I saw it! Not opening night, but soon enough. Theater was half full, half the audience was talking and the other half was shushing them, very odd dynamic. I’m used to all talking or no one, not this mix and match. Which kind of fit the mix and match I saw within the film.
Well, it finally got approved. And I kind of agree with everything the Censors did. At least, as it is presented by them and the spin they are putting on it. I am sure there are all kinds of political realities on the ground that I am missing which makes them not so great. Oh, and I think we can aaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllll agree that swapping Vaani for Shraddha is a disaster of epic proportions.
Happy Wednesday! Padmavati comes out in 2 days (maybe), and December starts (definitely). And I am going to finish my Christmas presents on time (almost definitely maybe).
Well, the Padmavati issue has taken a slightly different turn, the release is actually delayed. I haven’t seen that with a big Hindi film recently, although I know it has happened before, both in Hindi and other language industries. And the delay and some other comments indicate that this is beginning to move into a different category, politics and violence. Which means you are all going to get mad at me again when I try to address it, and I may lose a few more readers (well, a lot of readers). And get a fair amount of notice by trolls and hate groups (don’t worry, I will block most of them). But I also feel a bit of an obligation to address it. And this is the toned down version, my original post was a lot angrier.
Okay, I am going to try to catch up on every interesting news story over the past few days in one big post! Some of these will be pretty short updates. Also, be warned, I haven’t had breakfast and the Padmavati news is irritating me, so I am in a pretty bad mood about all of these stories with no time to be diplomatic about how I address them.
Happy Veteran’s Day! I bring you greetings from my sister’s living room while we watch Nagarjuna on the TV (we needed something nice to wake up to). Very exciting to wake up to, SO MUCH NEWS!!!! Including the continuing saga of Abhishek.
Happy Monday! And the Padmavati trailer is out. Was released in the middle of the night. Quite a thing to wake up to! And be warned, this started as simple discussion of the trailer and ended up going into a whole different and very intense kind of direction. Which probably most of you will disagree with, I am happy to debate you in the comments so long as you remain respectful of those who disagree with you.
There are two parts to this story, and it’s the aftermath I find much more interesting and radical. So I’m going to start there and work backwards.
Not big news, really. Okay, a couple of these things might be big news. But mostly it is just confirmation that things are moving along in the direction we already thought they were headed.
