Silly Birthday Boys Post: Naga Chaitanya, Arjun Rampal, or Vijay Raaz?

Three very different men! All of whom have birthdays in the same one week period! And all of whom kind of hit a different taste level as movie stars. Let’s set them against each other!

Irrfan Khan Fest: New Review! D-Day, His Saddest Greatest Film That No One Talks About

This movie released, a few select critics applauded it as one of the best films they had ever seen, and then it disappeared a few days later. I saw it, and I know a few other people here on the blog watched it, and we all think of it as a really remarkably good movie. One of those films you find yourself thinking about at surprising moments. It’s one of Irrfan’s few films where he is good, but the rest of the film lives up to his performance. It’s also extremely sad. Not tragic exactly, just sad. Be warned.

Silly Sunday: Little Women as a Dark Romantic Drama! Laurie is Evil and Amy is Gay

Thanks Alisa! You saw the new American Little Women and complained about it which inspired me to rethink my Indian remake (already wrote it once here) when you suggested that one of the Little Women should get herself a Little Woman.

Shahrukh Summer: Chemistry Test, Who Would We Cast Opposite Him in a Same-Sex Love Story?

Thank goodness for Shahrukh summer! I have had a weird bad day that started with a nightmare about brownies and Marie Curie, and ended with a boat in the middle of the road blocking my route home from work. So now I am going to do a silly silly post.

TGIF: Cozy Pictures

It was just pouring rain here yesterday. In that “I cannot see out the window and the sun is not coming up” kind of way. Which is nice, because it has been bright hot sun for the past 3 days. So today the rain sort of felt cozy and nice. I just needed a nice Indian movie star to curl up with and watch the storm.

Silly Sunday! For Pride! Harsh Kapoor and Harsh Rane, Ranveer-Ranbir-Dips Love Triangle, Rajkummar-John-Vidya-Kareena Same Sex Quadrangle, Prithviraj-Tovino Village Romance, Aamir-John Abraham Long Time Lovers, and Arjun-Shahrukh (my favorite!)

Okay, I’m gonna be lazy and just use the stuff that came up in the comments of the discussion post asking for topics early this week.

Silly Sunday: Two More Noirs for Red Chillies! Leave Her to Heaven, and Murder My Sweet with Shahrukh. Plus Bonus Period Calcutta FanFic!

The problem with film noirs is that half the time they are more atmospheric than plot based. Makes it harder to remake them. I am going to remake another one with a good strong plot (Leave Her to Heaven), and another that I really love and which has a totally impenetrable plot (Murder My Sweet) but maybe also a role for Shahrukh. Oh, and that fanfic I wrote in the comments for Miss Briganza, in case anyone missed it. And this is a VERY LONG POST. But I hope you will read it, because there is good stuff in here.

Friday Classics: Raajneeti, I Cared Too Much About Some Characters and Too Little About Others

An experiment!  We all watched the same movie, and now I have to review it.  Which is A LOT of pressure on me, since for once you have all seen the movie as recently as me and probably understood it better.  Oh well, you can think of this as a starting point for a discussion, not the end.

Friday Not-So-Classic: Elaan, Because I Am Feeling John Abraham

The beauty of this movie, is that I can write about it very quickly.  Because it is not worth a lot of words.  The other beauty of this movie, is that 2 of the most attractive men in Indian film are in it, and also Rahul Khanna.  And the third beauty of this movie is that it is smart enough to know how dumb it is. The best kind of dumb movie.  And anyway, I have a semi-tradition of writing about bad movies on Friday the 13th.

Silly Sunday: Happy Pride (Repost)! Many Many FanFics, Including Shahrukh/Arjun and Rani/Vidya

You understand that I mean “gay” as a genre, not an insult, right?  Kind of horrible that I have to make that clarification.  There used to be a movie store in the gay neighborhood of my city that had a series of shelves called “Neighborhood Favorites”.  Which was their little pseudonym for movies with same sex romantic plot lines.  So maybe I should say that instead, all the Khans, plus Amitabh, should be in “neighborhood favorite” movies.

Silly Sunday: Mini-plots, pick one! Everything from Arjun-Hrithik Rom-Com to Naked SRK

Let’s Make a Match! Arjuns Edition (with bonus Hrithik)

Sorry to those of you who like deep thoughtful posts, my brain is fried and I have no thoughtfulness available too me.  Also, I have to write a church service.  Also do laundry.  It’s a busy week, no time for thought today!  So, join me in total superficiality!

TGIF: Happy Day After Thanksgiving! Something I am Very Thankful for, Men in Blue Jeans!

I was all nice and daughterly and granddaughterly yesterday, now it’s time to be completely inappropriate and put up my TGIF post!  And as a special treat, I am posting it early in the day.  It should still keep you entertained all day, since I think this is my longest TGIF post ever.  And it also includes a complex and objective rating system, that you can feel free to disagree with, modify, or use for your own ratings in the comments

Happy 22 Days to SRK’s Birthday! 22 Interesting Co-Stars

Happy Amitabh’s birthday again!  And, because it is his birthday, I thought I would do a Shahrukh birthday post that could kind of work for Amitji too.  So, co-stars!!!!  Not in order in any way, just 22 that are interesting to think about.

TGIF: Feet First! Inspired by Jab Harry Met Sejal

So, we’ve all watched “Hawaaiyan” a million times now, right?  And we’ve all gotten into the footplay thing in the middle?  Or is that just me?  In order to celebrate our new shared foot fetish, let’s look at a whole bunch of bare foot photos.
