Continue readingThis is a post from a long long time back, but it’s a good post! Worth posting again, and so long as we are stuck in a dead news cycle, I thought I might as well squeeze it in.
This is a post that has been burbling around in my brain for a while, and I thought I might as well just post it. Plus, it’s been a while since I put up one of those posts that gets everyone talking and angry with me/aggressively agreeing with me.
Accessbollywood.net does the real work of keeping this list updated, if you want a day by day update, subscribe to them. My update is only like once a month or so when I feel like it. But it does give some tips on what to watch and what not to watch, so that’s helpful! I hope.
I love Imtiaz Ali romances, because he does something really interesting with changing what we think of as “romance”. I sometimes hate Imtiaz Ali romances because it feels like he gets caught up in what he finds interesting and loses track of the basic definition of romance. You know, that it usually involves two people, not just one.
I hate that myth. From two sides. First, people always think it means that characters don’t kiss. Characters totally kiss! And have sex and do all the normal things. It’s the actors who don’t. So we see the characters leaning in, but then rain obscures our view or whatever. The audience knows what happened, even without seeing it. Just like a “sex scene” in a movie doesn’t mean we explicitly see the actors having sex. We just see a bunch of sheets and know what happened. Oh, and also, actors totally kiss too. Anyway, this made up holiday gives me an excuse to post lots and lots of kissing videos, woo!
I usually like to have some kind of over-arching theme for these. But, nope! The theme is “I had a really good run of fanvids linking to other good fanvids on youtube”. And I want to share them with you before I lose track of all the links.
