I avoided this movie because it looked scary, and I don’t like scary movies! But it really wasn’t bad, because it was less about the “scary” parts, and more about the character parts. The specifics of the danger weren’t the point, it was the way our heroine rushed headline into the danger that was the point. Because young women are very very foolish!
Happy Sarkar 3 week! I wouldn’t be that excited, except that I like Amit Sadh so much and I am very eager to have this help his career. So, everybody, remember that Sarkar 3 is coming out and look for good reviews that mention Amit Sadh!
What an interesting movie! It’s about stuttering, but not really. It’s about growing up, but not really that either. And it’s also a little bit about Mukesh being a really nice guy. It’s all of these things combined, it’s just sort of about life.

Happy 24 hours to Baahubali 2! 24 hours worldwide, by the way. Every showtime I can see around me starts at 2:30pm on the nose on Thursday, which is midnight Friday in India. This is what I love about film bringing us together, all over the world, at the exact same second, the lights will go down and people will watch Baahubali together.
Hello All! I got such a nice response to this weeks Sunday post on Jane Eyre, partly because it was a topic that a lot of you felt deeply about and had a lot of background for. So, I am going to take advantage of this momentum and let you vote! This is probably a one time thing, I won’t be doing it every week, so make sure you take advantage!
Proportionally short. If regular movies are 3 hours, and this is a little over an hour and a quarter, and regular podcasts of mine are 25 minutes, this is closer to 13. As always, better to read the SPOILER review first, so you can follow what we are saying about the plot and stuff.
Chennai Update Part 3! THE FINAL LIST!!! My sister is flying out tomorrow, so this is the last update. Unless you suggest something really good, and then I will send her an email. But ideally she can just print off this blog post and carry it with her at all times. Like her passport, but more important. Anyway, I am putting it up on the blog so that she can refer back to it at any point from anywhere with internet access, and also so you all can see it if you are curious.
Third post on this! But I am just going to keep going until I feel like I have heard from all of you. I’ve been feeling very grateful for the warm weather and sunshine and general good things in life lately. And one of the things I am most grateful for is that people actually read what I say on this blog! It’s so AMAZING!!! And I want to thank you all for that. I am the India Area Chair for the Midwest Popular Culture Association! The annual conference is in October, the submission deadline for that conference is this month (gah!). But the submission is easy, just a paragraph about what your talk will be on, and then you have 6 months to actually write the thing. Hello my loyal and faithful readers! Have you noticed that I did a bit of spring cleaning of the website last week? Slightly different site design, which gives us back our header menu. More importantly, I re-arranged the categories of things. It’s all in tidy weekly order now, starting with Monday Questions straight through Silly Sunday. But, I need to do a lot more! And I need your advice on that.
It’s Spring now, and I am enjoying the warm days, and also enjoying life in general. And a big reason for that is because of how much fun I have writing this blog, and feeling like I am being heard and read! And so I want to say a little “thank you” to all my readers, whether you are new or old, comment regularly or not at all, only read the posts you like and skip the rest, anything! It all counts and it all deserves a “Thank You!” (I posted about this a few days ago, and I am just going to keep putting up reminder posts until I feel sure you all saw it! So far I have only gotten responses from 5 of you.)
Needed a nice way to wind down Monday night, so I browsed around for some nice new fanvids to share. And now I am posting them for you, so you have a nice way to get through Tuesday!
Chennai Update! I have put in some of your suggestions, plus added a few books. If something you suggested isn’t included, it’s not because I hate you, it’s because I explored and I can find a copy without needing to go all the way to Chennai for it. And I want to save luggage space for the really really hard stuff!

Happy Spring! Sort of. I don’t know about where you are, but where I am we are still alternating sunny warmth with rainy yuchiness that feels more February than April. On the other hand, I know some of you are in the southern hemisphere and are about to enter Fall (my favorite season!). But I decided to declare it Spring in the official Don’t Call It Bollywood-land. And in honor of spring, a celebration of you, My Readers!
Wonderful news! My sister is going to Chennai! And I’m not! Which is perfect, because going to India makes me violently deathly ill to the point of not being able to get up off the floor, and my sister is willing to take a shopping list with her. And you get to help me write it!
