This was another disappointing Malayalam film. Not because of bad politics or misogyny, just because of a kind of rambling plot and characters that changed direction too quickly. Still happy catchy songs and pretty pretty places, but overall not great.

I made it! Sunday night! I thought I would never get here. But I did, and I am in bed, and tomorrow morning I get to go to work which will be strangely relaxing after everything else.

I thought about doing something for Salman and his court case, but I wasn’t in the mood to write about any movie with him, and besides that seems like kind of a downer. So instead, Prabhu’s birthday celebration! And a movie which is very good at the very specific thing it does.
Why even watch? The whole point is the dog! Really, this is just the same as what is on this post, but in video form so I can get readers to click over from youtube (hopefully). You can skip it, since there is no dog to see. Although you can see my DVD shelf behind me, that’s fun.
Well, this is news. Or maybe not. Salman has been sentenced to jail a lot, and then somehow it ends up not happening, so I just don’t know.

Well, this is depressing! I went for a new film, with Rima Kallingal, thinking I would be safe from that horrible strain of really gross misogyny that runs through Malayalam films. But, no! Still there! Even in a film from 2014 with one of the strongest actresses working today.
Last year they got a big post doing their whole romance in film songs (you can read it here). But that was for their 40th, which is a big deal. This is just their 41st. So this year I think I will just talk about their actual wedding.
Happy Monday! And Happy 41 Years of Marriage to my parents! Last year was a big deal, but now it is just kind of “whatever” until they hit 50.
I debated a long time over how to celebrate this holiday, because I don’t like playing tricks on people, I think it is mean. But movie characters aren’t as nice as me, so I will celebrate by putting up a bunch of songs in which the movie people play tricks.
