Our last discussion post! So sad! Let’s see if we can bring the same excitement and rigor to the usual weekly Monday/Wednesday discussions after this is all over! Although I know it is hard when they aren’t Shahrukh based.
What with the Shahrukh Extravaganza, I haven’t celebrated Aish before this year. But now I’ve got time, why not! I’ll celebrate the part of her I like best, her song sequences.
Our last Shahrukh Month Review! So SAD!!!! There is still Jab Harry Met Sejal Day to look forward to on Sunday, but that won’t be a “new” movie to the blog. Oh well, there’s always the much less important holiday seasons of Diwali and Christmas to look forward to once Shahrukh Month is over.
Question from Procrastinatrix! Which I really liked so I am using. We have talked a lot about the movies or TV series we want from him as an actor, but what would we like to see him do beyond that?
This is a question someone asked me ages back and it has stuck with me. So I am stealing it to see if anyone can come up with a better answer than me!
I already did two posts on the criticisms I agree with (here and here). This is Shahrukh month, so we aren’t going to deal with those. Instead we are going to vent about the criticisms that tend to come up which are most unjustified, in this safe fan only space where we can all agree (or mostly agree) with each other.
We were talking in the Jab Tak Hai Jaan review about how “Ishq Shava” was such a different style of dance for Shahrukh and that got me thinking about the other songs that really showcase his dancing. If I miss one, feel free to add it in the comments. Oh, and this is NOT “Best Songs”. There’s all kind of amazing song sequences with perfect performances from him that are not included here, because they didn’t highlight dancing.
I am probably going to be busy at work again today, and I will definitely be sleepy because I woke up at 5am for no reason, so I am going to put up a post that will give me something interesting to read (I hope) while I try to stay awake and field phone calls. (don’t worry, there is also a Shahrukh themed TGIF going up later)
First, I did not miss yesterday even if you think I did!!!! I wrote a brilliant beautiful wonderful fanfic that more people should read. Shahrukh and Irrfan fall in love, it’s delightful. And now I am back to a nice little discussion post.
And Saturday keeps rolling along! Flowers are in the window, groceries are put away, and before I start thinking about dinner, I need to get a Shahrukh discussion post up!
I’m in that perfect mood of tired but wanting a distraction that leads to very short fanfic ideas. So, for today’s TGIF, let us look at photos of Shahrukh in real life and pretend they are characters he is playing.
There are a large number of films where he actually is playing his own age, or close to it. But for those few where he is clearly far far distant from the character age, here are my suggestions for how to fix it. It’s not hard, I don’t know why they didn’t just right it this way to begin with!
Such an interesting movie! A light tone and a dark story. In keeping with it’s predecessor, The Apartment. Oh, and don’t worry too much about SPOILERS on this one if you haven’t seen it before, everything is more or less predictable.
A question for the ages! Shahrukh versus other actors is easy, but what about Shahrukh versus himself?
This isn’t “best” songs, these are the ones that if you had to show somebody an example of what Shahrukh’s persona/personality is boiled all the way down to the basics, these are the ones you would pick.
This seems like a fun question that hopefully people will have many opinions on. It’s Saturday, there should be loads of time to talk with the internet.
I’m not talking about, like, hair clippings. I have never had any luck finding stuff like that. But there is plenty of other mass produced weirdness out there.
ZiziStreet/ZiziK is sadly no more, which has greatly lowered the number of high quality Shahrukh fanvids in the world. But there are still some good ones! And it’s a nice fun thing to write about and think about for his birthday month.
Oops, I almost forgot Amitabh’s Birthday! Oh well, better late than never. And instead of reposting the same old annual post, I am going to do something totally new, a post of songs of Amitabh not being afraid to loosen up and have a little fun as he gets older. While most men become more traditional and strict as they get older, Amitabh has become a little more wild and fun.
Another little Shahrukh story! Personal to me, nothing to do with anyone else, but I like putting in these little stories and building a vision of my almost 15 years of fandom.
A few of us were saying recently how nice we find it to watch Shahrukh interview videos, because he speaks so well and says such nice things. And so I have pulled together a fairly random collection of what I could find on youtube. Feel free to share your favorites in the comments.

I think I’ve referred to this in the past, but I’m not sure I’ve ever put up an actual picture. I’m not kidding when I say I have an actual alter to Shahrukh in my apartment.
Another little story. Hopefully people like them, I certainly like writing them and thinking about all the little moments that make up Shahrukh in my life.
This should be fun, for those of us who are SRK lovers. Or even not, so long as you have seen at least 2 Shahrukh movies, you can always have a least favorite.
