Happy Monday! I have no water! The whole 6 month project of ripping up our street and replacing the pipes might, finally, be reaching the finale. Or this is just another little stop on the road to fully functioning pipes/street. But I like to think it is the finale.

And now I am relaxing in my big huge hotel bed and thinking “do I really want to leave here and go be beaten up by a 2 year old who is mad at me for not being Mommy?”

We take a flight from here to Toronto and then Toronto to Chicago, and then I am finally home with Albie Dog by about 5pm Chicago time. Everything would be working perfectly except that my headphones broke so I have to hold the right ear in place with my hand. This is a bit of a problem because the headphones are both my preferred method of airplane entertainment and (way more important) the best solution for MASSIVE PRESSURE CHANGE EAR PAIN. So, I will just have to hold them on my head really tight with both hands and then it will be fine. Yes, I already checked, the airport stores are sold out.

Continue readingHappy Monday! Well, happy for you, not me. Not unhappy for me, just exhausted. Between the yards of the house-house, and the summer opening of the lake house, I worked flat out in a variety of ways all of last week (just some random examples, last Sunday I hung curtain rods, this Thursday I carried a large dollhouse down from the attic, and on Saturday I dropped a paving stone on my finger). My eyes hurt, my back hurts, and I don’t want to move. I think next weekend I will officially give myself time off and not do ANYTHING.

On the one hand, that means I am absolutely not going into the lake itself or doing any lake-adjacent things (like kayaking and then following out and freezing). But on the other hand, it is so comfy and cozy to sit inside by the fireplace and look out at the lake.

Rainy, hovering around 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit, and then all of a sudden you have your first sunny 70 degree day and then it just keeps going sunny forever? Anyway, I’ve decided I want to drive up to the lake house after work, even though it hasn’t been fully opened for the season (no boats, no pier, no spring cleaning yet), and just camp out in the prettiness.
