Happy Monday! I don’t have to work! And I may not be sitting in front of my computer waiting for your questions and quick to answer them, sorry about that. But I am still putting up the post! Just so we have it for the rest of the week.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!! Everyone else in the world has been doing their year end lists this past week, but not me! I am a COMPLETEST!!!! I will not do my 2017 awards until every last second of 2017 is finished.
Happy New Year’s Eve!!!! Obviously, I have to do a theme post. I considered stories that revolved around New Years celebrations, but then I wasn’t sure what that would look like in India, so instead I am going with my sister’s suggestion and doing New Year’s combined with time travel.

Continue readingI’m finally doing it! I’m putting reviews lists by star! There’s still the nice alphabetical everything version, but just in case you want to start with a particular actor, here is everything I have written. I will try to keep it updated.
This is the only Shahrukh movie I reviewed twice, once my academic style, once in the way that I would write it for all of you here on the blog.
A movie that I had almost forgotten, written off as a lot of style and no substance. And then the second half happened and surprised me!
I have no idea how to spell “avant garde”, let’s hope I got a little close. Anyway, this is Shahrukh as the stage actor, the Brechtian artistic type. A very odd film.
This is a fun pleasant nice little movie. Which has Shahrukh in it for no real good reason. Beyond the producer wanting to use his name, and Shahrukh owing the producer a favor.
Well, it finally got approved. And I kind of agree with everything the Censors did. At least, as it is presented by them and the spin they are putting on it. I am sure there are all kinds of political realities on the ground that I am missing which makes them not so great. Oh, and I think we can aaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllll agree that swapping Vaani for Shraddha is a disaster of epic proportions.
It’s not exactly a classic, but it’s also not bad. Really quite good in fact, with some amazing acting moments. Definitely worth getting its review reposted.
Bit of a controversial one, sorry if you like it, but I just don’t! And if you also don’t like it and have a hard time articulating why, maybe this review will help you.
Another one! A review of a classic Shahrukh film from back in the archives, pulled out and dusted off to entertain you while I am running around cleaning my house and stuff.
Think of this as one of those special clip shows that TV shows used to do for off weeks. I’m still playing catch up from the holidays, so I am putting in theme reruns. Which will have the added benefit of helping me finally put together the lists of reviews by Star. I did Salman first, because it is his Birthday Week, and now Shahrukh. Starting with Dil Aashna Hai, his first film (first shot, second released).
My final reposted Salman review! For his newest movie that I really really love. And which is something really extra remarkable.
Tere Naam! Another real Classic of a film. With an asterisk, indicating that it is in fact a remake of another classic film which launched Vikram, so it’s really more Vikram’s film than Salman’s. But the Hindi version is still great!
Some people just can’t get past the Conan-look to it. But I loved it!!! Despite the wigs and all.
The last one, Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, that was more just a movie I liked. This is an actual real classic by any measure.
It’s a pun! Do you get it? Because it is men who are smoking hot, and also actually smoking, like smoking cigarettes. Okay, so it’s kind of a lame theme, but I still have holiday brain, and who knows, maybe seeing all of these photos of themselves will inspire some of these guys to make it a New Year’s resolution to stop smoking.
Yesterday I did Salman, for his birthday, today Shahrukh. Think of it like those clip shows sitcoms used to do sometimes to fill empty weeks. I am still playing catch up from the holidays, so I am doing theme reruns to keep you entertained. Bonus, it is helping me finally organize my reviews by star, the way I have been wanting too! Oh, and I just love love love this movie. And it’s on Netflix! So anything I can do to promote it, even forcibly inserting it into this Shahrukh Day, is worth it.
This is slightly less classic than the others. But it’s a surprisingly good movie, and I really love the Twinkle and Salman chemistry in it.
Another Salman classic! Baaghi, a movie he wrote himself. And featuring another really really good performance from him.
