In the crazy world of 2021, isn’t it nice to have a safe familiar relaxing Bad Salman Movie? Isn’t that alone enough to celebrate? If it was actually good, I would be yet another upsetting change in the regular scheme of life.Continue reading

Hey, it’s Prabhudeva’s birthday! Now I really feel bad for not doing Street Dancer 3D for the movie today. Life is so COMPLICATED! I’ll give him this post instead.Continue reading

Boy December 21 was a good day! Especially if you like song numbers. Govinda, and Tamannah, and Vaibhavi Merchant all born!Continue reading
I saw it! 1:45pm show, me and 3 other people in the theater, and I kept falling asleep. No slight on the movie, just because I was in a warm dark quiet empty theater, and it’s been a long week.Continue reading
Blah blah, history, classism, colonialisms inevitable poisoning of the existing social structure. Forget all that, let’s talk about what’s REALLY important: is Prithviraj hot in this or WHAT?Continue reading
Happy Cinco de Mayo! A Mexican holiday, which inspires me to find every vaguely Hispanic song in the history of Indian film. The last two years I have done 5 videos, this year I am going to challenge myself to find TEN videos! Fun times. Oh, and if you tend to ignore these posts, this is one you should pay attention to. I found really good and different songs.Continue reading
Well, that was a disaster! And not in the way I was expecting, but rather the complete opposite. Salman and all the performers were great, it was everything else that was shockingly bad. And I can look at video from Atlanta and see that they got a totally different show than I did. WHAT HAPPENED IN CHICAGO????
I thought about doing something for Salman and his court case, but I wasn’t in the mood to write about any movie with him, and besides that seems like kind of a downer. So instead, Prabhu’s birthday celebration! And a movie which is very good at the very specific thing it does.
This is a film I just can’t help enjoying while I watch it. Knowing it is regressive and illogical and all those things. But it’s FUN!
I finally watched it! After feeling vaguely like I had watched it for years, and then realizing I had only seen the songs a bunch of times and read the plot summary. And it was just as delightful and lovable and wonderful as I had heard, and the songs were even better in context.
I went off into The World today, and therefore wasn’t able to sit at home and type and type and type, and you had to make do with one very very long Silly Sunday post instead of anything more than that. And I am trying very hard to feel like I accomplished useful things in The World, instead of feeling bad because I didn’t write my usual 10,000 words a day.
This is one of those situations when I get SO FRUSTRATED with how everyone is going “WOW! Did you see this?” While I am going “Yes, when I was 5 years old…..Do you, like, never watch anything before 1980?”, and I just CAN’T TAKE IT ANY MORE!!!! So I am going to force you all to learn the basics of American musical/dance history on film, so you can better appreciate how that interacts with modern Indian film, and the occasional very very rare modern American musical.
After doing my Prabhudeva Birthday post, I was suddenly in the mood to watch my favorite Prabhudeva movie. So I decided to indulge in a bit of a guilty pleasure. And not “guilty” like it’s usually used, like something you know is bad for you, but like something that is bad for the world and I know I really shouldn’t be encouraging, but it just makes me feel so good!
Woo-hoo! Prabhudeva’s birthday! 44 reasons to love him, and an excuse to post A LOT of Prabhudeva songs! And maybe a few facts scattered in. But not many. (I know you may not have time to watch all the videos I put in this posts, but some of these are truly not to be missed, so the ones in bold you MUST WATCH!!!)
It’s Kajol’s birthday! YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!! I LOVE her! Love love love! So I am going to do a full 42 reasons I love her, one for every year she’s been alive. Oh boy!
