Snow snow snow! More snow! Because 4 feet just wasn’t enough. Ugh!!!! Anyway, I’m starting a new puzzle, so my weekend is set.
Continue readingThinky Post: The Internet, Patterns, Conspiracy Theories, and Reality
Oh boy, a thinky post! Inspired by the really interesting new Cecil Hotel documentary on Netflix. It is less of a true crime story, and more of a “who are the people who are obsessed with true crime and why” story.

Continue readingTGIF: 90s Edition!!!! Which of These Images is MOST 90s?
The 90s! Gave us so many great smile inducing photos!!!! With silly silly people in silly silly clothes. Which is good, because I am STILL GRUMPY. Hopefully HAHK this afternoon will cheer me up. If not, I am going to have to wait until NEXT MONTH which is the soonest that the sun is supposed to be out again in Chicago.
Continue readingValentine’s 90s Week of Romance: I Am Super Grumpy and I Am Going to Complain About Jerry Maguire (and a little Ranbir), and A Lot a Bit MEN!!!!!
The world is a bleak and horrible place filled with no sun and snowdrifts, it’s super unfair that I have to do work-work in the living room instead of continuing to sleep in my nice warm bed, and I don’t want to walk the dog. And you know whose fault that is? MEN! White Old Rich Men!!!! In some way I am not clear on, but I know I am mad about it. I’m gonna talk about how Tom Cruise/Cameron Crowe are terrible people who think they are good. Oh, and don’t bother actually watching Jerry Maguire before reading this post, I will tell you everything you need to know.
Continue readingFriday WatchAlong: Hum Aapke Hain Koun! 3pm Chicago Time Tomorrow! JOIN US!!!!
Oh yeah, we’re doing HAHK!!!! For those of you who haven’t seen it before, it is unbelievably long, and nothing happens until 40 minutes before the end. So arrive late, leave early, fall asleep in the middle, take go outside with your kids and play and then come back, it’s all good. HAHK will just keep churning along.
Continue readingValentine’s 90s Romance Week! What is Your Favorite 90s Romance, Indian and Non-Indian?
I am soooooooooooooo grumpy today. Cheer me up by reminding me about happy things of the past!!! Favorite rom-coms of the decade when I was a little kid.

Another check-in post! I like seeing how you are doing and telling y’all how I am doing. Especially today when I am grumpy about missing my annual Valentine’s party and trying to cheer myself up.
Continue readingWednesday Watching Post: What Are You Reading and Watching and Thinking and Listening To on VALENTINE’S WEEK???
Happy Wednesday!!! And happy 4 days to Valentine’s!!!! I may try to talk my parents into a heart shaped pizza to celebrate. And I will try very hard not to be sad that I am missing my annual SRK Valentine’s party for the first time in 10 years!!!!
Continue readingWho Was Rajiv Kapoor?
This is a sad one. Not a sad one today, just a sad one in general. A life story that makes me a little mournful when I think about it.
Continue reading90s Week Friday WatchAlong!!! Dil To Pagal Hai or Hum Aapke Hain Koun? Fight For Your Fav!!!!
I already decided we are doing Friday afternoon instead of Saturday morning, because the big concern with Friday afternoon is folks having to come late. And these movies are so loooooooooong, doesn’t matter! Also, we’ve done Saturday a lot lately and it feels unfair to Friday, you know? Poor day of the week getting jealous.
Continue readingHappy Fat Tuesday!!!! What is Your Totally Indulgent Book/Movie/TV Show/Food?
Happy Fat Tuesday! I’ve had a glorious 4 years of working one block from the best Pazkis in Chicagoland. And now I am working from home like an idiot and I will have to fake Fat Tuesday with donuts. IT’S NOT THE SAME!!!
Continue reading90s Week of Romance: Best Jodi! Aamir-Juhi, Kajol-Ajay, Kajol-SRK, SRK-Juhi, Madhuri-Salman, Madhuri-Anil, Karisma-Salman, Saif-Akshay, Govinda….?
I put in that Govinda one just to make Popka happy. But now she has to tell us who would be the Govinda jodi person, because I don’t know.
Continue reading90s Week of Romance: Best Hindi Love Song of the 90s, “Tujhe Dekho” or “Pehla Pehla Pyar” or “Khandala”????
A challenge!!!!! Which will be well-nigh impossible! At least, it would be for me. All 3 Khans had amazingly iconic love songs in this era, with adorable spectacular co-stars and forever hit tunes and so on and so forth. But which is BEST? And I guess also which is worst, and which is middlest.
Continue readingMonday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me VALENTINE’S WEEK???
Happy Monday!!! Happy Valentine’s Week!!!! So exciting! I mailed most of my cards weeks ago, plus my special Valentine’s gift for my nephew, and yesterday I hand delivered a combo Valentine’s/new cat present, the last card that I will hand deliver day of to make it special. I have heard some people treat Valentine’s as a holiday between romantic couples, but I think that is crazy. I treat it as a “time to send nice presents/cards to everyone and anyone who is important in my life”.
Continue readingValentines 90s Week of Romance!!! Sleepless in Seattle and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the Same Story Told Different
Woot! It’s 90s week!!!! Gotta start with the two most significant romances of the 90s, Sleepless in Seattle and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Yes, HAHK and DDLJ were more important films in general, and When Harry Met Sally is more influential, but these two movies were the biggest romantic hits of the decade, the ones that you pull out when you just want to swoon over love and not worry about anything else.
Continue readingAnother True Crime Story For Remake! An Evil STEM Professor Villain and a Prostitute Heroine!!!
This is such a ridiculous true life story that I can’t resist making it into a movie. Especially because it means I can give it a happy ending. And also talk about how male science professors are the SCUM OF THE EARTH.
Continue readingI Figured Out Why People Have Babies Instead of Puppies!!!
I solved it!!! It took me a while to figure it out, but it burst upon me suddenly this morning.
Continue readingDCIB Book Club: Shakuntala!!! India’s Great Romantic Drama! What Did You Think?
Remember, in 2 weeks from today, Ramesh Menon’s Siva Purana! It’s X-rated! It’s fun! It’s sex ed and religion all in one book!
Continue readingDiscussion Post: What Is Your Favorite Children’s Series (If You Tell Me, I May Review it!)?
I don’t know about you, but I pretty much only read children’s books. And romances and mysteries. I minored in English in college and read a fair number of “real” books, and then I graduated and could read whatever I wanted and decided that about age 14 is the reading level that makes me happy. Reading should be fun! I don’t want to read An Unsuitable Boy, I want to read Betsy-Tacy! Anyway, tell me your favorite children’s books that you read as a kid/read to your kids/read now as an adult because reading has no rules.
Continue readingSaturday WatchAlong! CHENNAI EXPRESS! JOY!!!! Starting at 7:30am Chicago Time
Happy Happy Saturday! And SRK day!!! What a wonderful start to the day/weekend, spending the morning with SRK.
Continue readingSaturday Small Talk: Chat Away While I Try to Stay Warm/Cool
Happy Saturday! This comes to you from “America’s Vast Frozen Middle”. That was a headline in the BBC or something years ago and it always makes me giggle because YES! My vast American middle is frozen!!!! That’s why I put Albie Dog on my lap so much.
Continue readingStaycation Ideas! Give Me Books and Shows to Binge!!!!
For the past 4 years, I have fought post-Holiday blues by scheduling a vacation for February/March. This year, no vacation, but I decided to schedule myself a “staycation” instead, just to shake up my schedule. And now y’all get to help me make plans!
Continue readingIt’s Abhishek’s Birthday! Which of These 3 Talents He Posesses is Your Favorite?
Abhi Baby!!!! Surprisingly undervalued, but also seems to kind of like it like that. He struggled in his father’s shadow as a young man, but has matured into understanding the value of being overlooked and allowed to do his own thing. And he is very very good at doing his own thing.
Continue readingJane Eyre, the Huckleberry Finn of Romance Novels
Angie and I can just sit in a corner and chat about this one to each other. The rest of you can think about how perfect Shahrukh would be to play Mr. Rochester and whether or not Alia should play opposite him.
