I would have skipped posting this entire day, and then I thought “what about all my lovely blog friends? what if they worry?” So this is an “I’m alive! I’m fine!” post.

Continue readingChallenge! What One Rahman Song Would You Use to Prove His Genius?
This is an Actual Question! I showed 99 Songs at my Friends Movie Night last night and my new friend/guest did not believe based on 99 Songs that Rahman was a genius. So now I have to send her songs all day at work to prove that he IS a genius. Give me ideas!

Ready for your occasional Albie Dog Update? For those of you who like that sort of thing? And the rest of you can just ignore it.
Continue readingWednesday Watching Post: What Are You Reading and Watching and Thinking and Listening to on Imtiaz Ali’s birthday?
Happy Wednesday!!!! I had a very exciting morning. I woke up early and decided to try to drive into the city from Wisconsin before work instead of after, since the traffic would be so much easier. So, I rushed around closing windows and locking doors and putting away kayaks and walking dogs and then leaped in the car. Drove the highway route and went super super fast, and then WAS STILL LATE FOR WORK! Because my parents’ neighborhood has NO PARKING!!!! But now, finally, I am in my bedroom/office at my parents all settled.
Continue readingSaturday Morning WatchAlong: Something Short! But Also Pride Oriented! Ideas?
Challenging schedule this week! I am trying to coordinate meeting roofers (oooo!) for the new apartment on Friday afternoon. And on Saturday I have a 2 hour hardcore massage scheduled to get my shoulders fixed once and for all. Anyway, if we do a movie 7:30am to 10am, I am totally fine. So we need a movie that is 2 and a half hours or less, AND Pride themed (because it is June). A CHALLENGE!!!
Continue readingAtlantic Magazine Says I Am a Genius and Right About Everything
Isn’t that nice? I love it when that happens. The things I have been talking about all along now get highlighted in an official publication. Just you wait, someday some fancy magazine is going to say “Everyone agrees, soft cooked eggs should be boiled for 2 minutes and not 3” and I can wave it in my mother’s face. HA!

Continue readingIn The Heights Review (No Spoilers): Finally an American Musical Directed By Someone Who Knows How to Direct Musicals!!!
Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tony Awards, brilliant songs, forget all of that! Most important thing about this movie is the director, John M. Chu. Who previously directed Step Up 2: The Streets, AND Step Up 3D!!!! Finally, someone hired because they know how to make dance movies, not because they are a big name director.
Continue readingMonday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me on Kirron Kher’s Birthday?
Happy Monday!!! I am still up at the lake, but now I am working. Still better to be here, I get to work while looking out on a nice sparkling blue lake and am planning to go kayaking over lunch break.
Continue readingThinky Post: Popular Media, The Only Constant is Change
Now that movie theaters are opening up again, there’s a discussion of what the future of movies might look like, and if there is a future. This is scary, but I am trying hard to relax and instead of being scared, embracing change. Because Popular Media is change, any sense of permanence is an illusion.
Continue readingDCIB Movie Club! CORRECTION!!! Bringing Up Baby!!!
Ooops! Thank you Kainat, I somehow got confused in my head and thought we had decided on His Girl Friday. Oh well, for those of you who also know His Girl Friday, go check out that fun post!
Continue readingQuestion: Is Anyone Interested in Doing a Ms Marvel ReadAlong With Me?
I just plowed through the first 10 volumes of collected Ms Marvel strips, covering 2014-2019, in like two days. They are sooooooooooooo good, and there is so much to discuss. I’m trying to figure out how to best discuss them here, and I think some form a readalong would be the way to do it, but only if there is interest.
Continue readingDCIB Movie Club! His Girl Friday!
Happy Sunday! I am hoping that more people will have watched this one than the one last week. Not necessarily just now, but at some point in their lives.

Continue readingMonday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me the Week of MY BIRTHDAY?
Happy Monday! And happy birthday week to me! I don’t think I’ve mentioned my birthday on the blog before? But now that I am a mature almost 36 year old, I think I can handle being the center of attention (blurgh). Especially since this year in Real Life I am going to be completely isolated, yaaaaaaaaaay! My dream birthday! I rented a luxury hotel room at super cheap rates, I am going to enjoy a king size bed and cable TV and a clean bathroom all to myself. Also, I booked a luxury pedicure and massage. Ahhhh.
