A vital question! And I am throwing in a complication to make this hard, Sex Marry Punch but with FOUR choices. So one of them you have to just leave alone.

DDLJ Part 51 (Because I Love You All): Anupam Finds a Girl
My views are insanely low right now, and I don’t super care. The blog is keeping me sane and if it is doing the same for my half dozen or so folks who are still reading and commenting, that’s totally worth it. But! Since it is just us half dozen in an empty room chatting, that means we can talk about the stuff we care about and not worry about the 100 or so other people who are usually here with us. TIME FOR DDLJ!!!!! (full index here)
Continue readingDiscussion Post: Which Movie Mothers Do You Most LIKE???
I feel we need to be fair to motherhood, after yesterday’s post asking which one you least like, we need to include ones you DO like and why.
Continue readingGo Around the World in Song!
I was listening to the new Rahman soundtrack, which lead me his last soundtrack that I loved Sarvam Thaala Mayam, which lead me to the title song, which lead me to think about the best songs for just gorgeous scenery.
Continue readingSilly Sunday FanFic: Final Sex Post! Our Favorite Movies if They Were Allowed to Include Sex, DDLJ and Jab We Met and Ra.One and Om Shanti Om and Chak De India and Dangal
Are those all our favorite movies? I think so! If I forgot something, throw it in the comments and I’ll sex that up too.
Continue readingValentine’s Week of Sex FanFic: Couples Heading for Sexual Dysfunction, Hrithik and Rani to Shahrukh and Kajol to Ranbir and Deepika
You know what we don’t see enough movies about? What happens if the sex is BAD!!!! Luckily, I am here to write those stories. And intellectualize it a little bit so we all feel more classy and less dirty.
Continue readingDDLJ Part 50: Karwa Chauth Party Party!!!!!
I’m back! I just took about 200 more screenshots and it got me slightly less than 5 minutes farther into the film. So even if I do a post a day, I think we still have a month or more before I end this thing. Which is good news or bad news depending on how you feel about it.
Continue readingDDLJ Part 49: The Romance of a Fight
An SRKajol scene! Always the most interesting ones to discuss. Although by this point in the film/my analysis, I’m not sure if there is that much new for me to pick up between them. But I will try because Rachel said she was depressed last night and I want to cheer her up!
Continue readingDDLJ Part 48: Father and Son Comedy Team
I’m back! I am starting fresh, with a sprinkling of Christmas cheer and happiness, and a new system for pulling images that hopefully makes this less horrible of a process for me, so let’s see how I do. UPDATE: oh right, I forgot the other reason I stopped these posts, it’s been an hour and this post only got 4 views so far. Not a lot of interest for intense scene by scene discussion.
Continue readingMonth of SRK: 8 SRK Movies To Learn His Life Story
Thanks for the suggestion Emily! Shahrukh (as most celebrities/actors do) has used his real life trauma to support his performances and promote his films. Which also means we can easily find 8 movies to watch if you want to get a sense of the emotional journey of the “real” SRK!
Continue readingDirector’s Week: Aditya Chopra, Meastro of the 2 Minute Video, His Greatest Hits
I don’t know for sure that Adi did these. I know for sure he made the Darr trailer, which is instantly recognizable as something a little bit different and better than anything else. And there are other YRF trailers that have that same feel which I am choosing to credit for Adi.
Continue readingDirector’s Week: Aditya Chopra, Businessman First and Artist Second
Adi! Such an odd director, unpredictable and yet predictable. And always achieves the goal he sets out to achieve. I forgot, I already covered Aditya’s personal life in a Hindi Film 101, so if you want to learn more after reading this post, click here.
Continue readingNRI Week: The Soiled NRI Woman, Purab Aur Paschim, DDLJ, Befikre, and My Name is Khan
Another common NRI trope! I was thinking these films didn’t fit because the hero is still desi, and then I realized it only doesn’t fit if I consider the national identity as residing in the man. It doesn’t of course, a woman can just as easily be an NRI.
Continue readingShahrukh Summer: 4th of July FanFic Celebration Part 2! 25 Shahrukh Plots Filled In
This is a post I wrote for his birthday, but it’s really quite good! And fun to read and discuss. I already did the first 13 early today, here are the last 12.
Continue readingDiscussion Post: How Did You First Find/ReFind Indian Film/A Particular Language of Indian Film?
I know I have asked this question many times before, but it is a fun one. And one that everyone should be able to answer, even if the answer is “I was born and it was there because my parents are Indian”. Although I am also expanding it, so if you spent your life watching Indian movies and not really thinking about it, and then as a teenager really really fell in love with one movie that got you seriously into the films, tell that story. Or if you have already told your Hindi film story, tell your Tamil or Malayalam or Telugu film story instead. Remember, I am giving away an SRK poster at the end of the month to the person who makes the most comments!
Continue readingMarshmello Video Translated! All About Shahrukh
I have really and truly never heard of this artist. But some nice person in the comments told me that he is really really famous even outside of India? So now I get to do a post that maybe/hopefully gets picked up outside of my Indian blog by people who are the opposite of me, having heard of Marshmello but not Shahrukh Khan.
Continue readingValentine’s Week, Humpty Sharma and DDLJ Part 2!
I already compared and contrasted the first halves of DDLJ and Humpty. And that got so long that I decided to break at intermission and talk about the second half today. This may be slightly too much thought to put in to Humpty (although it is a very good movie. With a terrible title), but it is interesting as an example of how DDLJ has forever changed and influenced the Indian romance film.
Continue readingHappy Valentine’s Week!!! What Are the Most Romantic Songs?
Oh boy, fun post! And one that I definitely need your help with, because there are just so many romantic songs out there.
Continue readingShahrukh Birthday Month Discussion Post: How Did You Become a Fan?
I am probably going to be busy at work again today, and I will definitely be sleepy because I woke up at 5am for no reason, so I am going to put up a post that will give me something interesting to read (I hope) while I try to stay awake and field phone calls. (don’t worry, there is also a Shahrukh themed TGIF going up later)
Hindi Film 101 Repost: The Best Kind of Filmi Romance Which Loveyatri Will Most Likely Fail to Be
This is a post from a long long time back, but it’s a good post! Worth posting again, and so long as we are stuck in a dead news cycle, I thought I might as well squeeze it in.
Silly Sunday: Raksha Bandhan Reprint, DDLJ 2 with SRKajol’s Son and Daughter
It’s been a busy day, and I don’t feel like this post got enough views the first time around, so I am reposting. Plus, it is perfect for Raksha Bandhan!
DDLJ Part 47: Like Father Like Son
I’m back! Sorry, it was the screenshots I didn’t have time for. Takes about two hours steady work on my home laptop, and I haven’t had two hours straight at my home laptop in a while. But tonight I did, and I got enough screenshots for two posts, so I should be good for next week too. (full index of DDLJ here)
DDLJ Part 46: A Bit of Light Comedy
I’m back! Because you promised to comment and make it worth writing these. And I’m gonna hold you to that! Very depressing spending 5 hours on this and then getting no comments. (full index of DDLJ coverage here)
Silly Sunday FanFic Quickie: DDLJ 2
Happy Easter! Not a very long new fanfic this week, I put up my epic Amar Akbar Anthony Easter post from last year to make up.
Hindi Film 101/DDLJ Part 44: The Rescue of Amrish Puri and the Tragedy of the Fearful Immigrant
Well, this turned into a whole thing! I started just wanting to establish Amrish’s character journey at this part in the film, and I just ended up going on and on until it went way beyond the usual Scene By Scene and turned into a screed on the tragedy and trauma of the immigrant (full index of DDLJ posts here)
