Breathe Season 2 Final Episode Recap/Review (SPOILERS): How Much Can You Do For Family?

The final episode!  Woot!  All our questions answered, sort of.  Enough left open to make for juicy discussion. (full index of Breathe coverage here)

Breathe Season 2 Episode 8: New Conflicts

Still not selling me on the twist!  Still ends up in less rather than more tension.  But there are some interesting misunderstandings in this episode which make it work a little bit better than the last episode.  And some careful foregrounding of new plot conflicts in hopes of getting the audience interested in them. Breathe Season 2 Episode 7: The Stakes Get Lower

Well, the show is struggling a bit to come back from that really not very logical twist.  It tries to build up more of a backstory for how it happened, but the bigger issue is that it makes the stakes so much lower, and therefore the tension we need to want to keep walking has kind of gone away. Breathe Season 2 Episode 6: TWIST!!!!

Well, on the one hand, I don’t like this ridiculous implausible twist.  But on the other hand, it kind of sideways adds a tension to the danger in this particular episode.  If the show manages to use it in that way moving forward, changing the layers of tension we see onscreen, I won’t mind it.

Breathe Season 2 Episode 5 Recap/Review: Connections

Now I’m getting a little worried.  A lot moves forward in this episode, and we aren’t even halfway down with the season.  Which means in order to not resolve it all within the next couple episodes, there will have to be some pretty ridiculous twists.  Or maybe not!  Maybe they will pull it off.  But I’m worried. Breathe Season 2 Episode 4 Recap/Review: Surprising New Couples (Lesbians!)

If I am reading this correctly, this season has 12 episodes instead of 8 in the first season.  Sometimes longer seasons can lead to confusion and blind alleys in the narrative as the show tries to fill more time than expected.  So far, I think this show is going the opposite direction. The first season sometimes felt rushed, and too many things at once.  This season is much more relaxed and enjoying the journey. (full index of reviews here)

Breathe Season 2 Episode 1 Recap/Review: Suffocation of Time Passing

Woot, season 2!  Like Season 1, this is a good solid procedural limited series thriller.  Not mind-blowingly good, no better than dozens of similar shows.  But no worse either, and watching these familiar actors shift their performance style from the melodrama of Indian film work to the subtle close up style acting of TV thrillers is fun. Breathe Amazon Series Final 2 Episodes! (SPOILERS): We End With Hope and a Hero

And we are at an end!  No more charming-but-murderous Maddy, no more troubled-but-reliable Amit, no more police jeeps driving through the streets of Bombay.  Well, unless you want to watch one of the many many movies that involve police jeeps driving through the streets of Bombay.  I recommend Talaash! Breathe Recap/Review (SPOILERS): Episodes 5 and 6, Opposing Forces Find their Places

Happy Thursday!  Sometime around midnight tonight (I haven’t figured out the schedule exactly yet) the last episode of Breathe will come out.  I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a second series at some point, so the story may not necessarily be over, but at least the first part will be resolved. (part 1 of my coverage here and part 2 here)

Tuesday Tamil: Breathe Review/Recap, First 2 Episodes (SPOILERS), Dark Interconnected Crime Drama Comes to India

I finally watched it!  Partly for Maddy, partly for my beloved Amit Sadh (if you like him in this, WATCH RUNNING SHAADI!).  They were both good.  And I am putting it up as a “Tuesday Tamil”, even though it is in Hindi, because really we are all watching if for Maddy mostly, and he is a Tamil industry guy. (part 2 here)
