Huh! One of the best episodes so far, and I would not have expected that! Just the right mood and the right chemistry I guess, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

Next Sunday ReRun Announcement! Aaina, for Juhi’s Birthday!
Two separate Juhi reviews next week! What fun for you! Plus Amrita Singh is in both of them! Huh, that’s weird. Oh well, I won’t think too much about it.
Next Friday, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman! For Juhi’s Birthday!
Oh boy, next week is Juhi week! What fun! First this on Friday, then another rerun movie on Sunday!
Khoobsurat Review ReRun: The Best Disney Fairy Tale in Hindi Film
I watched Khoobsurat for the 4th time last night (I missed it in theaters, but have seen it 4 times on DVD after a friend told me I HAD to watch it). It’s just as good as it ever was, but it’s also a whole different experience watching it having just seen Neerja. In all sorts of ways.
Silly Sunday RePost: In Honor Thugs, My Ideas For Far Better Period Dramas, JTHJ to Dhoom 2
Huh. All major YRF films. YRF SHOULD HIRE ME TO HEAD A “PERIOD REMAKES” DIVISION!!!!!! These would all be so much better and use their historical period in far more interesting ways than Thugs of Hindostan did.
Silly Sunday: Thugs of Hindostan Without Aamir
On my second watch (kidnapped by my friend Dina and forced to rewatch it), I amused myself by picturing the film without Aamir as part of it. And you know, it works! There is no actual narrative need for Aamir to be there. Here, I’ll show you. Oh, and this will make a lot more sense if you’ve already seen the movie.
Thugs of Hindostan Scene By Scene Part 3: The Ending!!!! I Hate It
Last section! The shortest amount of screen time of all the sections I am covering. But I guess the most important since it is the ending? (full index of Thugs of Hindostan coverage here)
Thugs of Hindostan Scene By Scene Part 2, Middle Third Up To Last Song: Aamir Gets Insufferable and I Get MEAN
I already put up Part 1, plus reviews and stuff, you can check them out in the Thugs of Hindostan index here. This is not a super detailed scene by scene, but it is a little detailed, there was just more stuff I wanted to talk about than could be included in the SPOILER review.
Thugs of Hindostan Scene By Scene Part 1, First Third! Opening through Aamir Taking On the Mission
Yes, I’m doing it! Mostly because I found a lot of little moments I wanted to talk about in the film and the simplest way to do it is string them all together and talk about everything that happens in the whole film. (index of Thugs coverage here)
Thugs of Hindostan Index
Not nearly as much coverage as for some other films, but at least I can throw together the reviews and scene by scenes in one place.
Saturday Small Talk: Which of These Stories Surprises You LEAST?
Happy Saturday! Today is the day I do NOTHING. I am very excited about this. Of course, Dog Hazel will still drag me outside for our daily walks, and I should probably buy milk, but otherwise NOTHING. And you can join me in my nothing by lazily talking about gossip stories.
TGIF: It’s Snowing, I’m Cold-Celebrities As Hot Drinks
I may be failing at my “only have coffee three times a week and then the caffeine doesn’t get to you” system. I am sitting in my office on a no-caffeine day dreaming of coffee. Maybe I should get a hot chocolate instead and see if I can trick myself.
Songs For When You Need to Tell the Voices in Your Head “Go to Heck!”
Sorry, I know the headline is lame, but my Grandma is up in heaven reading this blog everyday and she would never forgive me if I used actual swears, especially since it is her birthday tomorrow. Just fill in that I actually meant the-real-word-for-“Heck”.
Friday Classics: Main Hoon Na, It May Not Be a Classic But It Will Always Be a Favorite Because it Just Makes You HAPPY
Happy Friday! Finally got to the end of the week! Phew. And as a reward, a completely fun and silly movie and a completely fun and silly review.
Thugs of Hindostan Review (SPOILERS): Aamir is No Han Solo
I already put up my No Spoilers review, you can read that if you want to avoid spoilers. Most of the fun of the movie is in the action set-pieces which I can’t really spoil, so you don’t have to be that careful about it, read this review if you want. Oh, and this review is a little short because I am planning to do a semi-scene by scene for this film. Probably more like first half/second half, but the structure and visuals were interesting enough that I want to dissect them piece by piece over the next few days.
Thugs of Hindostan Review (No Spoilers): A Film That Runs from Anything Real
Well, that was odd! A movie with a lot of depth and meaning and purpose that somehow got shrunk and diminished until it became meaningless and small and ugly. Huh. Oh, but the action scenes are still kind of fun, you should still watch it for that if you want.
Ready to see a Baby with Good Taste in Films?
I hung out with a baby last night and it made me so happy, so I wanted to share it with you, because she is a truly excellent baby (don’t worry, I got permission from her parents to use the photos).
Diwali Repost! Swades, Shahrukh Argues that Ram is Within Us All and We Should Save Ourselves
I think it’s one of those Big movies that I was avoiding, ones that are really good, and I also really like and I want to be careful to explain why I like them in a way that makes you like them too, not just appreciate their quality.
Diwali Repost! Lajja, Telling Sita’s Story From Multiple Directions
This movie is just barely a classic. It’s not the best, it’s got quite a few massive flaws in fact, but it’s still really interesting and worthy of discussion. And the best part is how well it shows women rescuing themselves, very appropriate for today’s discussion.
Diwali Songs Post! Let’s Let the Light In!
I am having the worst day, just woke up miserable and stressed for no good reason. I hate those days! And I hate those people who are always sad! So, I’m going to stop being sad, by just forcing myself not to be. Anyway, it’s Diwali!!!!! Light over darkness!
Wednesday Watching Post: What Are You Watching and Reading and Thinking and Listening To Diwali Week?
Happy Wednesday! I’m feeling bleak, mostly because the weather is totally overcast, partly because I put in soooooooooooo much work on the two reviews yesterday and no one read them (tip: if you want more Malayalam reviews, maybe read Malayalam reviews? And comment and share? Because otherwise I’m not gonna bother). Anyway, I get to go over to a friend’s house tonight, so that will be nice.
Tashan: Don’t Underestimate the Damsel in Distress, or Over-estimate the Femme Fatale
Yaaaay, I finally get to put up my Tashan review! And hopefully some of you either watched it this week or remember it well enough to comment anyway.
Upcoming Movie Announcement: Malayalam ReRun, Niram! Swoon to 90s Love
Obviously, next week’s Tamil review will be Sarkar, whenever I get a chance to see it. But I won’t forget Malayalam entirely, I want to put up a rerun of one of the sweetest nicest little romances of the 90s.
Monday Malayalam (late): Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu, Female Vengeance Flowing Like Water
What a great movie! Made me so happy to watch a really good classic Malayalam film after so long. And my first young Manju Warrier movie! And Thilakan gets his comeuppance! It’s all good.
Happy Election Day!!!!!!
Happy Election Day! I got up very early and voted at the Croation Cultural Center. I could have voted early or done a mail in ballot or any number of other things, but I really like the Croation Cultural Center and waiting until the actual day gives me an excuse to poke around inside. Oh, and looking at my schedule of reviews, today is weirdly going to be all about female vengeance, so that’s kind of a cool theme
