This movie released, a few select critics applauded it as one of the best films they had ever seen, and then it disappeared a few days later. I saw it, and I know a few other people here on the blog watched it, and we all think of it as a really remarkably good movie. One of those films you find yourself thinking about at surprising moments. It’s one of Irrfan’s few films where he is good, but the rest of the film lives up to his performance. It’s also extremely sad. Not tragic exactly, just sad. Be warned.Continue reading
This will either turn out to be way too many on this list, or way too few. I really have no idea until I get started! Oh, and it’s definitely not a countdown, that would be impossible. These are all tied in my heart.Continue reading
Thank goodness for Shahrukh summer! I have had a weird bad day that started with a nightmare about brownies and Marie Curie, and ended with a boat in the middle of the road blocking my route home from work. So now I am going to do a silly silly post.Continue reading
Huh. Well, I watched it, and I’m glad I did so now I can stop wondering about it. But really, it wasn’t as good as I expected.Continue reading
It was just pouring rain here yesterday. In that “I cannot see out the window and the sun is not coming up” kind of way. Which is nice, because it has been bright hot sun for the past 3 days. So today the rain sort of felt cozy and nice. I just needed a nice Indian movie star to curl up with and watch the storm.Continue reading
Okay, I’m gonna be lazy and just use the stuff that came up in the comments of the discussion post asking for topics early this week.Continue reading
The problem with film noirs is that half the time they are more atmospheric than plot based. Makes it harder to remake them. I am going to remake another one with a good strong plot (Leave Her to Heaven), and another that I really love and which has a totally impenetrable plot (Murder My Sweet) but maybe also a role for Shahrukh. Oh, and that fanfic I wrote in the comments for Miss Briganza, in case anyone missed it. And this is a VERY LONG POST. But I hope you will read it, because there is good stuff in here.Continue reading
An experiment! We all watched the same movie, and now I have to review it. Which is A LOT of pressure on me, since for once you have all seen the movie as recently as me and probably understood it better. Oh well, you can think of this as a starting point for a discussion, not the end.
Well, this is a nice little promising collection of stories on upcoming films! Everything looks good today.
The beauty of this movie, is that I can write about it very quickly. Because it is not worth a lot of words. The other beauty of this movie, is that 2 of the most attractive men in Indian film are in it, and also Rahul Khanna. And the third beauty of this movie is that it is smart enough to know how dumb it is. The best kind of dumb movie. And anyway, I have a semi-tradition of writing about bad movies on Friday the 13th.
You understand that I mean “gay” as a genre, not an insult, right? Kind of horrible that I have to make that clarification. There used to be a movie store in the gay neighborhood of my city that had a series of shelves called “Neighborhood Favorites”. Which was their little pseudonym for movies with same sex romantic plot lines. So maybe I should say that instead, all the Khans, plus Amitabh, should be in “neighborhood favorite” movies.
Happy Pride! I am celebrating by sleeping in and recovering from the concert last night. But I will still mark the occasion with the annual reposts!Continue reading
Happy Father’s Day! I already reposted last year’s post, which was hideously in depth. And today I am busy giving the church service AND organizing food for coffee hour AND spending time with Dad and Grandpa. So for new content, one line plot ideas. Vote for your favorite! Maybe I will write the whole thing next week.
Sorry to those of you who like deep thoughtful posts, my brain is fried and I have no thoughtfulness available too me. Also, I have to write a church service. Also do laundry. It’s a busy week, no time for thought today! So, join me in total superficiality!
Happy Friday! Sorry this is late, crazy day at work, I had to share my computer so looking at sexy photos was a no-go. On the other hand, we also had a baby visit at work, which inspired this post. Hopefully worth the wait.
My boss’ wife is sick today, so he had to bring his two year old into the office. She is the sweetest little thing and they are soooooooooooooooo cute together. And thus the inspiration for this post!
It’s Preity’s birthday week! And Urmila’s too! And both of them deserve to be working more, even though they are over 40. So, I have IDEAS!
Happy Friday! Time to check out the news again and see if people have moved on from Shashi. And the answer is…..not quite yet.
I was all nice and daughterly and granddaughterly yesterday, now it’s time to be completely inappropriate and put up my TGIF post! And as a special treat, I am posting it early in the day. It should still keep you entertained all day, since I think this is my longest TGIF post ever. And it also includes a complex and objective rating system, that you can feel free to disagree with, modify, or use for your own ratings in the comments
Happy Amitabh’s birthday again! And, because it is his birthday, I thought I would do a Shahrukh birthday post that could kind of work for Amitji too. So, co-stars!!!! Not in order in any way, just 22 that are interesting to think about.
While I celebrate by cleaning my apartment, enjoy this songs that celebrate labor! And, hopefully, will help inspire me to labor myself.
Datablue pointed out in comments on yesterday’s trailer post that I ignored Arjun Rampal’s Daddy, once again. And I made a mental note that the next time I had an excuse for a trailer post, I would talk about it. And then I open up twitter, and poof! Trailer! So now I get to combine two very very different films in one post.
Happy Friday! It was pouring rain this morning, and now it is blazing sunshine. Which is making me think, “Sunglasses!” It’s not the most original photo series idea, but it is always good. Because sunglasses obscure your eyes, which make you look more otherworldly and better than us mortals. Also, easier to see you as just manmeat, and not a person!
