The veterans got all those great fanfics yesterday, time to move on! Armistice day now, lets look at peace songs. Or, rather, catchy modern songs that use “shanti” as a repeated phrase.

Month of SRK: 11 Best Songs of SRK, Ranked
I’m exhausted from baby hosting, so I am going to put up a post to get a discussion started! Yes, I am going to be brave enough to attempt to RANK the best SRK songs. I expect all of you to disagree with me in some way.
Continue readingBaby Dance Party Songs!!!!
My nephew is not the most happy little guy in the universe. I am not a good enough aunt to actually visit him and take my turn going “bubba bubba bubba” until he stops crying. But I am a good enough aunt to give him blog posts!
Continue readingShahrukh Summer: Shahrukh Songs in Which He Gazes Longingly At the Heroine
I’m not messing around, I went to his full filmography and pulled out every song that evokes that “I desire you like oxygen but do not feel worthy to do more than gaze at you” feeling.
Continue readingHrithik Week Discussion Post: What is His Best Song?
Oh, this is hard! This is very very hard! He has so many good ones. I had a hard time even limiting down which to include in this post.
Continue readingHappy 4th of July! American-y Songs to Celebrate
This is by no means an exhaustive list, feel free to jump in with your own suggestions. I’m just listing off the first songs that come to mind for me when I think about Indian movies set in America.
Continue readingShahrukh Summer: Summer Songs of SRK
Like I said, this is my “lazy and happy” series. And you know what isn’t a lot of work and makes me happy? Theme songs posts!
Continue readingSex in the Rain Songs
How is this very specific category still far too large to possibly cover in one post? It’s like every time a couple consummates, it rains in India. Or I suppose, every time it rains in India, millions of couples rush out to their terraces because now it is time to finally have sex in slow motion.
Continue readingSongs That Changed Everything, Did I Make a Mistake Not Including Disco Dancer?
Another “Emily thinks deeply about songs” inspired post! She was talking about the surprise hits, the ones from new composers or singers or just different genres. And that made me think about those songs that changed everything.
Continue readingSongs in Which the Hero Gazes Longingly At the Heroine
Is that title clear? I feel like it is a genre that we are all aware of, but maybe it is just me and my sister and Angie in the comments. Doesn’t have to be longingly and lustfully, but also doesn’t NOT have to be longingly and lustfully.
Continue readingVital Question: Which is the Sexiest Shahrukh Song?
I suspect some of you will have STRONG OPINIONS on this question. I also feel like maybe I have done this post before? Or something similar? Anyway, it is a vital question that deserves constant revisiting and revising. And since tastes differ, it is also a question that should spark some interesting and enlightening discussion!
Read moreSexy Sex Sex! In Hindi Film, Songs in Which Sexual Acts Outside of Procreation Are Implied
I just put up a post about kissing onscreen, and a comment from Alisa/BollywoodNewbie got me thinking about how maybe the reason kisses are so shocking is because they are the one act everyone understands. While all the other stuff that is just implied goes right over people’s heads. Not “against the grain” things, but things that have no logical explanation beyond sex, and imply sex which is not procreational and married and in the missionary position.
Continue readingHappy Day After May Day! The Best “Kill the Rich” Songs in Indian Film
And the May Day celebration roles on! I just keep thinking of more “woo-hoo, the working class!” songs.
Continue readingSongs for that Indescribable Heart So Full Springtime Feeling
That isn’t a good description, because it isn’t describable! But I’m having one of those weeks that tend to come in the spring when I keep feeling out of tune with the world and as though something wonderful is almost about to happen but not yet.
Continue readingDiscussion Post (Because No One is Commenting and I Have Writer’s Block): What Do You Think is the Best All Time Indian Film Soundtrack Album?
I was all set for people to get angry with me for my Hindi Film 101 on class and Kangana, and nothing. And not really any comments on my Super Deluxe review either (if someone wants to link back to it from the Bardwaj review page as an example of a review that is critical of the film, that would be great). Anyway, when the comments drop down, so does my ability to think abstractly and intelligently and I end up putting up stupid posts like this in an attempt to get a response from the void.
Continue readingApril Fool’s Post! Songs With Trickster Heroes
I just spent a really long time writing a detailed review and summary of Super Deluxe, and now I am exhausted and I just want a fun post! So here is last year’s post on songs with trickster heroes.
Continue readingSongs to Wake Me Up as I Fight Post-Vacation Slump!
Somehow I acclimated to the two hour time change going to California very easily, but coming back home is ROUGH. Plus the usual kind of spiritual upset of trying to retrain my brain to being at home instead of on vacation. And being greeted by two days worth of extra work. It’s all hard, I need songs to help.
Continue readingFun Vacation Post! Songs With English Language Bits That I Secretly Love
I’m not the only one who secretly loves English language song breaks, right? As an English speaker, I can actually sing them! Which is great. But on the other hand, feeling the need for an English language song break usually indicates that the song itself is not that great.
Continue readingI’m So Cold!!!! How About Some Hot Songs to Warm Me Up?
Long story short, still no dog! But I got to spend a fun 10 hours driving literally all over the city to church, the pound, a series of adoption events, and finally the movie. And then milk on the way home. But because I was planning on getting a dog, I dressed up for the dog, and it is way WAY too cold for a dress today. And now I am still completely freezing even after being home for 20 minutes. So, time to pull out some hot songs to warm me up!
Continue reading20 Shahrukh Songs Outside the Standard List
I’m really sleepy. The whole “getting up at dawn to get my car fixed” yesterday really wore me out. And I’ve been sleeping weird because I still don’t have a dog (another post on that today! Fun fun! For my doggie subset of readers). Anyway, get ready for me to be lazy and give the people what they want. As Neha Dhupia says, “Only Sex and SRK sell”.
Continue readingEveryone is Talking At Me At Work! Here is a Post of “Lower Your Blood Pressure” Songs
I’m the customer support supervisor at work, which means I get my own office and a window (oooo!), but also I get to take the really complicated phone calls. And it has not been a good day for phone calls. Or maybe, it has been a good day for phone calls? What I am saying is, I have been on the phone straight through for the past 5 hours and it is beginning to get a bit stressy. I’m supposed to also do a bunch of really urgent work things, and I’d like to actually respond to your comments on the blog, plus personal emails and stuff, but that’s not going to happen today. Also lunch, lunch is not going to happen. I’ve been trying to eat an apple for 5 hours, and I’m still only two bites in.
Continue readingHappy Valentine’s Week!!! What Are the Most Romantic Songs?
Oh boy, fun post! And one that I definitely need your help with, because there are just so many romantic songs out there.
Continue reading10 Lords a Leaping for the 10th Day of Advent!
Ha! I finished my Koffee post! And it wore me out, so it will have to keep you for a while in terms of serious posts. But this is a fun one, right??? 10 Lords a Leaping!
Continue readingVideo Post! All the Best Tuxedo Songs, in Honor of “Mere Naam Tu”
This is a silly silly post. But whatever, I’m exhausted from 3 days of hard house labor and I am guessing the 50% of my readers who are American are either exhausted from that, or from travel. So let’s all be silly together!
Songs For When You Need to Tell the Voices in Your Head “Go to Heck!”
Sorry, I know the headline is lame, but my Grandma is up in heaven reading this blog everyday and she would never forgive me if I used actual swears, especially since it is her birthday tomorrow. Just fill in that I actually meant the-real-word-for-“Heck”.
