March 29th is the anniversary of both the annexation of the Punjab by the British East India Company in 1849, and the start of the 1857 revolution with the actions of Mangal Panday 8 years later. So that’s cool!
I already did action film and rom-com lists to match this. My goal is, once you have finished the list of DVDs recommended on websites, or by the librarian, or handed to you in the DVD store, what next? And there is a surprisingly long list of films with strong female central characters in Hindi film.

This is a little bit mean, it is Akshaye Khanna’s birthday today and I am reposting a post slamming his Dad. But it’s really just a coincidence, I’m hearing from more and more people who are watching the Netflix documentary on OSHO, and it seems like a good time to make my article on the India years before and after Oregon available and prominent.
This is a strange little off-shoot of a discussion in the comments about Rani going back to work, and why this is so tough for her. Which ended up relating back to how she is in the “householder” stage which is in fact the most restricted time of life, and then I realized that only makes sense if you know about the 4 Stages/Ashramas of life as expected in Indian society.
I do love Akshaye so very much. But I am also so very busy. So I will continue to slowly work my way up to doing the same number of reasons as how old he is.
Did you know HeroTalkies merged with YuppTV? In some very vague way that I can’t fully understand and makes both websites impossible to navigate? This is why I ended up watching MCA. It was the only movie I was successfully able to find and play. Well, and also Nani. And also Sai.
Happy Monday! I haven’t done a news post in a while, but I have been reading the news. Rest assured that all the various big stories have been processed in my brain, I just choose not to address all of them. These few here are the ones I find interesting.
Happy Monday! Today is the day my parents leave for vacation for a week, and my friend comes back from a week of vacation. And the day I hear back from the shelter about the ultimatum I gave them over the Dang Dog. Such excitement! And I have a question for you unrelated to all of that.
I did a bunch of sequels first thing this morning, but I didn’t do K3G because I had already done Rani’s sequels for that film.
This is from last year, but they are still good ideas! So along with the sequels for Rani from earlier today, here are some brand new movie ideas.
This is really just a recasting and re-writing the characters post, no plot ideas or anything detailed like that. It will only make sense if you have some sense of the original books. But for the small subset of us who do know the original characters, this should be fun!
I have really done an awful lot of Rani themed fanfic! But hey, why not repost all of it? You can just not read it if you aren’t interested.
Gaaaaah! The 3rd or 4th or 5th or 200th small thing just went wrong for me this week. I hate that! When everything is just slightly off and then doesn’t work. So you get to listen to me vent because that will make me feel better. And also explain why there have been so many reruns this week, because I’ve been wasting my time on other stuff that ended up being pointless.
I’m excited! Lots of fun options here! Not just epilogues and alternative endings, but straight up separate movie plots following up on the same characters.
I already put up the No Spoilers review, if you want to stay totally unspoiled. But really, this film is so incredibly formulaic that all you need to know is it’s about an inspiring teacher and you can fill in the rest. There isn’t much to spoil.

I thought this was a movie so strange and unpopular that there was no reason for me to ever write about it, but then in the comments on my post on overlooked rom-coms, we got to talking, and turns out other people also like it, so I might as well talk about it.
Someone just asked in a comment what all the songs are in “The Medley” from Mujshe Dosti Karoge and I thought “sure, that seems like a reasonable one off post to throw up for Rani’s birthday!” I know I can’t identify all the songs, but I can come close and hopefully you in the comments can fill in the rest.
Happy Rani’s Birthday! And after Sridevi, she becomes the first actress to have a full film index all to herself.
There’s a lot of roles that Rani does well, but another actress could do okay. But this is one of those rare movies that truly only Rani could play.
