Happy Monday!!! And Happy Rani Day!!! I am sitting in my lovely sunroom thinking that it is really too sunny. It might be time to consider blinds.Continue reading
Woo-hoo! Friday afternoon movies! So I can enjoy the fact that I am off work early on Fridays. Oh, and I picked Aiyyaa because Genevieve said she started it and stopped because she wanted to watch it with us. Also, it’s available basically EVERYWHERE, so everyone can join in.Continue reading
Another productive and useful post! Or alternatively, a fun post I will enjoy writing even if no one enjoys reading it. I tried to imagine how some of our favorite couples would have handled their “first night”.Continue reading
I’ve been thinking about it as we go through Rani Week, and I think this is my favorite performance from her. It’s not showy, and it’s not her usual Type A heroine, it’s something different but charming. And I don’t think any other actress could make it work.Continue reading
For a respectable actress, Rani has done a fair number of songs that show off her sexiness as a solo person. Not item songs exactly, more songs where we are watching her from the perspective of the hero and desiring her.Continue reading
A repost, but a fun one! Anyway, we all love rom-coms, right?Continue reading
I’m including this on Wednesday Malayalam, because PRITHVIRAJ! In one of his greatest roles. Or at least most shirtless roles.Continue reading
This is NOT “Ten Feminist Films”, because that’s a wee bit subjective. And it’s also NOT “Top Ten”, because that’s a way bit subjective. Instead, these are just ten films that bring up interesting discussions around gender. If you ever want to have a real downer of a movie night, you can show these and then make people discuss. Feel free to add on your own options both for films and discussion questions in the comments!!
I don’t think anyone has formed a definitive answer to this before? Or, perhaps, even been brave enough to pose the question!!! But I feel like if anyone is qualified to answer such a vital open research topic, it is the DCIB community.
This was a request from my new anonymous commentator, she was looking for an “underappreciated” list, but when I started to think about it, “underappreciated” is kind of hard to define. So I went with “not your standard massive hits that everyone knows”. Here are some little mini-reviews and suggestions, feel free to add your own in the comments.
Happy Fat Tuesday! I just waited in line for 20 minutes to buy Pazckis and by the time I got to the front, I decided to just get a full dozen because I had earned them. This is supposed to be the day we gorge ourselves after all. And to help us all get into that mood, FOOD SONGS! And also other songs, but they are hiding under the respectable food ones.
Hello all! Time to chat about what we have been doing for the past few days. And the next few days too, since you are welcome to come back and keep commenting every time you see something new that you like. Until next Wednesday, when you can come comment on next Wednesday’s post!
Now, if you remember, I looooooooved Ohm Shanti Oshaana. Whole-hearted no reservations loved it. And the big main thing I loved is still there in Aiyyaa, that it is a love story from the female side instead of the male, the woman gets to fall in love at first sight and be the stalker and make all the big gestures and stuff. But, all the little things in Aiyyaa are just WEIRD! Weird weird weird! I can see why it wasn’t a hit.
