I could talk about Mahesh Bhatt, or Sanjay Dutt, or Sridevi of course. Or the Hong Kong setting or the crazy plot twists. But for the small community of DCIB, and the even smaller sub-section of DCIB that would be interested in an average film of the mid-90s, I feel that BOB CHRISTO SEX SCENE is what is most likely to get you excited.

10 Movies to Start Discussions About Family
Is anyone here interested in those “shades of gray” characters with moral problems related to violence and the greater good and blah blah blah? no, right? Conversations about right and wrong after those movies are booooooooooooooring. But! How about a movie about right and wrong between the prodigal son versus the caregiver child? Oh yeah, that’s the stuff, that’s the thing that can set off the deep long conversations.
Continue readingIt’s the Anniversary of Mili! Which of These Ill Innocents Classics Makes You Cry the Most?
It’s the anniversary of Mili! That sweet small Hrishikesh Mukherjee movie where Jaya and Amitabh displayed their amazing chemistry, and we all cried and cried. Oh, also, SPOILERS follow for all three movies, so don’t read on if you haven’t seen them.
Continue readingGulabo Sitabo Review (SPOILERS): Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam for the Modern Era
Huh. Interesting idea at the center of this, which somehow completely failed to pay off. Oh well, sometimes these movies can be more fun to talk about than to watch.
Continue readingGulabo Sitabo Review (No Spoilers): Sometimes a Movie Really Has to Be About Something
I did it! I watched the first digital premiere major movie! And I really wish I had seen it in theaters so Dina and I could have whispered to each other jokes about how bad it was the whole time. Not a movie that really makes you happy and entertained and happy when watched by yourself streaming. More one that makes you keep checking the clock and waiting for something to HAPPEN.
Continue readingMonday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me On Tom Alter’s Birthday?
Happy Monday! It’s also Vijay’s birthday, and Amrish Puri, but I decided Tom Alter is the one I care about the most.
Continue readingGood Night! Let Shahrukh Sing You A Lovely Lullaby for Father’s Day
I’m going to bed early! Because that’s the kind of wild and crazy young person I am! Going to bed early, having fancy homemade cold brew coffee for breakfast, I live my Best Life.
Continue readingLet Us Celebrate The Fathers of Free-Thinking Daughters! How Many Can We List?
In films that is. In real life there are plenty of them too, but let’s limit ourselves to films. The Dad’s who say “hey, my daughter is something different, and I love that about her”.
Continue readingFather’s Day List Post: How Many Brother-Father’s Can We Think of?
Listicles! The last refuge of the terminally lazy! Whatever, it’s 90 degrees here and I only have one air conditioned room, now is not a time for deep thought. And you all get to help me with this one!
Continue readingPick Your Favorite Onscreen Father! Shahrukh in KKHH, Aamir in Dangal, or Anil in ELKDTAL?
Look, I’m helpful! I limited it down to the top 3 right off the bat, now you just have to pick between them. Or I suppose do a write in vote for someone else, but why would you?
Continue readingHappy Father’s Day/Pride! Which of These Father/Queer Stories Do You Most Want to See?
It is too hot to think straight today (ha! straight!), not only can I not think enough to write a “real” post and have to fall back on fanfic, even with fanfic I can’t think it all through, I have to just start it off and leave it there for you to imagine the rest.
Continue readingHappy Father’s Day! 5 Films to Watch for Non-Traditional “Father” Roles
Happy Father’s Day!!!! There are so many traditional “father” movies, someone being all authoritative to their biological child. I want to think about all the movies where a male character fulfilled a loving mentoring role to a younger character.
Continue readingWhy does “Jana Gana Mana” Make Me Cry in Loins of Punjab More Than in K3G?
So, we all watched Loins of Punjab Presents on Friday. And it is funny and heartfelt and sweet and good things. But right at the end there is a sequence with the Indian National Anthem that just makes you start to cry and it’s very strange, because there is no obvious reason it should make you cry. I’ve been thinking about it for a day now and I’m still not sure why it makes me cry, but I think I have a theory.
Continue readingDiscussion Post: Have You Gone Grocery Shopping Yet? What Is It Like?
This feels like a pleasant community building kind of topic, right? Not scary, not panic inducing, and something that it is nice to feel other people are going through it as well.
Continue readingSaturday Small Talk: Chat Away While I Go Grocery Shopping!
Yes! I am going to go to a grocery store for the first time in 3 months! I am so excited! I’m gonna get fruit and milk and fun stuff and it will be awesome.
Continue readingPride Day Post! Pick Your Favorite Queer Anthem For Your Imaginary Float!
There are so many great song options for float themes, if you were to be in charge of making a Pride float using a Hindi film song. I’m gonna start us off with 3 songs and you can add on whatever else you can think of, or pick from these three.
Continue readingPride Day Recommendation Post: Recommend Fun Queer Movies To Us!
I really have a very small list of Queer films, now that I think about it. I should fix that! Y’all give me things to watch.

I was going to say “that could be queer love stories”, but really that is all of them. Out of all the possible wonderful queer films, which do you most want?

Surely, this will be a long list, won’t it? Any time you are watching a movie going “ooo, the two ‘best friend’ characters really have great chemistry”. Tell us about them!
Continue readingWatch a Movie With Me in 12 Hours, 4pm Chicago Time! Loins of Punjab Presents, For Rent or on Vimeo!
I am making a tiny exception, just this once, because the rights are so funky and giving a link to a Vimeo source. Hopefully this is watchable anywhere in the world, fingers crossed. If not, it’s worth the time to hunt a bit and try to find it anywhere you can.
Continue readingBook Day/Pride Day: What Characters Have You Always Read as Queer Even If They Weren’t Labeled As Such?
Does that make sense? I don’t want to say, “what characters have you always read as queer even when they were straight” because that assumes straight is the default. Like, if some character has nothing indicating one way or the other, we assume straight. I want if they are indicated as straight, or not indicated as anything, either way you still chose to read them as Queer. Not even chose, they just read that way to you.
Continue readingBook Day/Pride Question: What Famous Book Romance Should Be Made into a Same-Sex Indian Movie? (also known as “Margaret crafts the perfect Jane Eyre adaptation”)
Not same-sex in the book! That’s the point. Usual boy-girl thing in the book, and then you flip the genders and make an awesome movie.
Continue readingBook Day! What Indian Movie Do You Most Want Made Into a Book?
This is a very clear question in my head, hopefully I can make it clear for other people to understand too. Because I want to know your thoughts!
Continue readingHappy Movie For Tomorrow 4PM Part 2: Loins of Punjab Presents, or Ohm Shaanti Oshana, or Dostana (2008), or Nina’s Heavenly Delights?
NOTE THE TIME!!!! I’ve got a tight schedule tomorrow, so I have to bump from our usual 3pm to 4PM CHICAGO TIME TOMORROW instead. With that in mind, I am also leaning slightly shorter on our movies. It’s quite the mix here, all they have in common is that they are available streaming, and they make Margaret smile. Some of them also are Pride themed, but not all of them.
