What a nice movie! A bit rambly and confusing, even more than usual for Malayalam films, but the characters are so interesting and nice that it keeps me going, and everyone ends in a good place.

Love Aaj Kal 2020: An Internal Character Drama About Modern Women Dressed Up As a Love Story
Yep, it’s a good movie! And Karthik and Sara both do wonderful jobs, especially Sara. Once again, Imtiaz’s vision failed to be captured by the trailers.
Continue readingScattershot Streaming Update: India Has Better Stuff Than Us
I’m strongly tempted to investigate VPNs again. I’m not gonna do it for Zee5 because they suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, but now I want it for Netflix India and HotStar India.
Continue readingWatched Kanan Gill’s Netflix Comedy Special and Curious About His Only Movie? Here is My Review of Noor Which is on Prime!
Well, shoot! This was not a great movie. After I spent all that time reading and thinking about the book, the film was just bleh. Kanan Gill was still amazing, but the rest of it really wasn’t worth it. Oh, and then the end credits song with Badshah and Diljit was fun too.
Continue readingLittle Things Season 3 Episode 8: Is This a Break Up or an Engagement? Or Somehow Both and Neither?
This is a very interesting open ending. It could be the end of the whole story for these characters, or the start of their next chapter, and the show leaves it open. Because right now, it is open for them too. (Little Things review index here)
Continue readingKanan Gill is on Netflix! The Perfect Happy Cheerful Thing to Watch Now
Do you like comedy, but don’t like people being mean, talking about sex, or bringing up scary real life stuff? Kanan Gill is the comic for you! I got to see him live because my life is better than yours, and now the same show I saw live has a Netflix special that just released. You should all watch it! It is delightful.
Continue readingLittle Things Season 3 Episode 7: How Did We Get Here
Yet again, the show fills in backstory and it makes you go “yeah, that seems right” as though it had been written all along. Because maybe it had, they just hadn’t filmed it yet. (Little Things Review index here)
Continue readingLittle Things Season 3 Episode 6: Messy Re-Entry
Hey, this episode is about why I decided not to go over to my apartment this weekend and instead stay at their place! It’s not the leaving, it’s the coming back, all those little micro-adjustments. And I’m just talking about an hour of adjustment following two days away, this episode is about the whole messy return after 6 months apart. Blech!
Continue readingLittle Things Season 3 Episode 5: The Moment You Know You Can Never Fully Forgive Your Parents
I avoided this episode, because I was afraid it would be too painful. But then the interesting thing is, it ended up being sadder because it was without pain. This relationship has a door that is so firmly shut, there isn’t even pain any more. It’s just over, and that is sad. (Little Things review index here)
Continue readingLittle Things Season 3 Episode 4: Mithila Thinks About Her Paths Not Taken
And the differences and distances keep coming! This episode and the next are structured differently, instead of cutting back and forth, we are seeing things solely from the perspective of one part of our separated couple, the other half only appearing in brief phone calls. (Little Things review index here)
Continue readingLittle Things Season 3 Episode 3 Review: Time Apart Flies By, But Then What?
This was brave, the whole season is set up around their long distance, and we get past the whole thing in one episode. But then, it’s a show about relationships, we don’t need to see them apart, we need to see the good-bye and the re-entry.
Continue readingLittle Things Season 3 Episode 2: This is So SAD!
Boy, that headline doesn’t make you want to watch the episode, does it? But it’s a good sad. A healthy sad. And the kind of sad we don’t usually see in art, normal every day non-tragic sad. Which is part of why it is sad, that you don’t feel like you have the right to these emotions. (Little Things review index here)
Continue readingLittle Things Season 2 FINAL EPISODE: Big Conversations, and Chaiyya Chaiyya!
Once again, nails the landing! Dhruv expresses himself in a way he has never really done before. And Mithila finally says the thing that will release them from the biggest issue of the season. (Little Things reviews index here)
Continue readingLittle Things Season 2 Episode 7: The Big Fight
Hoo boy! Glad we had the light episode before this one, because this one is HEAVY. Man, so heavy! Everything from the whole season before this comes together in a big blow out fight. (full index of Little Things reviews here)
Continue readingLittle Things Season 2 Episode 6: Lazy Sunday
This is a pleasant episode, but doesn’t quite give the Big Thoughts that the other episodes this season did. It’s a throwback to last season, and is almost consciously a throwback, especially to the very first episode. Kind of taking a breath before we hit the finale. (full index of Little Things reviews here)
Continue readingLittle Things Season 2 Episode 5 Review: What is Cheating?
Another fabulous episode! Really, this season is so good. I wish more of you were watching it. It’s happy, it’s beautiful, it makes you think about relationship stuff and life stuff and interesting things. Emily and I are loving it, the rest of you should try! (Little Things index here)
Continue readingMystery Movies to Watch With Your Spouse
Based on my highly sophisticated analysis, I am pretty sure the vast majority of my readers are female. So of the lists I have put out of suggestions to watch, the first (rom-coms) is to watch alone, the second (kid’s movies) to watch with your family. And now, movies to watch with your spouse! Or roommate or whatever, a fellow adult is the point.
Continue readingLittle Things Season 2 Episode 1 Review: Friendship, Moving Away, Growing Apart, Universal Themes Told Specifically
Season 2! “Long” episodes! This one was about half an hour, but the others seem to be mostly 22 minutes. Still awfully long compared to the 15 minutes last season. (full index of Little Things reviews here)
Continue readingLittle Things Episode 5: The Slow Build Pays Off, Turns Out Mithila Was the Main Character All Along
Such a brilliant final episode! Pulls into focus everything from the last 4 episodes, and makes you go “ooooooo! I see what you did there!” And also, retroactively, turns Mithila into the lead character. Which is especially interesting since Dhruv Sehgal wrote the show, and plays the other character. But turns out, his character isn’t that great and Mithila is the important one! Oh, and also we get a flashback to how they met. (index of all Little Things reviews here)
Continue readingLittle Things Episode 3: 3am Sandwiches and Condoms
This is a happy episode. About a happy safe time, 3am all alone together, with your own jokes and laughter and being together. (index of all Little Things reviews here)
Continue readingLittle Things Episode 2: “Dude” “Yaar” and “Daddy”
Episode 2! Another pleasant 15 minutes of life with a young couple figuring things out together. (index of all Little Things reviews here)
Continue readingWhy You Should Watch Little Things on Netflix With Me!
I started a new streaming series series of reviews, but I forgot to say I was doing it, and now I’m not sure you know. I am! It’s a new series! I’ll be doing little mini-reviews of every episode, one a day! And it’s super short, easy, fun, and light. Watch it with me and discuss! (index of all Little Things reviews here)
Continue readingLittle Things Review Episode 1: the Warm Coziness of Live In Relationship
I’ve been thinking I need to do more streaming series reviews, so I sat down all ready to finally watch Family Man on Prime, deep and complex and clever and critically acclaimed, deserving of lengthy in depth reviews and discussion. And I just can’t do it. So instead, I went the total opposite direction and started Little Things on Netflix. Cozy, happy, uncomplicated, 15 minute episodes. Awwww. It’s like having a little piece of chocolate instead of a full meal. (index of all Little Things reviews here)
Continue readingBest Streaming Hindi Movies to Watch With Kids
Another To-Do list! A tricky one, because of course Kids are also People and therefore have very different tastes. But generally speaking, here are the movies I would suggest you start with. And then move on once you have identified the real winners for your particular kids.
Continue readingBest Light Hindi Romances Streaming on Netflix and Prime, a To-Do List for You!
I am aware my massive lists (Netflix list here and Prime list here) are probably too massive. They are meant to be less of a to-do list, and more of a browsing list. Start with those films, then browse through and check the descriptions and see what you are in the mood for. THIS is your to-do list! The really really wonderful little films that are absolute must watches.
