Mentalhood Episode 6: Women United

Well, this was a dull episode! It got to where it needed to be in the end, but it was kind of limp on the way there. Oh well, we had 3 really good ones in a row, it was time for a sort of soapy dramatic and then nothing happens plot. At least my review should be short! (full index of Mentalhood reviews here)

Hindi Film 101: Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan Part 1, Jaya Bhaduri India’s Sweetheart

I honestly thought I had already written this, and I am very excited to discover I have not. Jaya is a fascinating woman, and a bit of a mystery in many ways. Oh also, I will use literally ANY excuse to post adorable young Amitabh-Jaya photos. I think they are tied with Dips-Ranveer for “all time cutest dating couple”.

Mentalhood Episode 5: Things Heat Up, And We Think About Mothers as Nurses

ILLNESS ALERT! But this episode is barely related to the current real life situation, so just block that from your mind with force of will and you can enjoy it. And it’s another Really Good episode! I have to say, from episode 3 on, this show has been super impressing me. Also, Dino is cute again, some more. (index of all Mentalhood reviews here)

Little Things Episode 5: The Slow Build Pays Off, Turns Out Mithila Was the Main Character All Along

Such a brilliant final episode! Pulls into focus everything from the last 4 episodes, and makes you go “ooooooo! I see what you did there!” And also, retroactively, turns Mithila into the lead character. Which is especially interesting since Dhruv Sehgal wrote the show, and plays the other character. But turns out, his character isn’t that great and Mithila is the important one! Oh, and also we get a flashback to how they met. (index of all Little Things reviews here)

MentalHood Episode 4: Well, This Was an Interesting Little Meta-Statement on Babita’s Parenting of Karisma!

Ooooo, this episode was JUICY!!!! Both on and off screen. The characters had all kinds of back and forth and movement, but boy is it hard to watch and not think of Karisma working through her own issues of mothering and how she was mothered! (index of all Mentalhood reviews here)

What Movie Do We Want to Watch on Friday? Student of the Year 1, Student of the Year 2, A Gentleman, or Ohm Shanthi Oshaana?

I’m torn here! Because I think OSO might be the best option, it has that light rom-com flavor that made Khoobsurat and Aiyyaa such hits with us. But it is only available on googleplay (or Hotstar) and I hate to make people pay for stuff. So then we have the other three options.
