I finished the sad parts, yay! And then celebrated by taking 2 days off. And writing yet another fanfic (by the way, almost nobody reads the fanfics, but the few who do, really really enjoy them. And I really really enjoy writing them!) Anyway, now I am back. Time for the thrilling conclusion! Or at least, the first part of it. Phew! We are almost to the return to the present day and the cathartic battle scenes! But first, the last bit of sad. And a subtle call back to something way way way way way back at the beginning of the film (part 19 here, you can crawl back from there)
Happy second to last “sad part”. Thank goodness I got to take a break in the middle for our weekly TGIF post. Otherwise this would have been much too hard to get through. Welcome back! I decided I wanted to get all the sad parts over with as quickly as possible. So sad part part 1 was a few hours ago, now sad part part 2, and sad part part 3 will be going up in a bit. And then, thank goodness, we just have the big old battle to deal with! Which might wait until Monday, seems like you should all have enough to talk about with these three posts over the weekend.
That was the line, wasn’t it? To get Ramya to change would be like getting the sun to rise in the West? Well, it happens here! You all realize this is the Tuesday Telugu/Tamil post this week too, right? I still put up a Malayalam post, because I feel bad for my poor Malayalam readers who have so few places to go to read their reviews. We are now getting into “the scary bit”. The bit that I had to kind of look at the ceiling and ignore, or actually leave the theater, during. So forgive me if I move a little faster, and if I forget some parts. You can fill in, in the comments. (part 12 here, you can go backwards from there)
This is the section of the movie it is kind of hard for me to write about because it is TOO SAD. And also, too real. Which is a sign of what a good film this is, it’s set in a fantastical setting with swords and elephants and so on, but it manages to get right at human emotions I recognize. If this post gets decent views, I might try to do at least one of these posts a week, add it to the rotation on Wednesdays and/or Saturdays when I don’t have anything else. And if I ever finish DDLJ, I will move on to HAHK or Sholay or another one of the classics. But only if I get the views! So COMMENT!!! And which is also sooooooooo boring for those people who haven’t seen Bahubali 2. But who hasn’t seen DDLJ? No one! Welcome to my tedious and time consuming scene by scene coverage of Bahubali 2! I already put up my No Spoilers review, if you want something to read while you wait to buy tickets. And my SPOILERS review, if you want something quick to read to think about what you just saw. This is something else, the intensive graduate-level-film-class scene by scene breakdown and discussion which will last for a couple weeks and only get a few very dedicated readers. But I haven’t done one of these since Raees, and Bahubali seemed like an appropriate time to dust off the old analytical skills.
I won’t promise that this will be my last review. I already posted my no spoilers review. And it’s possible that over the next few weeks, as I re-watch it, I end up posting one of those scene by scene things that takes me forever to write. But right now, I want to get up a SPOILER post, if nothing else so we all have a safe place to talk about the movie without worrying about ruining it for other people.
I already put up my no spoilers review. The SPOILERS review doesn’t really have much to add to that, because there’s not much to the plot of the film. But I can complain in a little more detail about how the plot fails. And save you the trouble of watching it yourself, since you can just learn about it here.
