This post is inspired by reality TV! Specifically Ananya Panday and Paris Hilton in context of their (successful powerful) families, and their social status as very attractive young famous women. But does that mean they accomplished nothing? Or we should treat them like they accomplished nothing? How do we make fair judgements?

Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me as I Recover from a Rahman Concert?
Happy Monday! The Rahman concert on Saturday was so so good, and also so so tiring so I am still recovering. Shouting along to “Chaiyya Chaiyya” with a thousand other people really takes it out of you, you know?
Continue readingRoohi Review (SPOILERS): The Superheroine Origin Story I Always Wanted and Never Knew It!!!!
Yaaaaaay, a SPOILERS review!!!! If you just don’t have the energy to watch this movie but are curious about it anyway. Or if you can’t do horror but want to know what it is like. Or if you have seen it and are DESPERATE to discuss. But if you like horror comedies with a feminist message, you can also save this as a special treat and NOT read this review.
Continue readingRoohi Review (No Spoilers): Not the Best Feminist Horror Comedy, But Not the Worst!
Isn’t it lovely that Feminist Horror Comedy is now an actual genre? Stree is of course the best of them, but Roohi is a not terrible addition.
Continue readingSaturday Small Talk: Chat Away While I Have a Full Happy Day!!!!
Happy Saturday! I have the watchalong, and then I have to go pick up new puzzles (oooo!) and then I either have to meet up with my new co-worker so she can meet Albie Dog in person (I don’t count), or come home and finish my old puzzle so I can start the new ones.
Continue readingNews Round-Up/Discussion Post: K-Pop and Korea Arrives, Janvhi is Innocent, SRK Sells Movies, Kajol-Ajay Move House, Nyssa is Trolled, Alia and Osho, Kangana Directs, Varun is Stalked, Nawazuddin Pulls Muscle
So many little little stories today! I don’t want to try to tie them together and they aren’t really worth deep discussion on their own, so instead I will throw it all out there and let you discuss.
Continue readingBreak-Out Actress of 2018
I’ve decided I get to make up my own rules for this category. It’s not an actress whose first movie was this year (although there are some of those), it could also be an actress who had been around for a while but finally got noticed this year. And as always, I will make my nominations just to get the ball rolling, but you can write in your own votes too.
Continue readingNews Round-Up: Prerna Arora is in Jail, Manikarnika is still in Post-Production, Janhvi Kapoor is in a Helicopter?
Happy news round-up day! I mostly just want to talk about Prenaa Arora, because I love talking about her. And I want you all’s (y’all’s? y’alls?) opinion on it. But there’s also another fun “Manikarnika is a disaster from which none of us can escape” quote from set, and a “oh Karan, don’t even pretend this isn’t nepotism” story about Janhvi.
Katching Up With Koffee: Janhvi and Arjun, Get Ready to Want to Give Them Both a Big Hug!
Oh my, that was a tearjerker! And not in a forced obvious way, but just because it’s so sad, and so happy at the same time. And I am so glad Karan eased them through it and now the first interview is done and they have it behind them.
Sridevi Final Post: Putting It All Together
This is partly because there are some friends in real life who are asking me to explain what happened, and partly because I feel the need to sort of write it out like a story for myself. And partly because this will be the last Sridevi news type post (probably. Unless something big changes), I don’t want to keep chewing away for ever, I want to sum it up one last time and move on to remembering her life, not her death. (previous as it happened posts here and here and here and here and here and here and here)
