Happy Sunday! Just like last week, this was a bit last minute, so if no one is able to join by 15 minutes into the film, I’ll just end it and go about my life. Partly because this movie is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to scary to watch all by myself.

Shahrukh Birthday Countdown, Fan! A Brand New Review!
Yet another movie from back before I had figured out how to review movies! So I’m starting from scratch.
Continue readingMonth of SRK: 8 SRK Movies To Learn His Life Story
Thanks for the suggestion Emily! Shahrukh (as most celebrities/actors do) has used his real life trauma to support his performances and promote his films. Which also means we can easily find 8 movies to watch if you want to get a sense of the emotional journey of the “real” SRK!
Continue readingShahrukh Summer: Happy Endings for Sad Shahrukh Movies
I don’t actually think these are “better” endings, I just like happy endings, even if they aren’t true to the rest of the narrative. Every film should end with a marriage and a baby and a happy reprise of the title song. So in my headcanon, these are how these movies end. Happy happy!
Continue readingSunday ReRun: Fan! Yash Raj’s Riskiest Movie
This is honestly such a brilliant movie. I would recommend it to anyone, that is, anyone who was serious about film and popular culture. It’s not a “fun” watch, but it is a challenging and ultimately rewarding watch.
Continue readingShahrukh Movies Outside of the Standard List
I don’t even care, I’m just doing posts that are fun for me! We all know Shahrukh’s top TOP movies, but what are the lessor known films that are still surprisingly decent?
Continue readingShahrukh Birthday RePost: Shahrukh, the Invisible Actor
Another little story. Hopefully people like them, I certainly like writing them and thinking about all the little moments that make up Shahrukh in my life.
Shahrukh Birthday Month Discussion Post: What Do You Think is His Best Performance?
And Saturday keeps rolling along! Flowers are in the window, groceries are put away, and before I start thinking about dinner, I need to get a Shahrukh discussion post up!
Shahrukh Story: Shahrukh the Invisible Actor
Another little story. Hopefully people like them, I certainly like writing them and thinking about all the little moments that make up Shahrukh in my life.
Hindi Film 101: Fan Identities and Shifting Stardom
Bollywood Newbie brought up a really interesting topic in my post on Aamir’s birthday yesterday. What identity does belonging to certain fandoms give you? This is kind of a high level fan study/media meaning making topic, so I want to hear what you all think, but I also want to give you some framework for the discussion first.
Shahrukh Speaks on Film Controversies, Agrees With Me, This is Why I Am His Fan
Oh look, Shahrukh is saying something important just as my blog views are beginning to drag again. He loves me! It’s totally not a one-sided thing.
Happy 15 Days to Shahrukh’s Birthday!!!! 15 Best Characters He Has Played
Just to be clear, this is not best performances. “Performances” would mean he brought something extra to the role. Which of course he did, but here I want to focus on characters, characters as written in the script, who would have been interesting no matter who played them.
Index of Indexes: Every Film I have Covered in Detailed Scene By Scene Style
Let’s make this a little easier for you, if you want to just read my super super intense detailed analysis/coverage of individual films, the stuff no one else on The Internet or even in the real world really does, here are all the films (so far) that have gotten this kind of treatment. Just click on the name to be taken to their individual Indexes.
Continue readingSilly Sunday Speculative Post: After the Happy Ever After
I don’t know why, but I am feeling very contrary today. I have this strange desire to take light things and turn them dark, and dark things and turn them happy. Thank goodness I can work it out through fanfiction instead of going to the park and throwing things at pigeons.
Best Film of 2016: The People’s Choice is My Own!
I still haven’t tallied the final votes from my polling post on my 2016 film awards (still time to vote! I’ll be tallying and putting together the results post late tonight), but it looks like there is a strong trend in one direction for the Best Film choice, and it is the same movie that I keep returning to…Neerja.
Most Middle of the Road Movie of 2016 (In My Opinion)
It’s a race to the middle! And be warned, there is math involved in this calculation (blech, math!) This is just the “editor’s choice” option, remember. Go here to put in your vote for the readers’ choice for all 9 categories. I’ll be tallying votes at the end of the week and putting up another series of posts for each category.
2016 In Film on DCIB Blog: Readers Choice Post! VOTE HERE!
2016 is over! Yaaaaaay! Now, let’s try to remember what was good about it. Here is every new Hindi releases that I saw in theaters and wrote a review of, in chronological order. And you get to vote on them! I’ll be putting up my own “Editor’s Choice” type Awards over the next week, and then at the end of the week I will post the results from this.
Happy 9 Days Until Shahrukh’s Birthday!
I did top 11 movies a couple days ago, I’m going to go slightly different today, and do top nine performances. Even if the movie as a whole doesn’t hold together, or even if it is so brilliant all around you never noticed what Shahrukh was doing, here are his greatest performances as an actor.
Sultan Box Office Predictions
This is entirely from the Hindustan Times which has done an amazing job laying (lying?) out the new realities of the box office for big ticket films. You should absolutely check out that full article, because it is fascinating! I just have a few things to add to it.
Weekend Worldwide Box Office: Baahubali is in Germany!
Oh, I wish I was in Germany! I could eat sausages and cheese and incredibly rich cream cakes, and watch Baahubali on the big screen again! 5 times just wasn’t enough!
Fan Part 10: All the Way to the End! (Spoilers!)
Yaaaaay! It’s over! I actually finding the ending of the film the hardest to watch, whether I am watching it in the theater or in my head while I write these summaries. Maybe the reason it has taken me so long to get here is because I am trying to put it off?

Fan Part 9: Was that a Rape Threat or Not?
Fan Part 8: Dubrovnik, London, and Back to Bombay
Okay, new plan! I just shoot for finishing in time to start over again with Baaghi on Friday. That seems doable, right? I’ve only got like 40 minutes left of screen, time but there are two really really important scenes right at the end that I really don’t want to shortchange.

Fan Full Summary, Part 7: Dubrovnik! (Spoilers, of course)
Yay, Dubrovnik! My sister did a study abroad in eastern Europe and was fascinated by how Croatia was promoted as the sunny happy weekend getaway place. But now that I’ve seen Dubrovnik (on film), I totally want to go there for my next sunny happy weekend getaway! It’s beautiful!

The Connection Between Fan and Sholay
Here’s a cool thing I just stumbled across through an interview! There’s actually a close connection between the films Fan and Sholay.
