I continue my crawl through the judgement/banishment scene! I truly did not realize how deep this section went while I was watching it, it’s only while writing this report that I realized how many moving parts there were. Essentially Part 13 was the personal layer, Part 14 was the massive internal issues going on with Prabhas and what this said about him (and his son). And now Part 15 is where I can get into the general question of what this scene says about Mahishmati, and a little bit into the banishment period.

Wednesday Watching Post: What Have You Been Reading and Watching and Thinking The Week I Start Moving?
Happy Wednesday! Halfway through the week, 4 more days until my sister is back from India and my sleep schedule gets normal again. Coffee is almost the same as sleep, right? Anyway, it does mean that I’ve been getting a lot of blogging down, so that’s something. Many pre-scheduled posts for the next few weeks have been finished.
Happy Birthday Madhuri! 50 Years old and better than ever
Yay, it’s Madhuri’s birthday! Officially, in America, not just in India like when I put up my last post. I already posted the first 25 reasons I love her, now here are 24 more. (this is an updated and reposted post from last year)
Support Me on Patreon!!! And Get Cool Prizes!
This is another post for those people who really care about the blog, not the ones who just come here off and on. If you just come here off and on, ignore this and go about your day. If you are interested in how I am doing and what I am doing and all that, you can read on.
Happy Teachers Day! Waheedaji to Tiger Shroff
Happy Teachers Day! So many sexy teacher songs in Indian film! Every film director in the world must have had a massive crush on a teacher at some point. Which means, even though I did this post last year, I can easily update it with some new songs and scenes for this year. (this is an updated and reposted post)
Monday Malayalam: Munnariyippu, the Brazenness of Youth Against the Intransigence of Age
I avoided this movie because it looked scary, and I don’t like scary movies! But it really wasn’t bad, because it was less about the “scary” parts, and more about the character parts. The specifics of the danger weren’t the point, it was the way our heroine rushed headline into the danger that was the point. Because young women are very very foolish!
Monday Morning Questions Post, Sarkar 3 Week Edition
Happy Sarkar 3 week! I wouldn’t be that excited, except that I like Amit Sadh so much and I am very eager to have this help his career. So, everybody, remember that Sarkar 3 is coming out and look for good reviews that mention Amit Sadh!
Su Su sudhi Vathmeekam: Learning to Accept Your Flaws, Not Hate Them
What an interesting movie! It’s about stuttering, but not really. It’s about growing up, but not really that either. And it’s also a little bit about Mukesh being a really nice guy. It’s all of these things combined, it’s just sort of about life.
Happy May Day! Here Are Some Ways You Can Support Workers
Happy May Day! You know how India has all these holidays that are very regional specific and how neat that is? Well, May Day is an international holiday now, but it started right in my hometown, so I thought I should celebrate it. And I don’t have the day off work, so I can’t join the many many many protests. But I can do a theme post!
Do You Want Me To Keep Blogging? And Blog More? Here’s How You Can Help!
Hi! This is just for faithful readers who feel like they want my blog to do well. If you just click over here every once in a while and don’t really care about the blog in general, that’s okay, go about your day and don’t worry about this post.
FanVid Post! Because I Found a Bunch of Good Ones!
I usually like to have some kind of over-arching theme for these. But, nope! The theme is “I had a really good run of fanvids linking to other good fanvids on youtube”. And I want to share them with you before I lose track of all the links.
Bahubali Podcast is up! Also, Beware of Spoilers!
Not the kind of “this is exactly what happened” spoilers, just slight comments about things. But if you have already seen the movie, maybe you will appreciate that! Oh, and if you want “this is what happens” spoilers, you can check out this review.
Baahubali 2 Day Before Release! News From The Front!
Happy 24 hours to Baahubali 2! 24 hours worldwide, by the way. Every showtime I can see around me starts at 2:30pm on the nose on Thursday, which is midnight Friday in India. This is what I love about film bringing us together, all over the world, at the exact same second, the lights will go down and people will watch Baahubali together.
Silly Sunday Voting Post: What Great Book/Film Should I Do Next?
Hello All! I got such a nice response to this weeks Sunday post on Jane Eyre, partly because it was a topic that a lot of you felt deeply about and had a lot of background for. So, I am going to take advantage of this momentum and let you vote! This is probably a one time thing, I won’t be doing it every week, so make sure you take advantage!
Noor Podcast! It’s As Short As the Movie
Proportionally short. If regular movies are 3 hours, and this is a little over an hour and a quarter, and regular podcasts of mine are 25 minutes, this is closer to 13. As always, better to read the SPOILER review first, so you can follow what we are saying about the plot and stuff.
Help Me Make a Shopping List for Chennai, The Final List!!!!
Chennai Update Part 3! THE FINAL LIST!!! My sister is flying out tomorrow, so this is the last update. Unless you suggest something really good, and then I will send her an email. But ideally she can just print off this blog post and carry it with her at all times. Like her passport, but more important. Anyway, I am putting it up on the blog so that she can refer back to it at any point from anywhere with internet access, and also so you all can see it if you are curious.
Spring Thank You Card! Another Reminder, For Those of You I Haven’t Heard From Yet!
Third post on this! But I am just going to keep going until I feel like I have heard from all of you. I’ve been feeling very grateful for the warm weather and sunshine and general good things in life lately. And one of the things I am most grateful for is that people actually read what I say on this blog! It’s so AMAZING!!! And I want to thank you all for that. So, even you just started reading, or have never commented, or comment constantly, doesn’t matter, I still want to send you a Spring greeting card to say “THANK YOU!!!!”
Are You a Student/Academic? Do You Want to Meet Me in Person and Build Your Resume At the Same Time?
I am the India Area Chair for the Midwest Popular Culture Association! The annual conference is in October, the submission deadline for that conference is this month (gah!). But the submission is easy, just a paragraph about what your talk will be on, and then you have 6 months to actually write the thing. If you want to add a conference to your CV, and think it would be cool to talk with other people about Indian film, read on for more details.
Arijit Singh Concert Review! A 100% Musician
Wow! Just, like, WOW! This is not my first Indian concert, it’s not even my first all musical concert, but I had never expected to see this combination of audience fan madness offstage and technical brilliance onstage.
Spring Cleaning Advice Needed for Website (Also, Notice the New Site Design I Put Up Last Week!)
Hello my loyal and faithful readers! Have you noticed that I did a bit of spring cleaning of the website last week? Slightly different site design, which gives us back our header menu. More importantly, I re-arranged the categories of things. It’s all in tidy weekly order now, starting with Monday Questions straight through Silly Sunday. But, I need to do a lot more! And I need your advice on that.
Thank You for Reading! Don’t Forget to Pick up Your Present!
It’s Spring now, and I am enjoying the warm days, and also enjoying life in general. And a big reason for that is because of how much fun I have writing this blog, and feeling like I am being heard and read! And so I want to say a little “thank you” to all my readers, whether you are new or old, comment regularly or not at all, only read the posts you like and skip the rest, anything! It all counts and it all deserves a “Thank You!” (I posted about this a few days ago, and I am just going to keep putting up reminder posts until I feel sure you all saw it! So far I have only gotten responses from 5 of you.)
Fanvid Post: New SRK Videos! And Others
Needed a nice way to wind down Monday night, so I browsed around for some nice new fanvids to share. And now I am posting them for you, so you have a nice way to get through Tuesday!
Chennai Shopping List! Now With Additions!
Chennai Update! I have put in some of your suggestions, plus added a few books. If something you suggested isn’t included, it’s not because I hate you, it’s because I explored and I can find a copy without needing to go all the way to Chennai for it. And I want to save luggage space for the really really hard stuff!
Maine Pyar Kiya Watchalong Starts in 10 Minutes, 7pm Chicago time!!!
Hope to see you there! Look for the hashtag #MPK.
Kaatru Veliyidai Podcast/Carcast!!! With Bonus General Ratnam Discussion
As always, best to listen to the podcast after having seen the movie, or else having read my SPOILERS review. We don’t exactly give a plot summary, and we jump around a bit. In this case, we also jump over to a lot of other Mani Ratnam films, since Dina hasn’t seen many, and I have seen slightly more, so I was giving her some general Ratnam background.
