Part 1 didn’t get as many comments as I expected, but it did get decent views, so I am moving on!Continue reading
If I didn’t know where Imtiaz was heading, I would find this both better and worse. As in, I can watch it and see the hints of the irritating passive hero of Tamasha, but also the brilliant deep romance of Jab Harry Met Sejal. It’s an interesting one to look back on!Continue reading
No one cares about this, do they? I am just so pleased with the idea that I want to write it down before I forget.Continue reading
Have I reviewed Main Hoon Na? I can’t remember. I know I did Om Shanti Om because Farah re-tweeted my review and that was cool. And I know I HAVEN’T done this movie, because I made a mental note that I hadn’t reviewed it a few months back. Anyway, I already reviewed a fascinating groundbreaking risky sexy feminist film Paap, today I will review a big dumb fun hit film with a neutral to anti-feminist message. Let’s see which gets more attention!Continue reading
Oh boy! A review for a movie that isn’t very good, so I can write it quickly! I hope. I tend to get a bit lost and write too much even about the less good movies.Continue reading
This was one of many movies from my YRF list earlier this week that it was requested I review. I picked it because, well, I can remember it well enough to review without needing a rewatch. And it certainly doesn’t deserve a rewatch.Continue reading
Happy Saturday! We get to go to doggie training class, and I will do laundry, and other fun stuff. And also, wait to see if my eye unswells itself.Continue reading
Kangana through Rangoli just said something so shocking I have to point it out and correct it. And on the other hand, two bits of casting that make me happy, Kat and Sara both get good parts.Continue reading
So, TCM (greatest channel EVER) is in the middle of a Garbo fest and I caught a double bill on Friday and it inspired me. Get ready for very VERY specific narrowcasting fanfics. You know, for all those hardcore Garbo/Indian film fans. There must be more of them than just me and Maria Gill, right?Continue reading
Ready for a quick news post before I start the long journey towards home? Fun fun! There’s pictures!Continue reading
I promised to write this review for Valentine’s Week and then I missed it, so I am squeezing it in now instead. Oh well, I didn’t have anything else planned for today anyway.Continue reading
I always remembered this as a really good movie, but I hadn’t watched it straight through in a few years and thought maybe I was mis-remembering. No, it really is a really good movie!Continue reading
This is not nearly as fun as Sonam’s part so far. But there are a few fun videos leaking out. Okay, there are 4 videos. But they are all really fun!
I don’t know why we were/are all so obsessed with this. What did we think was going to happen? The photos would release and they would be, like, nude or in a slap fight or something?
I was going to make this a “Hindi Film 101” and then I thought “no, I don’t want to think that much or go so far in depth, I’ll just make this fun”. So, FUN!!! Be ready for that!
Ready for me to be grumpy? Sometimes I just am, I read these news stories and think “everyone is stupid and gullible!” and it bothers me.
I love you us.hotstar.com!!!!!! I think I may have been able to watch this even before the India broadcast? Anyway, get a hotstar subscription, all you people reading this! It’s worth it!
Moviemavengal confessed her love for the “fake marriage” romance trope, and it’s one I like quite a bit as well. And it’s pretty rare in Indian film, replaced by “real arranged marriage becomes love” which isn’t quite the same thing. So I shall write a few script suggestions just in case anyone needs any! (oh, and if you want to see one that already exists, check out Love By Square Foot on Netflix)
So glad I rewatched this movie! Especially after having seen October, so I can see what is unique to this film and what is just Shoojit Sircar. And, more importantly, what is just Deepika.
Happy Father’s Day! This is a repost from last year, but it is very long and worth rereading. And also very very good, I forgot how good this one was! There’s Rana and Shahrukh fighting in wet shirts, Ranbir and Sonakshi falling in love, Varun Dhawan and a baby, all kinds of good things. Also, it’s a Father’s Day Multiverse and all the stories are connected. And anyway, I am spending 6 hours at church today (service plus organizing coffee hour plus meeting), so I earned a rerun.
Happy Sunday! I wrote soooooooooooooooo much yesterday, and like good high quality stuff, reviews of Bhavesh Joshi and Veere Di Wedding. So this morning, I get to write short total trash, in a nice change of pace. Let’s pretend the world is a bad romance novel of the Judith Kranz type and rewrite reality!
Oh boy, this is a fun one! I’ve been saving it for a special occasion. Indian women looking fabulous in saris.
I’m not going to repost the whole 3 part Padmavat summary review, that would be INSANE. Instead I am going to repost the much shorter no spoilers review.
