The 8 Abs of Hanukkah! But Who is the Brightest Light of Them All?????

Yes, it is time for me to do another Hanukkah post! Something with 8, oil, and a little bit of Jewishness….ABS! Including ARK! Yes, this is a perfectly respectful and appropriate post for the holiday. At least, I am pretty sure the DCIB Hanukkah celebrants won’t complain (just as the DCIB Easter celebrants never mind my annual “hot Jesus” post).

Random Hollywood Post: Shane Black, the Most Successful Christmas Movie Writer of All Time (Lethal Weapon to Iron Man 3)

This is something/someone I find really interesting to think about this time of year and I wanted to share him with you in case you weren’t aware of how much this one person has affected the way we see Christmas. I wasn’t myself until I read an article about Iron Man 3 in context of Shane Black’s history of Christmas films. Identifying Shane Black as a Christmas author is NOT my original idea at all, don’t give me credit for it!!!! But my interpretation of why he writes Christmas movies is my own.

Discussion Post: Who Here Grew Up With Honorary Aunties in Your Life? And Their Children, Your Honorary Cousins?

I so enjoyed (and continue to enjoy as more comments come in) our post about friendships and what lasted and what didn’t. I want to do kind of a partner post about another sort of childhood relationship that I have found has lasted into adulthood much more strongly, that “my Mom’s best friend” relationship. Or, in Indian English, your Aunties.

Send Me Your Dog Photos!!! So I Can Feature Them, Like Maria’s Teddi (cats too I suppose, I will be open minded)

Dog photos! Somehow blog-drift has brought us to a point where this is a blog primarily about Indian film, and also dogs. If you email me a photo of your dog (dontcallitbollywood at gmail dot com), I will put it in a post! And then we can all be happy. You can also send me cat photos and then many of us will be happy.

Discussion Post: Who Here is Still Friends With People From Elementary School? High School? College?

Honestly, I’m curious! Angie and I were just talking about the film “June” where our heroine stays close to her group of school friends into adulthood, which was not our experience. I’m interested in learning about other people, are you like me and Angie, or are you like a movie?

Let’s Look at SRK’s Recent Tweets! They Aren’t That Exciting, But At Least They Exist!

Remember the golden days when Shahrukh’s twitter was just his stream of consciousness thoughts flowing out? I feel like people who missed that era, missed a whole part of him. When his fans say “he’s so smart, he’s so quick, he’s so original”, that’s what we are talking about. Unfiltered, unprocessed, pure SRK. You just can’t see it in the interviews or any other way. Anyway, now it is very filtered and very processed, but at least he is tweeting again.

Christmas Movies Made Better: Home Alone with a Desi Female Heroine in a Telugu Family Film, White Christmas in the Hindi Film Industry Post-Independence, Princess Switch Remade Totally Straight

Christmas Movies! YAAAAAAAY! I watch them, I sew, I wrap, I cook, I clean, my December goes by. They are not really made to be watched closely, I think, they are made to be thrown on the TV to stop the kids from screaming, or else to play in the background for company as you complete a thousand and one tasks.

Congratulations to Angie!!!! Christmas GiveAway Winner Week 6!!!!

Yaaaaay, a new winner! Every year I get so excited each week to see who is going to win this time. It really should not be that exciting for me, and yet it is. This week really was kind of exciting, thanks to everyone having technical difficulties and Angie making a special effort, she ended up coming out on top in the watchalong comments!

Saturday Small Talk: Chat Away While I Finish ALL MY CHRISTMAS THINGS! Because I am BETTER THAN YOU

Happy Saturday! And 13 days before Christmas! And I am spending the day wrapping and mailing my final gifts, because I have finished all my Christmas things almost two weeks early. Which is a day sooner than last year. Next year, a full two weeks early! Give me another few years, I’ll be done with Christmas before Thanksgiving!
