Grand finale of Historic Films week! The Historic films I have written which are so much better than the historic films people in Hindi cinema are actually making. I didn’t get around to watching Panipat, but really, just read this instead of looking for a review of that.Continue reading
This is not a great movie. Or even a good movie. But it’s got silly hats, and alligator wrestling, and do we really need more than that from a history film?Continue reading
This is inspired by the fanvid post I put up earlier today with a gabillion Hrithik videos, which just reminded me how many different varying shades of Hrithik there are. It’s a bit like learning to appreciate fine wine, at first it all tastes the same, but as your palate deepens, they become very different from each other.
Nothing terribly surprising in box office, so I am mashing it in with a couple of other stories as well.
Slowish news day. Just a few box office reports and some Olympics reactions. And also, BABY! Is Salman’s nephew the cutest baby in the film industry today? Possibly!
In my earlier non-Spoiler review, I mentioned that Mohenjo felt like 3 good movies smashed together into one, a romance, a political drama, and a big action movie. Now, after I’ve had time to let the movie percolate in the back of my mind, I think the romance is the best of the 3. Not by much, they are all strong, but the romance was just the slightest bit better filled in and more emotionally resonant.
I liked Mohenjo Daro better than Rustom! Surprise! I went in all set to be bored, since Rustom got the better reviews and the better box office, and then I ended up really like Mohenjo Daro! Much better than Rustom, which felt kind of old hat once you removed the period clothes and titillating connection to “real life”.
This is FASCINATING! The screen numbers are all upside down! Mohenjo Daro had way way more screens, and yet Rustom still made more money! Very impressive, Akshay Kumar!
My favorite kind of news headlines today, the ones that combine big star names with juicy industry news!
Already put up a post about the trailers that are out today, but there were a couple of interesting news stories today, and one really cute picture, so I just have to talk about them too!
Finally! Finally a good news day! So good, that box office is going to get its own little post! Because there is too much else to talk about.
Well, “trailers”. There is a legitimate new trailer for Mohenjo Daro, but there is just a first look image for Baar Baar Dekho, which I actually forgot was even happening. This is what happens when you don’t cast any big names in your film! The gossip press doesn’t feel the need to keep us updated on the filming and it ends up being ready for release without anyone realizing it.
Mohenjo Daro trailer! I know what I am doing on Independence Day! Although, I think some of the history might be a little slippery.
I already did a news post today, but thanks to the time difference, my morning (in America) post only caught the stuff from yesterday (in India), so now I need another one of the things that just happened!
2 new videos! One which revealed a lot, and one which revealed NOTHING. But both got me excited.
