It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, so I am going to hit the highlights and mention a fewer smaller stories I found interesting as well, and see if I can cover it all.

Happy Indian Independence Day!!!
Happy Indian Independence Day! I’m going to try a theme this year, and limit it to just things directly related to the Independence movement. Next year I’ll do something else like, I don’t know, patriotic songs that involve color coordinated clothing or something. The point is, there are so many patriotic options in Indian film! Way more than in American. At least, American post-WWII. And if I missed your favorite Independence movement set scene or song, just mention it in the comments!
Sorry Shahrukh (on behalf of America) (and also Sorry Salman, on behalf of The Internet)
Oh dear, not a good day for Salman or Shahrukh, and I can’t help but feel it is partly my fault! As an American, and part of “The Internet.”
News Round-Up: Salman Makes Big Profit on Sultan, Announces New Heroine for Next Film. And Ritiesh is a Gentlemen. Oh, and Shahrukh’s next role might be AWESOME!!!
I really wanted to do 3 news stories about Salman, so I could have a nice structure for my headline, but no luck! And also no luck in only doing one on him and 2 on someone else, because his 2 stories today are too big to ignore. And then I had to shove a 4th story in there because the Shahrukh rumor is too good to ignore. It’s all out of balance!!! Oh well.
Pokiri: SO MUCH BETTER than Wanted!!!!
I saw Wanted, oh, maybe 4 years ago? Long after it came out, I think after I saw Dabangg, and got curious about the beginning of Salman’s new action era. Anyway, it was fine, I hated Salman’s hair, but otherwise it didn’t feel like anything special to me. Unlike Pokiri, which I watched after reading moviemavengal’s review, and which was WONDERFUL!!! I don’t know how they managed to mess it up, but all most of the stuff that felt interesting and unusual to me in this one just went away in the remake.
News Round-Up: Salman is Still a Virgin, 2 Release Conflicts Coming Up, and Yash Raj Takes Care of Its Own
Slow news day, but Salman did attend the trailer release yesterday, so we got some cool quotes from that. And there were a couple of release dates announced. And Yash Raj is going to battle for Parineeti and Bhumi.
News Round-Up: Sanjay on Salman, Emraan’s Son on Camera, and a Barjatya is Dead
Sanjay is the big news. I already put up my birthday post for him, now the news is filtering out from his birthday press conference. But, there’s also new news about Emraan’s tiny little son, and some sad news from Rajshri films.
Important Late Breaking News: Salman Court Case and Super Sexy Photo
Honestly, the photo is the reason I am doing the post. The Salman news is technically more newsworthy, but the photo is swoony.
News Update: Trailer! TRAILER TRAILER TRAILER!!!! And Other Stuff
Trailer!!! Dharma Trailer! Even if I don’t end up enjoying the movie, Dharma is the BEST at the promotions! Oh, and some other less exciting stuff is also happening.
News Round-Up: Emraan is Nice, Shahrukh is in Trouble, Salman is Out of Trouble, and Hrithik has a New Trailer
Finally! Finally a good news day! So good, that box office is going to get its own little post! Because there is too much else to talk about.
Happy Birthday Himesh Reshammiya! My 4th Favorite Music Director!
That sounds bad, just calling him my 4th favorite! But he should be flattered, he comes after Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, AR Rahman, and Vishal-Shekhar. And right before Pritam. And today he is 43, so I get to put up all my favorite songs and reasons I love him! 25 in all, for the age he was when he wrote his first hit song.
News Randomness: Salman Gives an Interview, Priyanka’s Brother is in Trouble, and Sultan Holds Steady in 2nd Week
I’m a little late to the party on the biggest item here, Salman’s celebratory press conference in which he offered all kinds of juicy quotes and Anushka addressed the ridiculous “bad feminist!” arguments against her character. Rediff has a nice summary of the best bits. But, better late than never!
Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai: I Think This is the Best I Have Ever Seen Twinkle Look
Twinkle was so great in this! Well, really Twinkle and Salman. The two of them together just lit up the screen in a really unusual way. Which, I think, was on purpose to support the story.
Love: This Movie Was WAY WAY Better Than I Expected!
I had never heard of this film until it was recommended in a comment, and I don’t know why I never heard of it, because it is brilliant! Clever and sweet like Chashme Buddoor, intense and emotional like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, and with an interesting message about Indian society like Ishaqzaade.
Saajan: I Finally Watch It! And It Is Just as Good as I Have Always Heard!
This is one of those movies that I knew was really good, and I just haven’t gotten around to watching it. Well, haven’t gotten around to it, and it was kind of hard to find a copy of. But, thanks to the proliferation of international streaming services, I now longer had that excuse, so I finally watched it!
Sultan Part 7: All the Way to the End! Complete! Final! Conclusion!
Last bit! Not because I’m so close to the end, but because we are coming up on the weekend and I can’t face carrying this thing through to another week. So, if you want to know the end-end of Sultan, what happens to all the characters and how it happens, then read on!
(part 1 here, part 2 here, part 3 here, part 4 here, part 5 here, part 6 here, part 7 here)
Sultan Part 6: Getting Close to the End! Lots of Fight Scenes!
Sultan Part 5: Things Are About to Get Really Really Really Sad
Sultan Part 3 of ?: So Many Songs!
Bumping along to part 3 of my detailed summary. I like doing it this way, because that way I can remember all the little bits and pieces I thought of while I was watching the movie. Because I am thinking of the whole movie again scene by scene. If you just want a quick summary, you can check out my “SPOILER” review.

Sultan Part 2 of ?: Yay, Anushka’s here!
I’ve seen Sultan twice now, and looking at a possible 3rd time sometime this week, but for those of you who can’t see it, or can only see it once, or saw it and are trying to remember everything that happened, I am going to try my best to remember everything I saw and write it all down for you.

News Round-Up: Khalnayak is back, Hrithik and Salman are Friends, and Dil Might Get a Sequel!
There is slightly more news today than yesterday, but not much. The items that jumped out at me were the ones that called back to the 1990s.
Sultan Full Summary Part 1 of ? (SPOILERS!)
It’s time to start my traditional full summary shot by shot and scene by scene of the movie I just saw in the theater! Sometimes these can be incredibly long (like Fan) as I get distracted by backstory and metaphors and references and stuff. And sometimes they can be really short, because there just isn’t that much to talk about (like Rocky Handsome). In this case, I honestly don’t know how much I will have to say, so I’m just going to start and see how fast I go!

Eid Greetings From the 3 Khans
Everyone opted for more of a family party this year. Which I understand on like a personal level, I also would prefer to celebrate big holidays with just family. But I resent it on a film news level, because I want more pictures of people in fancy outfits arriving for big parties! At least to make up for it, all 3 Khans went out for a viewing and photo.
Sultan 2nd Review: SPOILERS!!!!
I already put up a spoiler-free review, and I’ll be putting up a full summary over the next few days, but in the meantime here are my spoiler-y thoughts.
(for a different perspective, check out moviemavengal’s review)
Sultan, 1st Review! No SPOILERS!
I saw Sultan! Yaaaaaaay! It lived up to my expectations. It did not exceed my expectations, but it did live up to them.
