor of the city today.
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo: 3 and 1/2th Watch! Still Good!
I saw Prem Ratan Dhan Payo in theaters twice and bought it on DVD the day it came out, but I’ve only watched it 1 and a half times since it left theaters (the half is because my sister already watched the first half while I was at work, and then we watched the end together). But you know, I think I may like it even more on DVD than I did on the big screen.
News Round-Up part 2: SO MUCH DRAMA!!!
I know I already did a round-up today, but then I checked the Times of India, and there was all this new good stuff that I just had to talk about.
