Well, this was a sunny pleasant film. Not great, but not terrible. Very Malayalam. Oh, and pretty also, can’t beat those Kerala village settings!

Start the New Year Right! Donate to DCIB!
Happy 2020! Why not make it a resolution to donate to DCIB this year? Especially because I just wrote an insanely long post summarizing the entire 2010s decade in terms of male actors.
Continue readingTalents of the 2010s, Male Edition, A Look Back and Who Will Rule the 2020s?
Thank you to Genevieve for asking an interesting question! I started to write her a long answer and then realized this could be an interesting post.
Continue readingHrithik Versus Aamir Post
I have a terrible sickness where I can’t let anyone around me be sad. It’s horrible! And it results in me doing silly things like a post specifically designed to cheer up one particular reader.
Continue readingAll the Awards Poll Posts! Vote Before I Start Tallying!
The 15th seems like a good time to stop putting up new posts, right? So here is the full list of all the posts, scroll through and make sure you have voted in every category you care about. Or even categories you don’t really care about!
Continue readingWednesday Watching Post: What Are You Reading and Watching and Thinking and Listening to This Week?
Happy Wednesday! I finish work today, then I finish work tomorrow, then I host a movie night, then I do half a days work on Friday, then I fly out to visit my sister and hold a crying baby for three days.
Continue readingLearn to Speak Indian English! Three Useful Words
You know, I am actually more confident with translating real Hindi words than I am with Indian English! But I feel confident in these three at least, and hopefully folks will add on in the comments.
Continue readingRitu Nanda, Daughter of Raj Kapoor, Sister of Rishi Kapoor, and Mother-in-Law of Shweta Bachchan, Has Passed Away
Ritu was related to a lot of famous public people, but was not a public person herself. I don’t want to reveal too much of her life which (by choice) she kept private. But I want to point to how she affected those around her who have chosen to lead a public life.
Continue reading2010s Awards Best/Worst Rani Mukherjee Film of the Decade Poll Post! Your Chance to Vote for Aiyyaa!
Why does no one care to vote for the best films of Salman/Aamir? Is it because they just weren’t in movies you loved-loved? But surely you loved-loved at least one Rani movie in the 2010s, right????
Continue reading2010s Post: Best/Worst Aamir Khan Film Poll Post!
Oh boy! Another actor filmography to list out for the whoooooooooooole decade! And this should be a fun one to pick, because Aamir films tend to be either “I love them” or “I hate them”.
Continue reading2010s Post: Best/Worst Salman Khan Film of the Decade Poll Post!
I am so enjoying these “decade” posts, because I can do big simple categories and there are still enough options to make it interesting. If I were doing “best/worst Salman Khan Film of 2019”, it would just be between two, and that is boring.
Continue reading2010s Award: Best Reema-Zoya Product of the Decade Poll Post!
I was going to do of 2019, make it a challenge between Made in Heaven and Gully Boy, but then I decided to make this really REALLY hard and expand our favorite partner pair to the whole decade.
Continue reading2019 Award Post: What is Your Song of the Year?
This is a nice fun subjective post. This isn’t everyone’s song of the year, just YOUR song of the year. And then based on the responses, we can try to come up with a DCIB community majority Song of the Year.
Continue reading2019 Awards: Humblest Leading Man Poll Post, Who Most Stepped Back to Let their Co-Star Shine?
Best Actor, that’s easy! You get the good role, you do spectacular, you take all the close-ups and the big dramatic monologues, everyone notices you. But what about “best leading man who stepped back”? The ones who chose to let someone else shine?
Continue readingMonday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me the Week I Visit My Sister?
Happy Monday! It was a snowy wet blechy weekend here, so I don’t really mind getting back to the cozy little office.
Continue reading2019 Awards: Film You Would Have Nominated for a Foreign Language Film Poll Post
I was going to make this simply “best”, but that’s subjective. Of course this is subjective as well, but I give you a clear definition.
Continue readingSunday Rerun: Badla, the Best Thriller of 2019
Badla! Surprisingly solid little movie. Not groundbreaking, but well-made! Worth remembering as part of 2019
Continue readingNon-Indian Gossip Discussion Post! Let’s Talk Royals and Brad Pitt
I have faith that this community can intelligently discuss these two non-Indian news stories, and also find interesting ways to compare them to Indian news stories.
Continue readingSilly Sunday: Dear Zindagi and War, Choose Your Sexy Own Adventure
I am feeling very very silly this Sunday, partly inspired by my post from yesterday about the hottest old men of the 2010s. Be silly with me!
Continue reading2010s Award: Hottest Old Man of the Decade, Shahrukh or Hrithik or Anil?
You know who’s hot? Men who act their age. You know what’s NOT hot? Men who dye their hair and wear cool clothes and jump around like they are half their age. But, in the 2010s, who were the HOTTEST old men?
Continue readingTrailers! The Rise of the Sexy Older Folks, Sexy Anil Assassin and Sexy Party Woman Tabu
Thank you Angie and Alisa/BollywoodNewbie for alerting me to the arrival of two really good trailers! I make no promises for the quality of the eventual movies, there’s many a slip twixt cup and lip, but the trailers look good!
Continue readingSaturday Small Talk: Chat Away While I See a Foot Doctor
Happy Saturday! I’m gonna have a guy look at my foot, and then get a facial. So, head to toe kind of day!
Continue readingHappy Last Minute Birthday Hrithik! What Are Your Best Songs From the Last Decade?
The sad thing is how few of them there are. What with Hrihtik’s spaced out release schedule and physical issues, he just isn’t dancing as much as he should.
Continue readingFriday Classics: Photograph, a Familiar Story Told in an Unfamiliar Way
I am so proud of myself, I watched a non-Indian movie! That is, a movie made in India but in a style totally unlike Indian film. And I understood it! Mostly!
Continue readingWorst Trailer of 2019: Chhappak, War, Good Newwz?
I am sure there are more, these are just the 3 that occur to me. Trailers that made me think “well, I’m not seeing that movie!”
