This is a really REALLY good script. Not the usual “obstacle, overcome, obstacle” sort of script, more a free floating series of events tied together by a central character conflict. And the character conflict is REAL. It’s not a “stupid people plot” reason, it’s a real life thing that is a real life problem. Until the end credits song which doesn’t even seem to fit with the depth of the rest of the film.

We watched it on Friday, which was super fun. But also we got all upset about the half done love story and I started thinking about how I would have written it to have a whole other second half that gave a more satisfying love story structure instead of the very light weight plot with a lot of dance competitions instead of relationship drama.

Sunday ReRun: Chhichore! A Nice College Comedy With A Surprising Ending

Well, that was a better movie than I expected! Not super duper great, but enjoyable and pleasant and well made with a very nice message. About a billion times better than Mission Mangal, for instance. And thus, deserving of a Sunday rerun post for those of you who missed it. Especially when Street Dancer 3D has us feeling all warm about Shraddha Kapoor.

Plot? Whoooooooo cares???? It’s all about the lights and the glamour and the big flippy things and so on. So read this review, you will still want to see the film anyway. Or not want to see the film if you are a hopelessly practical person who has no love for dance battles and learning lessons and that moment when the power goes out and there is no music but then magically they create their OWN music!!!!
