I feel this is a completely appropriate topic, because hair is a created art form (your stylist takes what you have and changes it), so we can rank his hair as much as we might rank his performances or his clothing styles. Right? It’s not unfair objectification? Oh well, maybe it is, but it’s fun!

Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me After a Busy Weekend?
Happy Monday! I had a weird long weekend and now I get to relax by being at work. And continue to wait for the thunderstorm that’s gonna cool everything down.
Continue readingShahrukh Summer/Silly Sunday: A Movie For Nisha/Karisma in Dil To Pagal Hai
Poor Nisha/Karisma! So much more interesting than “just” a third leg of a triangle should be. She deserves a happy ending, right?
Continue readingUpcoming Film Reviews: Uyare, Nenu Naa Rakshasi, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Jodha-Akbar
It’s the end of theme weeks! Along the way I managed to catch up on some movies which means I now have enough to write a new Malayalam, Tamil/Telugu, and classic film review for next week. Woo-hoo!
Continue readingSunday ReRun: Bhavesh Joshi, the Film That Made Me So Angry I Couldn’t Write
It’s funny, usually when we think of Superhero movies, we think about being inspired or excited or hopeful. But that’s not why someone would become a vigilante, they would become a vigilante because they are just so ANGRY. This is a movie that puts you in the mindset of the superhero, not those he is saving. And it’s a dark place.
Continue readingDirectors Week: Vikramaditya Motwane, His Style Follows the Feelings
I really love this director. His movies are like a cool shower, they are so cleansing and fresh and clean and pure. You should all watch all of them (there’s only 4).
Continue readingShahrukh Summer/Directors Week: What One Time Director Do We Want to See SRK Work With Again?
I already did a “favorite SRK director” post, this is a little more specific. Shahrukh has worked with a lot of directors only once, which one of them do we want to see him with again (excepting the ones who are dead)?
Continue readingDirectors Week: Puri Jaganaddh, An Openly Amoral Universe
Do you like Kill Bill? What about District B13? Or Ong-Bak Thai Warrior? Or anything Luc Bresson? If so, this is the director for you. If, on the other hand, you like your movies with deep relationships, moral conundrums, and emotions that make you cry, avoid!!!! You will hate him and, worse than that, not understand why I love him.
Continue readingSaturday Small Talk: Shahrukh’s Hair, Albie Dog, and Scheduling Challenges
Happy Saturday! I have such a frustrating weekend, there are two movies in theaters that I just will not be able to watch. Grrr!
Continue readingDirectors Week/Friday Classics: Lootera, a Tragic Love Story That Isn’t a Tragedy
I finally watched it! After years of people telling me to watch it! It took long enough, but I did it.
Continue readingTGIF/Shahrukh Summer: Shahrukh Through the Years, 23 to 53
This would really make more sense as a Birthday Month post, but oh well, it occurred to me today.
Continue readingGang Leader Review (SPOILERS): Gang of Women
Again, SUCH a delightful movie!!!!! If you have a chance to watch it, you should read my other review and avoid spoilers. If you have seen it, come here to discuss. And if you want to find out the plot before watching for your own reasons, here are spoilers. Most of the delight of the film is in how it is presented, so even if you spoil yourself there is still plenty to enjoy.
Continue readingGang Leader Review (No Spoilers): A Happy Revenge Movie
What a good movie! What a happy silly fun goodhearted movie. Once again, Nani has stolen my heart. You should all go see this IMMEDIATELY.
Continue readingShahrukh Summer: Which Shahrukh Movies Would You Change?
Again, this is one of those posts that acknowledges not all Shahrukh movies are perfect. We are all cool with that, right? I’m not gonna get angry threats on twitter like I did that one time? Okay, good.
Continue readingGood Morning! Wanna See a Dog and Grandpa Photo?
Happy Thursday! It’s weird and hot here, and I was up late again partying with Grandpa, and I still have finished with my monthly reconcile at work, so this is a fun placeholder post.
Continue readingShahrukh Summer: Favorite Era of Shahrukh Films
I just wrote a truly brilliant post (here), one of those rare amazing ones, and now my brain is dead. So I will offer up a brain dead post as filler, and return to my beloved SRK.
Continue readingHindi Film 101: High Concept, Low Concept, Genres, Male Versus Female Criticism, and Western Versus Indian Film
Thank you Reflects on Life and MKP and Popka Superstar for encouraging me to write this post! It’s probably not exactly what you pictured (nothing ever is, life is a series of disappointments), but at least it’s kind of getting at it.
Continue readingWednesday Watching Post: What Are You Reading and Watching and Thinking and Listening To This Week?
Happy Wednesday! And happy day before Gang Leader releases and two days before Dream Girl. I wonder which I should watch?
Continue readingShahrukh Summer/Ranbir Hate Week: Which Ranbir Role Would You Give to Shahrukh?
Oo oo! Combined theme post! Love and hate, brought together in one discussion post.
Continue readingRanbir Hate Fun Continues! Which Ranbir Movie is the Worst Ranbir Movie?
Oh my, I don’t know if even I can answer this question! But the fun thing is, we don’t have to pick just one answer. We can all hate our own things for our own reasons. (the links in the titles will take you back to my reviews)
Continue readingRanbir Hate Week Rolls On! Remember When I Was Really Really Mean About Jagga Jasoos?
Why is it so joyful to beat up Ranbir? I just don’t know! Is he a symbol of all indulged Indian men in the world? Or do we hate him just for himself? Does it really matter? Anyway, here is a review of his one and only movie as a producer which I hated very very much and which he produced so terribly he literally ended a studio (UTV, RIP). The paragraph where I rip into Ranbir is in bold.
Continue readingThree Important Discussion Questions: Hair, Tiger, and Birthday Presents
I was up way too late last night watching Student of the Year 2 with my friend Dina. So now I am stumbling through the morning, but I have 3 vital questions you all can discuss while I try to wake up.
Continue readingDiscussion Post: Why is Ranbir Kapoor Such a Disaster for a Movie?
Somehow since my Rockstar review, this has turned into “pile on to Ranbir” week. And I decided, let’s lean into that and keep it going!
Continue readingDirectors Week: Yash Chopra, Starmaker
Yashji! I love him. And I’ve already written a lot about him for his birthdays and such. Let’s see if I can come up with something new!
Continue readingMonday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me The Week Dream Girl Comes Out?
Happy Monday! Tonight I get to watch Student of the Year 2 again with my friend who loves Tiger. It shouldn’t be too torturous, I don’t love Tiger but I do kind of love Student of the Year 2.
